Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

GMC Sonoma for toad

I have a very low mileage (65,000) 2005 GMC Sonoma with topper. Should I keep it for my new toad or is it not a good candidate? Also, why don't more RVrs put the toad on a trailer vs dolly or 4 wheels down. Wouldn't the trailer cost be less over time than wear and tear on toad?

When you get to an RV park, you have to find a place for your and your toad. Sometimes this is a problem and there will be an extra charge.

Check into it.  I looked at the Motorhome magazine's Downloadable Dinghy Guide site, and they didn't list the Sonoma among the GMC products that could be towed four down.  If you were to stay with the Sonoma, you would have to have either a dolly to put the drive wheels on or a trailer to carry the whole vehicle.  With that in mind, you would need RV sites with enough room for everything.

Thank you both for the input. Might just go ahead and sell "snoball". She was a good little girl while I needed her!

I think if it has a standard transmission, most of that would go away. Also, look to see if they list the Chevy S10. If they do, the Sonoma is GMC's S10.

This thread is two years old.  If considering any of the information within this thread, be sure and verify it to be sure it is still pertinent.

As a reminder, the owners of the forum would prefer that we not revive threads that are much over a year old.  If one wants to comment or ask a question, it is sometimes better to start a new thread.
