Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Fax

Hi Howard,

I'm wondering whether you have an all-in-one printer with fax capabilities or use some sort of efax and how often you use fax at all.

thanks
Sherry

Not Howard but thought I'd reply. smile

We do have an all-in-one printer but have never attempted to use the fax on it. For the first few times we relied on the free services: faxZERO [send]FaxDigits [receive]

Then we ran into issues with faxes not being sent in a timely manner, not being able to send large attachments, international faxes, daily limits, etc.

We opted to pay for MyFax.com which let us choose a phone area code to match our cell phones (Maryland). It has paid for itself over and over again in the last two years. When Stu's mother passed we needed to fax all kinds of documents with attachments to many places. Not a blip. Recently we needed a copy of a sales receipt ASAP. Not a blip. Another time we needed to receive a 10 page legal document. Not a blip.

Go for the free first and see how it works for you. If you need to move up, then try the free trial at MyFax.com.

I have used eFax for a decade with work. Now that I am moving to fulltime, I am not sure ifi will sign up personally as they aren't the cheapest on the market, but they have always been a solid remote/digital fax service. I have no problems continuing to use such a service at this point as I have had many more issues over the years with actual fax machines than I ever did with eFax.

We do have an all-in-one fax but have never used the fax feature on this machine.

In our first year, we used eFax or MyFax one time, but nothing since then.

With the all-in-one, it's easy to scan and email documents or sets of documents.  That's what I prefer to do and most recipients prefer that method as well.

Most businesses that want to fax us something usually have the document digitally saved on a computer, so it's easy to just email and attach it.  A few businesses won't email documents, so they have to mail them.

All of our mail is scanned and emailed to us.

Our mail forwarding service will send faxes for us so we scan in the pages we want faxed and email it to them with the number to fax it too.

I use MyFax for my business and will probably continue to use it. I pay $9.95 a month -- unlimited incoming faxes and 100 pages outgoing per month. Never been over the limit. Interesting that Howard doesn't find a need for fax. Will have to see how it goes for us. Right now most of the projects Johnny works on seem to rely of faxes and we can't seem to convince them emailing the doc they request is simpler... Maybe they will catch up someday...
