Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Flooring Project

We wanted to do this for a long time.  I researched and it was very helpful when others post.  We are not professionals.  We did NOT check with the manufacturer before install.  I still don't have the camera I would like and not a "pro" at programs and Photoshop.  I think of myself as an average housekeeper so showing you these aren't the easiest on my pride.  Bought this dp last year and it is a 2001.  We are the second owner so what you see came with it.  Now that should about cover it. lol  Hope the links work!  Oh and we really like this warm, soft step, easy to clean Konecto flooring!

Very nice!  Love the color.

The first link (video) worked for me.  The second link I had to copy and paste.

Thanks for sharing!

Very nice work - is this a "Pergo" type flooring put in as floating?

Yes, this is floating. It is put down like laminate but is not at all like laminate finish. The best part is no noise when walking on it and it is very "cushiony" to stand on.

Well, I am certainly NOT a flooring or RV expert.  Shoot, I wouldn't say I was expert in anything.  But, what does "floating mean for sure, and could it be a problem with shifting in a moving vehicle?

Also, did it seem to be about the same weight as the carpet?

And for the camera and Photoshop....just about any camera will take good photos and Photoshop is one of three imaging software packages that I use on a very limited basis.  (I don't "manipulate" much of anything in my photos.)  But, while Photoshop is good, it isn't the one I use the most.  When the other two get REALLY outdated, then I'll have to learn Photoshop more.  I only bought it because one photo printer purchase would NOT operate with either of my other two software packages.

Live is for living, loving, and sharing.   Worry shouldn't be a part of the picture.  Crop it out!

Terry

Terry, It is the same as laminate in that it is not glued down. We have it bordered in trim to keep it in place. It doesn't move. The carpet and pad that we replaced were very thick and heavy. This flooring may be a bit heavier. We started our fulltime in a 23 ft. mh so we don't have much weight.
Thanks for looking!

The carpet on the slides appears to be in better shape(or maybe we just have a fear of attempting that yet) so we left that and tore everything up to the edge that the slide comes over. "butted" the new flooring up to the edge and cut with a sharp vinyl knife. Decided on a line to stop at going toward the living room and then purchased a regular carpet to lino strip from the hardware store. Picked up some nice oak at the lumber yard and my dh made a nice trim(stained and laquered to match cabinets) to go around edges as the carpet was laid down before the cabinets and some strings remained.
I hated that carpet in the kitchen and bathroom! It didn't seem soo bad.........until we started taking it up....yukkk!
We may change the other flooring but I do like carpet in the living and bedroom....comes right after the new ceiling fan, custom dinette........ahhh the list goes on and on.

Great job Janice. Are you for hire? smile

Seriously, nothing feels finer than to look at a completed project and say WOW that looks good.

Thank you for the nice comment Jerry/Carol. There is a lot of gratification in a job that turns out well. My intent was to share information. I REALLY appreciate what others here have shared with me.
