Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Vu Qube 2000

Hi Friends,

I have tried and tried to set up a satellite manually and found myself mechanically declined.Instead of paying $2000 for permanent antenna to be installed, i am investigating the VU QUBE 2000.Has or does anyone use this satellite as thier primary antenna?

Second I have always had Direct tv because I am an NFL nut and they are the only one to offer the NFL Sunday Ticket.Has anyone had Direct TV and switched to Dish Network? If so can you tell any difference in:

Picture Quality

Getting a signal

Price

Features

Or anything else that you might be able to share

Even though I am becoming a fulltimer I am disabled and on those feeling bad days watching TV or being on the computer are my only options.

Thank you again my RV-Dreams Family

We have the V/Q 1000 which comes with a remote control to set your elevation and direction.
We have DirecTv and also NFL Sunday ticket. With anything new it takes a while to get used to how it works. We didn't realize it at first that when you don't use your satellite box or shut off power to it you have to reset it either by calling DirecTv or if you have internet you can reset it yourself on DirecTv's website.hmm
We have never had Dish Network so we can't comment on that. I see you were looking at V/Q 2000. I guess that has auto find set up which sounds good, but like I said once you get used to it the V/Q 1000 works good too.
It takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes to set ours up. I would assume the V/Q 2000 would be faster and easier.smile
Camping World sells the V/Q 1000 for $599.00 to members. I'm not sure about the price for the V/Q 2000.
One thing with these dish's you cannot get your local channels.furious

Dave,
WE have the Vucube 2000. We bought it for the same reason. We really havent had a good chance to use it yet. We have cable where we are this month. However last month while we were in Tn for a few nights we were lucky to be parked by a couple who set it up for us. Worked great but we havent had to do it ourselves yet.. Will let you know next month.

Ron and Donna,
We have Direct TV and get network channels from both NY and LA. I don't know what the program is called, but call Direct TV and ask about it. I think we pay about $6-7 a month extra for it.

I think you're talking about the DNS (distant network services) offered by DirecTv. I used to get both east and west channels, but since the last time I called to change my location for the locals I am only getting the west feeds. Strange. I liked being able to watch shows early from the east feed, and then watch something else later from the west feed.

You might want to call them about that. we have gotten both NY and LA for almost 4 years now. Never only one.

It is nice to be able to see a program from the west, if you happened to miss it from the east, or wanted to watch something else at that time.

Hello. 1st time poster. I thought that Dish network had the East/West side of the US thing and most of Directv was on 119. or was it 110? Not sure. I have directv and a 1000 I bought at camping world and had a little trouble in the beginning. I later bought a tv at roadtrucker.com and the guy there gave me a couple of tips that really helped a lot. He said the satellite was not directly in the south and recomended using a compass to set the handle north, then turn the unit by hand about 45 degrees clockwise, then set the elevation, then tweak it up/down/side to side. Now it only takes me a couple of minutes to set it up. As far as the local channels, I was told that you could get them in the vicinity of your home, but not on the road. The reason was the braodcast is only spot beamed in a small area to save banwidth. The guy at roadtrucker said I might have to play with the setup, like use oval instead of round. He said that he got the local channels without doing anything, but 1 of the channels would not come in for some reason.
