Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
The fan on our fireplace died, so we need to get the 5er in to a Keystone dealer for warranty work. It looks like the closest place is the Camper Clinic II in Buda, Texas. If anyone has had experience with them and would like to PM me, I'd appreciate it. Actually, they are not the closest one, but we will NOT...
RV Dreams is one of the best sites online. For the other members, please give yourself a pat on the back for making it so. The site contains encouragement for those who are not yet into RVing, words of wisdom for those who are about to start, advice for problem solving, and some good natured life enhancin...
Shortly after purchasing our Carriage Cameo, we had the Big Foot Levelers installed. Although an expensive modification (and now standard on Carriage fifth wheels), it has been one of our best upgrades. Not only does the system self-level the fifth wheel without the use of boards etc. it's also he...
Finally got an offer on the house. It has been for sale a little over 6 months. We have gone through the offer/counter offer portion and came to an agreeable price. The home inspection has been completed with only a few items on the list. I'll fix them tomorrow. Waiting for the appraisal then close...
I know I know, it's a risky way to introduce ourselves. but you all seem to be a pretty good bunch so I thought I would risk it. We are Ed & Diana [eddian] and by now you may have guessed that we are from 'up here', Lake Nippissing in Ontario, 230 miles north of Toronto to be exact. We don't fulltim...
Hi, we're Bill and Nancy from Murrells Inlet, SC. We are lifelong RVers, who plan to become fulltimers in 2011. We will be attending the 2010 Rally and can't wait to learn all we can from all of you!! Over the last 30 years, we have owned a travel trailer, motorhome, 5th wheel and currently travel in a Cla...
So I've started a Blog about our decision to become full-timers. Not much there now, just the build-up to and issues surrounding getting ready to do it. Hopefully, by May 1st of 2011, we'll be on the road. itchy-hitches.blogspot.com -- Edited by DagoRanch on Tuesday 2nd of March 2010 10:08:49 PM
Looking for feedback as to which pinbox may provide a smoother tow... the TrailAir airshock type or the MorRyde rubber pinbox type. I have heard that the TrailAir tends to make for an uneasy loose feel - definitely don't want that out of either of these. Would appreciate hearing from those of you who ha...
Ok. So with the chores of getting a house ready to sell, starting a new business, and still applying for "jobs" just in case there's something out there I couldn't turn down (ha ha); oh and my accountant just let me know I'd be owing a bit more to Big GOV -- you get the picture? I can get a littl...
Just put a down payment on a 2000 allegro bus, going to pick it up in 2 weeks. WHAT ARE SOME THING WE SHOULD CHECK FOR ? Also , 2 tv's need 2 receivers, as we don't like watch the same chanel ? Is that possiable? thank for any info you can give two green motor hommers !
I don't know if anyone has checked this out yet but I think it is really cool and I can see it being a great tool in planning our travel. http://www.publicearth.com/
I need some fast help - hopefully somewhere out there knows the answer. I had to leave town this morning. We are hooked up to city water. I dumped the tanks, then about a 20 min later shut off the water connection before leaving. Would this have been enough time to fill the hot water tank? I realized...
We are The Hensons: Kyle (37), Lisa (32), and Kylee (2.5) and we are launching out as FTers next year. We visited the idea a year ago and then decided not to but the idea has resurged with more fervor than ever and we are thrilled and confident this is the lifestyle we want for the 3 of us for now. We may go for 6...
Hi all: Dan and Tricia here....just starting out on all of the preliminary work to start on our journey to get on the road in the next 18 months....We have already signed up for the Rally in SC in April and are looking forward to meeting new people and learning tons! No RV yet but do have a new Dodge 3500 ca...
Hey All, My bride and I are getting ready to start fulltiming, possibly around November of this year. We think we have our coach down to a Heartland Bighorn 3585RL. We'll both still be working full time ( both in our mid 50's ) for 5 to 6 more years in the Palm Springs, CA area. We have a park pic...
Hi, I am the other half of Genecop, the shy quiet half. I figured since the rally is just around the corner I had better introduce myself, so here I am, Ginny From NY. My Husband and I recently purchased our new motor home, I am really excited for our first road trip and meeting everyone at the rally!!...
Right now I have Wild Blue Sat internet service at my home. Does anyone know the rules for taking your dish from your house and buying a heavy duty tripod and taking that dish on the road with you?
Hello Everyone, I would really appreciate some advice from you veteran Alaska travelers that have made the extended, or Full Summer Alaska trip. I'm a 62 year old full-timing widower, who has wanted to visit Alaska far back as I can remember. I'm planning to do so this Summer (2010) and have a questio...
We have been fulltiming for about 8 years while I continue to work but this is the year we finally "hit the road". I have been on the rv forums and rv groups for most of the time but more of a lurker than a talker. Maybe that will change as we get to meet some of you. Thanks for letting me aboard.
We will be pulling a 2008 CRV with a Monaco Windsor. There is a flap on the rear end of the MH to shield the toad, but is it enough? Does gravel, sand, etc. still hit the car? Should we get a bra for the car to prevent dings and nicks? I want to keep the car as nice as possible.
Our plan is to FT starting October 1, 2006.
One of the most frustrating parts of planning for our future FT experience is trying to find information on where others have located satisfactory boondocking locations in the west.
I know about freecamping.com and the information is pretty good...
I would like to ask if anyone has the PaddleSki (what size?) as I am tossed between the smaller Kayak 330 or even the 370 and the PaddleSki 395. We want to use it on the larger rivers (almost lake like) here in Nashville TN area. Some quiet areas, some of the smaller creek, rivers but this will also be used l...
We had an interesting weekend, as some of you may know, we are picking up our Rig in April, then driving straight to the Rally. After the Rally we want a campground to place our Rig at so we can visit on weekends, launch for weeklong trips, and eventually launch for good. So this past weekend we drove aroun...
We are laying out our route to the RV Dreams Rally from Illinois and will be travelling I-40 route east through Tennessee in to North Carolina in early April. (Route will dependent, of course, on whether they have completed job of clearing the I-40 rockslide). We will then be taking I-29 down in to S...
We are also (asked questions in another thread about 5th wheels) considering a 5th wheel toy hauler (an older rig). Anyone have one - and if so, how do you like it? Our current idea is to remodel the "garage" into home theatre kind of thing. Again, thanks. Karen -- Edited by KD on Saturday 27...
I have noticed that several of you are using F350 Diesels which is what we have. Ours is a duelly but not a 4X4. However, there must be a big difference in something - possibly the model year as ours is a 2004. The problem here is that our gross GVR combined weight to tow a 5'er is 20,000 pounds according t...
How many people use campground memberships? Are some better then others? I've seen Good Sam, Escapees, Thousand Trails, and something America. We are Thousand Trails members, with the RPI and um, some other one I forgot, but just wondered in places we will be staying where there are no TT parks. (and...
It is possible that Sunday night, March 1st, the satellite carriers, such as Direct TV, may be forced to turn off DNS service. That is, for example, the delivery of the broadcast network service from CBS, Fox, ABC, etc. from the New York or LA stations that is broadcast nationwide to “mobile people” l...
