Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

San Diego Area

We plan on being in the San Diego area in December.  Has anyone camped at Woods Valley Kampground in Valley Center, CA?  They are in Passport America and we are considering staying there.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a reasonably priced campground in the San Diego area?  I know California is expensive.

Thanks!

We stayed with my daughter and her family in Santee Lakes Campground in Santee, CA right outside of San Diego.  Nice area....large RV park with pools, hot tubs and a large lake.

I think it's on the high end....they were working in San Diego and so the monthly rate was about $800.

They also stayed in El Cahon....smaller and a little cheaper I think.

They are now in Orange Grove Campground in Bakersfield.....monthly around $400....my husband stayed there with them....said it was nice....as far as they have found.  most of the RV parks in Calif. are between $400-$800 per month.

They did find a MH resort....$1,000 per month!!

In and around the city of San Diego (approximate 35 mile radius) you'll have a hard time finding anything under $45 per night. Most are in the $55 to $65 per night range.

There are a couple of State Beach Campgrounds, Silver Strand and South Carlsbad which have sites for $35.00.

We stay at Chula Vista RV Resort, it is about 9 miles south of San Diego Downtown. I consider it a 4 star RV Resort, it's on the upper end of pricing but is worth it.

Any place you stay, you'll need to make reservations as early as possible.

There are several Casino close by with campgrounds. But the rates are above the state beach rate.

During peak traffic times a 20 mile drive into San Diego can take a half hour to 45 minutes. So the further away you stay the more time you will spend driving to sight see.

A bit of a drive, but Jojoba Hills (SKP park) was one of our most favorite parks. The SKP rates are very reasonable ($20 per day) and the amenities are amazing.
