Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We finished our first week of three volunteering with the NOMADS at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville TX. What a week it has been. Phyllis power washed a deck, sidewalks and buildings. Leonard repaired exhaust vents over the science lab and other misc. electrical work. This is a great assign...
This may fit more appropriately under Community Chat, but I've got a pet peeve. When a park states that it is 'big rig friendly', you really should be able to get into the site without having to bite nails. We're going to have to ask the next door neighbors to move their vehicle and have someone help us w...

I'm a Wannabe that is working on making the decision and using a blog to help me stay on track with getting rid of "stuff" and getting the house up for sale. I'm trying to make daily entries in-which I have started to mull over my feelings and at the same time listing items going to trash and fl...
We drove from Idaho 2 1/2 days and arrived at Jackson TN at Smallwoods Camper and Trailer Sales on Monday. Kathy got her first look at our new home away from home and proclaimed it BIG! She is a beauty. Small problem with installing the B&W hitch as they had ordered the wrong one for our truck so that ca...
Not sure how often anyone comes through Northwest Alabama, but wanted you to be aware of the Cane Creek Nature Preserve, if you are in our area. This is a privately owned preserve (over 700 acres!) that a really neat couple started a few years ago. It is open 7 days a week and is free. BEAUTIFUL place!!...

Which do you like better and why?? Seems to me the "booth" may be too confining?? I think I'm leaning toward table and chairs, but wonder what pros and/or cons I may be overlooking. Thanks in advance for sharing. Bob
We did it! The last few weeks have been amazingly blurry but with great joy! We decided to sell our camp trailer, we lived in it last season but it just wasn't going to work this year, so we bought a new one! A 4 -season, with washer/dryer, heated underbelly, beautiful and oh wonderfully home. We got ev...
For the last week or so I've been fiddling with the onboard again. There's code written to start/stop the fans and the furnace, and it works really well. It just has gotten kinda cruddy over the last two years and eats more memory than I like. It also doesn't work as seamlessly with the database. I've be...
After 5 years of research. following Howard, Linda and other on this foruam and more, we ordered our dream fifth wheel, took position of it last Dec (it is still in storage), bought a F550 last week to pull it with and next Thursday we begin movinig into it. We will become workampers as of 4/1, we have to fi...
Are presently in the planning stages for a camping trip leaving Kentucky in late April or early May proceeding towards Arizona and the Grand Canyon. Is there an approach to this area that is better for sightseeing and camping? Am also thinking of Canyon De Chelly on the way. Then a little undecide...
Good Morning All, we are Barney and Cheryl Fife. We have been fulltiming for 5 yrs now. Started out with 3 dogs now only 2 I work on the road and Cheryl is studying online. the dogs just hang out! Glad to be here. Barney
A former full-timer couple I know is tired of having their old motorhome sit on a dealer's lot and not sell. The motorhome is a 1999 Foretravel with no slides and is well taken care of. He told me "dirt cheap", but right now I do not know what that means. If you are interested I can get you in to...
We have sold some furniture, given bags of stuff to Goodwill, have things listed on craigslist, and I am still scanning photos/documents. We have boxes of things for a moving sale, things for the 5er and things in the grey area that need to be looked at more closely for keep vs get rid of. I arranged for...
One week ago I introduced ourselves and stated "at this time we don't own an RV or a truck to pull it." Well, this past weekend we went to the Virginia RV Show in Hampton and we are now in the process of purchasing a new Excel Limited 36GKE. In a couple weeks, we will be going up to the deale...
We took delivery on a 2010 Cameo 36FWS and now we are in the process of moving in. We have been in a campground for a week which is about 10 miles from our S&b. The moving in has been easy up to this point. We will be taking the unit back to the dealer next Friday for a minor fix and an add-on. From there w...
Hi everyone! I just started researching into RVing as a more permanent lifestyle. My girlfriend and I (+ 2 cats) want to stop renting and start saving money. We hope RV life is the answer! I am about to graduate from the University of Texas with an MFA. I want to maintain a healthy lifestyle while having d...
Steve and Jay Banasky. We've been fulltiming now since last September when we fled the rains from Portland, Oregon. We are spending the winter in South San Jose, Ca. at the Coyote Valley RV Park. An excellent facility. Our RV of choice right now is a 38Ft 2009 Montana with four slide outs. Very...
Last tear we had considered going full time, but a hiccup in the acquisition of our RV left us without one. Well, here we are about a year later and we are ALL SYSTEMS GO. We just signed the paperwork on our new RV today, and we be accepting delivery in the next few days. Our first stop is Midland, TX. Now, fin...
Howard and Linda, Thank you for your referencing Miller Insurance! I just spoke with them regarding coverage for our new 5er and WOW! We will literally be saving hundreds of dollars versus our present coverage. I am also more comfortable with the policy we will be getting from Miller, as they spec...
Hello. We have a 2008 Diplomat 40SKQ. We plan to tow a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The plan is tow with all wheels down in order to maintain even tire wear (because of the AWD transmission); I'm open to using a dolly if you have additional perspective. Do you have any suggestions for a tow bar system? I've...
In our never ending research I have started a "Bucket List" in no order of places to visit when we can finally full time. I just viewed, thanks to my local library, the John Holod RV Adventures collection. I am wondering if any can suggest DVD's that might include campgrounds as well as the tr...
Hello, My wife and I and our five boys are planning on hitting the road this coming fall and we cannot wait! It will be at least and two year venture and after that who knows! I have been a children's pastor for the last 18 years. I am going to start working for a web-based non-profit going around and doign tr...
After a few false starts and lots of frustration, we finally have our blog up and running. You can see what we are up to at: http://sangeo-travels.blogspot.com/
Hello, I'm new, I don't know quite where to put this but in the AARP news this month there was a reference to a website for finding cheaper storage. It is www.sparefoot.com I found it quite helpful. I looked at storage in my city of San Jose Ca and found the cheapest (big storage place) cost around $14...
