Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Thanks Racerguy! That's what I've been doing. Sometimes being such a newbie, I hate to ask questions because they seem so "duh". But I know......if I don't ask, I'll never know. :)
My website isn't really "beginner" stuff.....it is more RV Technical oriented. But it might help you with some questions..... link in the sig line.

Ditto what Racer Guy and Jack said. Forums and blogs are based on experience and opinions. Best source of information are from those who live the lifestyle.
I'm not crazy about books because most are outdated by the time they are published. (FYI, I did pick up a book about RVing and laughed when the author made a comment about their Radio Shack TRS-80 computer. Like I said ... outdated.)
Plus, the author may not be available for Q&A after you've read the book.
You can read Jack's well written information and if you have a question, he will respond.
On this site, I would be surprised if someone would ever criticize a question as "duh". You may do well to search the site first because the questions you may have been answered.
By the way. Welcome to the forum.

i found the forums and mostly the blogs most useful.. .we have been on the road fulltime for less than six months and my blog in the early going may have some useful stuff. We also just went to the bookstores and looked thru anything rv related... also we lived in a college town so during game day we went and talked with the tailgaters about their rigs... good luck
I spent a lot of time LOOKING for RV info and how to's. I found all my answers with Mark Polks www.rveducation101.com - great DVDs and straight forward information. Saved a lot of searching and trying to find the right info and not just someones opinion - these DVDs give you the straight scoop. This is information provided my one of the top RV experts in the USA today. I bought 3 DVDs and could not be happier with the knowledge presented.
Thanks RVPainter! I was hoping there would be something like this out there. I've found a couple of books but not exactly what I was wanting. I'll check out these DVDs. Knowledge is the most important asset if I'm going to be able to fulfill this dream.
There is a tremendous amount of knowledge in these DVDs and what I like it is in one place on the DVD!!! He has a DVD for so many subjects. Talking to people is great but I think you need your own understanding of how things work and what makes them work. With such knowledge you can ascertain when someone may be just giving you their opinion - which may not fall under the catagory of knowledge. These DVDs are not intended to make you an RV mechanic - it is How-What-Why of the workings of an RV. Also some very good preventative maintenance sections as well.
