Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi All! We just purchased a 2012 Fleetwood Discovery 40G and it has 2 inverters, one for the residential refer and another for everything else. The question is, when plugged into shore power should I turn off the inverters or does it really matter? Thank you for any advice. Ray
Hello everyone. Hubby and I are looking forward to nice weather and going camping. We are experiencing an ice storm here in a Minnesota right now. Very nasty!
I retired earlier this year and Hubby plans to retire in May. We have a workcamper position for the summer in Mpls / St Paul area. We are hopeful...
i have 280watts of panels and a controller hooked to two 6v batteries. So, I have about 100ah usable from the batteries. I think I'm correct on that. Question is can I put a 12v battery in the mix, two 6v in series then parallel a 90ah 12v. Would I boost usable power by 90 ah or ?. I'm assuming taking the...
We found our tow vehicle now....we bought a 2015 Ford F350 DRW 6.7l diesel. Our fifth wheel is weight rated at 16,000 pounds and we have decided on the B&W Companion RVK3300 (20k hitch that fits the factory puck system in the F350). I see them out there now for $997 pretty much everywhere I look. W...
Hello lovely people! I am new to RV life in general and am planning to jump right into boondocking. I've been doing a lot of research online, and I've learned enough to understand that I have barely learned anything at all. There's a lot of technical knowledge needed to undertake figuring o...
While visiting Cedar Key, Fl. we ran across the Key Lime Cake at 83 West Bar and Grill. It was a 37 mile run one way down to the Key and after the first slice we were back 2 more times to enjoy the ice cold Blue Moon and cake. Lola went online to google and found a recipe and my gosh. For all you sweet tooth folk...
We are in supply mode for our Full time adventures and I'm realizing my favorite old cookbooks may be no help. I am also leary of counting on my Pinterest boards for all of my Instant Pot and other Recipes I have been gathering As I can't count on always having wifi. I have always loved my Farm Journal Coun...

I have a very low mileage (65,000) 2005 GMC Sonoma with topper. Should I keep it for my new toad or is it not a good candidate? Also, why don't more RVrs put the toad on a trailer vs dolly or 4 wheels down. Wouldn't the trailer cost be less over time than wear and tear on toad?
Have any of you ever had to replace your fresh water pump? I ask because we'll be mostly boondocking in our rig. New Mexico (VLA!!!) Arizona and extreme Socal in the winter (Bagdad, Amboy other places along 66), comfortable places in the summer, with lots of sun, a place on the water and world-class tro...
I didn’t want a dually truck. Like most people, I imagined many issues with the width. Most of that was unfounded, I assumed it would not go thru car washes and drive thru‘s. The fact is that if your SRW truck MIRRORS will fit, then a dually will fit. Another fact is that a dually is a superior towing ve...
Time to get rid of our old fire extinguishers and get some new ones. I thought it would be a piece of cake. I'd just go to Mac the Fire Guy's website and he'd tell me what I should get and sell it to me. But his website doesn't seem to be maintained and there is no store on it anymore. I can't even find the inf...
Well we are upgrading again , just put in our order for a 2018 Tiffin Phaeton 40IH , we are trading in our 2016 Fleetwood Expedition 38K ,it's been a good coach ,very few problems, but the Phaeton with the powerglide chassis and floor plan sold us but unfortunately the dealer didn't have the color and opt...
I've been researching RV solar for a little while, now, as the better half and I are planning on the Class A life (Did the van by the river thing as a young musician, I want it more comfy than that, now) and one of the things the industrious and resourceful solar-seeker can do to increase the capacity of the...
We travelled from Del Rio, TX to Van Horn, TX yesterday, and were thrown for a loop at Alpine. On the way out of town heading north on Hwy. 90, there is an underpass with a posted clearance of only 13'7" - and this once you are already on the single-lane downhill grade. We stopped and pulled over onto the nar...
Hello all, I'm having a problem I'm hoping I can get some help with. We have an under-mounted kitchen sink which is held up with clips that are screwed into a few pieces of plywood that are in turn glued to the bottom of the countertop. The issue is that the glue is failing, and the plywood is slowly separat...
I am sitting in the sun dreaming about our plans for the next month. We will be leaving Mexico a little early this winter to be back in the states for a trip to Southeast Asia (Thailand, Cambodia & Viet Nam) in mid March. That will leave a few weeks window of time in Arizona to try something different...
I did find a couple other threads, but nothing to terribly recent so wanted to throw it out again. I am trying to talk Lee into getting a cat and the number one obstacle is where to put the litter box. Looking for some creative places to put the box where it will be out of sight and out of mind. I am in an Open...
It took me awhile but the Rally in Pigeon Forge pushed my wife over to my side and is now agreeing that we need to go full-time. We are about to list our house and I told my boss I will be resigning my federal government civil service position in the April timeframe. My wife (Jari) is legally blind due to Mult...
I am considering buying a Breville smart oven for our RV. Does anyone who has one find it a problem moving around on the counter while you are driving I imagine it has rubber feet that would grip and it is probably heavy and would not move but not sure
We are finally within a few months of hitting the road and I'm finding it overwhelming! With so many choices, how do you decide where to go? We are thinking of leaving Missouri in May to head northwest to national parks. My little table is covered with books, maps and laptop! I'm thinking I'm way over str...
Last January we purchased a 2105 Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk to tow behind our motorhome. We have over 30,000 miles, 7,000 to 10,000 of it being flat towed. No problems until this November. We were towing on a paved but somewhat bumpy road. All of sudden we felt violent rocking in the rig and in the rear...
Hi Howard, I've decided to go solar with my rig and I'm a little nervous about making the correct connections. I've read other comments and seen wiring diagrams, but still a little apprehensive. To begin with we have a new Venture Sport trek TT. I replaced the 12 volt battery w/2 6volt golf cart batter...
Greetings All, I thought we had chosen Texas to be our new domicile, but now maybe not. I knew we would each need to obtain a Non-Commercial Class A Texas DL and we were under the impression it was only a written test. I just read that a driving test including parallel parking your MH with a TOAD attached...
Hi Guys! Sadly we will not be at this rally as we will still be managing at the park this week, however, since we will only be a few miles away I wanted to offer a "Dreamer friendly" park to those looking for full hook-ups before or after the rally. We are about 7 miles south of town. (Down 95 and then west) La P...
