Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
i have a 2007 everest, 4 slides. they go out ok but when you retrack them they stop going in several time. wait about 30sec and mash button again and they start. probably a weak fuse but cannot find it. were traveling thru alaska probably be several months before we get home and find someone to work on it. any ideas would help.
Some motors have built in thermal fuses that temporarily shut the motor down if they begin to overheat from too much current draw. When they cool off the motor works again.
Many times the situation is caused by the slide rubbers sticking and causing friction. Lubricating them helps relieve the problem. A call to the manufacturer could confirm this.
Fred is right on the money. Our Montana (also a Keystone Product) does the same thing on occasion. My understanding is there is a relay that will trip if the motor gets too warm and then resets itself. This is a built in safety device to keep the motor from overheating. When it happens just wait the 30 seconds or so like you are doing and it should work normaly.
I have no idea where the relay itself is located, perhaps somewhere near the motor? Keystone or Lippert (who make the slideouts and motors for Keystone) can give you a little more information if you need it.
ps: I saw your signature photo and if I'm not mistaken was taken in Custer S.D. We are there now and I even had supper 2 nights ago in the restaurant in the background.

hi phil, thanks for the info, yes it is custer we had a great time. saw the donkeys in the state park really great trip. were at denali now, great park.
wow a motor shutting down for overheating because it has been used for a few seconds!? that sounds like a bad design, an underpowered size motor for the job at hand.
