Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello everyone Today is one year from the day that I found the the RV Dreams website. We are Tom and Cheryl from Minnesota and hope to be class of 2010. Have read all the journal posts from the first to the persent. We started camping in a tent then went to tent trailer, pickup camper, back to a tent tra...
I'm kind a new to buying a 5th wheel. I just sold our 1st 5th wheel and now are looking at buying another newer and nicer one. I have found a 1997 Excel Knobble Esquire 33 foot triple slide we really like. I have been told one major problem with Excel is the slide out giudes rot out or pull out of the slide out wa...
Good Morning, I wanted to introduce myself and my husband Ron. We are both 50 and are getting ready to start full timing in hopefully the next 3-5 years. Just last month we drove up to South Dakota and purchased a 2004 Keystone Everest 5th Wheel which we love. We brought it home and it has sat in its own...
We were beginning to wonder if it would ever happen but after 6 months on the market we signed the sales contract on our property today and close April 12th. Still have inspection to go through but not very concerned about that. Also already know appraisal will be o.k so we are set to go.So glad we already...
We camphost at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, Ca. It is a beautiful place on the beach with light duties. Will return there March 1st until the middle of June. Just found out that the 2 other couples that are supposed to be there are not returning until June or July. So the 1st of April we will be the only...
...to inflate your RV tires? The reason I am asking this is <get ready to laugh> we realized last time we were out that the cord on the compressor we use does not reach from the truck cig lighter to the 5er wheels when hitched up! OOPS! Color me brainless!! So we're wondering what folks use. ...
Hello everyone, With the rally less than a month away, I think it is time to delurk and become an active participant in the forum. I am Mike and my wife is Terri. At this time we don't own an RV or a truck to pull it. I have been doing extensive research in to both fifth wheels and tow vehicles. I will be ask...
NOW WHAT!! Well folks, we are going to do it. Annette, Canyon and I are going to purchase our full time rig. After months of looking and seeking, we have decided on a Damon Outlaw Scorpion Package. We didn't think that a class A would meet our budget, but after looking at the fifth wheels and the monster t...

Hello Dreamers! My name is Lynne and I currently reside in the Chicago area. I've had "RV Fever" for about 6 years now, and each year manage to spend more and more time living the lifestyle. Did the typical progression of tent to pop-up to travel trailer to now, a Class C motorhome (Winnie...
I keep getting solicitations from Good Sam VIP auto and RV insurance. I see that they are representing GMAC insurance. So far I haven't found many good reviews. I am not here to trash talk anyone or their products, just want an unbiased opinion. Ron
Hello Dreamers,I’ve been lurking around this group for a few months. I’m a wannabe that is about a year and a half away from making some very big decisions. My husband and I want to sell our to large, in need of repair, mountain home, when he fully retires. We have talked about full time RVing for a couple o...
Well I still can't really believe it, but we are now the proud owners of a 2010Ford F-350 FX4 Dually. She is Pearl blue with a tan stripe at the bottom. There is more options then I thought that I would ever get on a truck. Power everything including memory buttons for the seats. It has the SYNC syste...
I did some searching and don't see this topic, though I may have missed it. We are having a debate but both my husband and I are really uninformed on this subject so he suggested I turn to the most informed folks we know. You! At this time we are looking at a used Mobile Suites in the 34-36 foot range. We ha...
It can be done! We found a used 5th wheel with all we wanted, in our price range -- three slides (two in the living room), long enough (we hope) for both of us and three dogs at a price much better than we'd hoped. It's a Fleetwood Prowler '01. Unless John doesn't like it when he sees it in person, it'll be o...
We are avid cyclists & are looking down the road for a toad that has an internal bike rack for our bicycles and saw that the Nissan XTerra has that option. We want the toad to be 4 down as they say and it looks like an Xterra with a manual transmission would work. Would appreciate any comments or sugge...
Or.....die IN??? While watching the video at the link below, keep in mind the tow vehicle is crouching in back pretty well. Also, I'm not too sure about the mid roof hookup arrangement on the tow vehicle. Also, could you see the nose if the VW going up if the trailer wheels hit a good bump? Anyway, enjoy....

I have noticed in many RV blogs as well as in this forum, many of you do not like to reserve in advance for many good reasons but I have a specific question in mind regarding this. In June I will be renting an RV in Alaska for two weeks. I have everything already planned out and where I will be going, etc. The on...

morning, everyone. We're thinking our first trip is going to be heading south from Eureka down Highway 1. Won't be for a couple months yet, and I love doing the research so that'll keep me happy till then. Wondering if anyone has done that trip, and has favorite place to see or stay. Karen
Ok, I hope this is not to long, but here is my situation. We live in Indiana, I am retired and my wife is still working. She will be done sometime this year. We want to be out of Indiana by next winter. I did not want to buy our fulltime rig and truck until we had our address changed and all banking and everythin...
This is a follow-up question to the one posted about a combination fuel tank and tool box. Basically, the question is: What are you carrying in your truck as opposed to those items being in the trailer? For myself, I've been thinking of having 2 extra 40# LPG tanks and some kind of "adaptable&q...
We went on the road from Florida over the summer and then hubby found a full time job in Maryland. We are now renting a house, rv stored, until our new adventure presents itself. Are we still Florida residents (we own property there, it is rented)? Do we have to change our tags and drivers lic. and all t...
About a month ago I posted that we are looking into "full timing" but wasn't sure if it would be feasible for us. It looks like after all is said and done full timing is going to work for us. Now to decide on the RV. It seems overwhelming when looking for a fulltime rig. We have narrowed it down to a...
I've got 2 RV travel blogs to share! I decided to start a second blog last year when I moved from my T@B travel trailer to my current Winnebago View motorhome. The other reason was because my T@B blog was starting to get a bit too full with all the photos and adventures I had posted to it! So, here they ar...
We are Steve and Queenie Malcolm. From lots of places but for 21 years we were in Ouray, Telluride and Grand Junction Colorado. Now we home base from Charlotte, NC where we have been living since 2005, just in time to catch the downturn. We will become full timers this April (that's the plan anyway). Aft...
I have found that eating healthy isn't cheap. No sugar added means it costs more for some odd reason. A no-salt-added can of soup cost more. If they didn't spend money on salt or sugar, then you'd think the soup would cost less not more. Speaking of salt, there are three kinds in my kitchen. Iodized, Sea S...
I've seen some observations about rigs that are "rated" for full-time use and time after time I see a distinction being made that doesn't quite add-up in my mind. And it's not just us as consumers making these assumptions, but it's the entire industry playing into that assumption. No dou...
