Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

this is a question for full & part timers.  who has a list of important papers/documents that you feel is a must to have with you on the road?

these are only a few that come to my mind:

rv insurance policy

truck insurance policy

health insurance policy

vehicle titles

receipts for big ticket items, ie generators, satilite systems, ect.

birth certificates

passports

wills/living wills

financial information=list of accounts, log-ins, passwords

Was easy for us, there was no where else to store important stuff, it had to go with us in the coach. Now that we're part-timers I guess we need to think about this a little more...

Probably want your Marriage Certificate also. And Divorce papers if appropriate.

I have a home fire resistant safe I'm planning to bring with me when I go full time. It's heavy but I feel will be worth the weight penalty to keep papers and valueables safe. Something to consider , and do many others use safes?

We have a small fire safe lock box we keep the extra cash, passports, birth certificates, vehicle titles in etc. It doesn't hold a whole lot of things, but seems to have space for what we need so far.

Since we full-time and do not use storage, everything is with us.

What was appropriate for scanning onto disk, I did so.

Don't forget to include medical records in your list and tax returns, if appropriate.

If you were military, your DD214. All most all paperwork that doesn't need to be notarized is scanned into one of the computers then backed up on the back up disc and a 16GB flash drive that is kept in the truck. Try not to keep much paperwork, takes weight, space and extra fire hazard.

If you have family or some trusted person living in s/b, why take any papers? Just about anywhere is 24 hours away from anywhere else (overnight USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.) If I had all those important papers with me and my rig caught fire, they all go up in smoke. I believe it is more important to keep the real important stuff in a safe deposit box in a bank, and have a family member or trusted person have access to the key.
