Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I have a number of photos on my blog and I know they are saved in Picasa. I have some that are embedded within a particular blog entry, and some that are shown to the side of the entries and are visible from my blog page. I would like to remove the pictures from the initial blog page, but my question is: wil...
Lately I have been able to detect a musty odor when entering my 5th wheel. It isn't noticeable outside near the hoses, but only indoors, sometimes stronger than others. In trying to find out what could be the cause I ran across an article on blocked vents. How would I find out if this is the cause? Is i...
And she’s a beaut! She’s a 2008 F450 4x4 diesel and appears to be in excellent condition. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to see her in person yet and won’t be able to test drive her this weekend due to our scheduled garage sale. But we’re planning to drive by on Sunday and possibly take her for a te...
What with the aquisition of Ford F450's by Contra (Connie and Tracy) and by Jo and I, I would like to ask for tips regarding the truck and the 6.4L engine by those that either own the F450 so equipped or by anyone who has experience with similar vehicles or engines. In my case, I haven't used a diesel engine...
As a human, yes I expect to go solo. However I will be joined by my (God willing) 3 trusty canine companions. I can't imagine doing this without them. I have yet to figure out how to handle my two indoor/outdoor cats Ow' & Meow, but I'm sure someone will come up with a suggestion. Yes, I'm going sol...
I have a 2007 Keystone Everest with 3 slides. We took it out for the first time this weekend and used the front jacks to take a little pressure off the truck bed when we set up our site. When we left the site we retracted the jacks and were on our way. When we returned home to store the RV, we again extended th...
So we're going to window shop 5ers later today. Been looking at GCWRs, GVWRs, etc. this morning on my truck. Needless to say, my brain started to implode so I'm taking a break. My question is...do you have a rough idea of the weight of your cargo in your 5er is fully loaded...dishes, linens, clothes, b...
Okay, so we're gonna go look at different 5ers later today. After gathering data on my truck, I'm wondering if I'm in the ball park of weight of 5er to look at. Our truck is an '08 Ford F350 diesel 4x4 SRW long bed with towing package, but not Tow Boss. GCWR is 23000, GVWR is 11500, GAWR is 6900, and 5th-whee...
I'm heading for Annapolis, MD tomorrow for a disc dog event. It will be the 2nd time for Cheyenne and a first for Abbey who has been injured for the last 10 months. This is what started me down the RV path in the first place. Several of the competitors have RVs and after seeing how much work it is to pack up...
Hello...I just wanted to say how glad I was to find this site today. My husband and I have been talking about going fulltiming next year and we have some questions that I am sure will be answered by people in this forum. We have been retired since 1995 but due to having to be a caretaker to an elderly mothe...
Hi everyone! I wasn't really sure where to post this topic and when I did a search for "severe weather," nothing came up. My question is...What do you do when severe weather approaches where you're camping/boondocking/hooked up? Obviously, if your rig is intact and you're on the road, y...

My wife and I have made the decision to hit he road. For 10 years I spent 150 to 170 days a year on the road speaking at schools, prisons, mens groups and church's. The last 2 years of that we had a class C MH that we used. We loved being out on the road, the memories, adventures and friends we made were great. I h...

Just putting into substance my dream, my vision.... My dream is to find and acquire (while we are still working as self-storage resident managers) the 5er that will suit us for many years to come as we live in it full-time. Still with steady income and the residence provided in our job, to rig the 5er...
Just curious... For those of you full-timing with 5ers, how far in advance of actually hitting the road did you get yours? Thanks for any thoughts, experiences, input! Betty
HI are there any tricks to climbing and decending mountains? I am concerned my 454 cid in my 14000 lb 32 ft motorhome, towing a jeep wrangler with a blue OX tow and brake system may have a problem. How long can you run with your foot on the floor in second gear without over heating going up a mountain? Has any...
I have purchased a new HP computer and a new HP Officejet 6500 all in one printer. I had a little problem setting it up so it would work wireless with the wifes lap top computer. I contacted HP support and I talked to a fellow in India for over two hours getting it to work. I thought everything was fine and...
Bed, Bath and Beyond is a treasure trove of kitchen and household items that are smaller sized or fold up, etc. A recent trip revealed measuring cups, measuring spoons, collanders, step stools, table top ironing board (which I don't plan to use much), etc. What space-saving accessories have you f...
So as I read many entries, there are many of you that have bought a 5'ver long before you fulltimed. That said, what is the average life of a 5ver and does anyone plan on having to buy another one while on the road. We are looking at replacing our TT becuase we figure if we have to get one payed off before we g...
Hi Everyone, Dave and I a resident managers of a self-storage facility in Texas, so we sort of "work-kamp" already, having our residence and utilities furnished with the job. We have a 26' bumper pull and our TV is a Ford F350 diesel crew cab 4x4 long bed w/towing package, and we get out camp...
After lurking around here for a while, I finally made the leap out of the shadows and decided to join the fray. As both wanna be RVers and full timers, DW and I are both excited and somewhat fearful (not the word I wanted) about living in such tight quarters. We are currently both employed full time and liv...

I have a 10 gallon hot water tank, I noticed if I leave the heater on using the gas the red light comes on very quickly. What does that mean? Also it leaks down the outside of the rig once it gets hot. Hubby replaced the valve so that's new and he also turned it down as far as it would go but it still leaks. I've be...
I thought this was an interesting article. The advances in the GPS world have just gone a big step forward. This is the new Google GPS for the Android phones. http://www.perivision.net/wordpress/?p=2208 I like new gadgets, I just may have to give up my IPhone and get one of these.
Howard, have you heard of using a mirror to hitch up a 5th wheel? I have read about this somewhere, just not sure if it was in this forum. I showed my dh the info. about using a mirror but of course neither one of us can remember the site.
Howdy. We are Doroty and Richard Noble. We live above Cedaredge, Colorado. We have been retired for about 8 years and have been RVing most of our married life. We generally spend February and March in Big River, CA RV park (the east coast of CA - just across the Colorado River from Parker, AZ). We...
Guess I will put a big grin on my face and plunge in here .. we are home based in Washington State. Our two daughters live there, and our two boys are in Ontario, Canada and Virginia. We started full-timing in May 2004, had a minor set back and didn't set off on the road until in October for the midwest and a...
Hi, I'm in the midst of doing research on full-time RVing, and I'd like to find out if there's any way I can hang pictures in my RV. They are framed botanical paintings that I have done. I have about six of them - they're not that large, about 10 x 12. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Roberta
