Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Many of you know I have extensive info on my website on "RV Solar and Electrical Modifications". I OFTEN get asked to produce an ebook on the topic, which I would sell (of course). I wonder if there is much demand for a reasonably priced reference ebook on this topic. I've not looked to see wha...
I have a perfectly good and useable Griswold cast iron griddle that somehow got left in MN when I came south for the winter. So I've been on a quest to find one to use down here, but didn't want to spend a lot of money duplicating something I already own. I've been haunting the flea markets and yard sales for...
Lurker here, but had to post and show off?? my new home-to-be. I've been living in a 30' KZ Sportsman all summer, but it's way bigger than I want or need, so I'd been looking at smaller trailers, lots of older ones that perhaps I could redo/customize etc. When I stumbled across this, though, it just grabb...
Hi Linda (and all the other full-timing ladies out there!) We're working out the details of going full-time. Starting to look feasible. We've taken several long trips with our current 5th wheel and feel like it's something we'd like to do more of. We've also spent a few months in it when Johnny had h...
Been dreaming; nay, moved "dream" to "plan" for the past 2 years already. We're already FT'ing in our minds; just selling the house is the only thing holding us back. We've been slowly trying to make many cosmetic repairs (but money obstacles keep getting in the way). The ho...
Does anyone have experience selling at swap meets, fairs or farmer's markets while on the road? What about interstate commerce? Such as seller's permits, etc? Advice and wisdom appreciated! Jane
Were putting all our plans on hold for the time being due to a daughter that will hopefully will lose her child. Seems our daughter thinks the universe is about her and not her son, likes to use drugs and has ruined all relationships with every family member or any one she has lived with. Our prime priori...
Wondering about DP fuel mileage between a tag and a single driver axle, as some single axle RV's are close to the gross weight. Being a tag requires a larger turning rad, there must be a resistence factor Have also noticed that jake brakes are covered with service policys as its an internal lubricat...
I'm a little tardy with this post, my only excuse is "family visit = chaos". I'm sure there are more than a few of you who can understand that comment We combined a family visit, Christmas and New Year's with the purchase of our new 5v'er just to add a little more chaos to the mix, knowing we w...
So has anyone been private messaged on here? This has not been a good week for me online wise. If you read my previous post about the scammer. Just wondering how the message would have come through? I could see if it was by my email, but this was a private message on here?
New Years Day and have been driving out of the LA Basin to the 10 Freeway past Palm Springs. In oncoming traffic, every 4th or 5th vehicle is an RV heading West. Makes me wonder if there are that many ahead & behind us going east?
Perfect travel day for us as traffic is very, very light.
Sherry &...
Hi, Not sure if this is a state specific question (I live in NJ). What are the tax implications (capital gains) if I sell my house and roll it over into an RV? I imagine that's not recognized as another house and we'd get hit pretty hard. I hope someone will tell me I'm wrong! Also... we plan to establis...
I am married however my husband travels for his job and is gone 90% of the time. I am a mother of 3 grown children and we have 2 young grandkids under 3 years of age. I live 4 hours away from any family members going in different directions in Texas. We have made the decision to try out fulltime RVing, we are lo...
Ok I need some advice on how to help my daughter adjust to living in the RV. We have been fulltiming since November. My 4 year old is now telling me that she doesn't like living in the RV. We have 22 ft. Class C motorhome. She sleeps above the cab and my husband and I are on the couch pull out. She keeps saying th...
I am not sure if there are many constuction hands that read this forum. We are going to have alot of jobs in southwest Louisiana in the next couple years. My company has announced a 21 billion dollar expansion. About 5000 constuction and 1200 permanent jobs. There are several LNG plants that are expan...
I have not read many good things about this slideout. It seems more manufacturers are using this in the bedroom slides. We are looking for a new fifthwheel to fulltime in. I am leary about buying something that has problems. I have a few questions. 1) If you have one, have you had any issues? 2) Would you...
I have thought about buying a new 5er from dealers that are alot cheaper but not anywhere close to my location. Has anyone had any experience in buying one you cannot physically see other than pictures or have them do a walk through with you but have to wait until its delivered to you? It kind of makes...
My name is Tracie and my husband Shad and I moved one step closer to the full time life yesterday and bought a bus conversion! We are super excited and hope to have our house sold and be on the road by the end of summer '13. We are in our early 40's and are currently living in Lubbock, TX. Shad is lucky eno...
Glad I found this forum. Bob and I relocated 4 years ago from Louisiana to Michigan due to a job transfer with General Motors and now we are seriously looking at retirement this year. I am not sure we want to RV full time but want to RV "lots of time". We have children in LA, TX and FL and miss se...
There is so much innovation going on, hope something comes of all of it, without too much red tape. This article is about some Palestinian college students who invented a device which can convert plastic waste into gasoline, kerosene or diesel. Wouldn't it be cool to have a portable device on our rigs...
My wife and I are 55 and 56 and are trying to determine if we will have enough money to start full-timing in a year. We will have almost $1,000,000 saved but still need to buy a used motorhome for $125K - $150K and 1/3 of our savings we can't access until we almost 60. We plan to stay in national/state parks...
We have a 2008 Jayco Designer 5th wheel. We worked at Amazon in Coffeyville, Kansas this past Christmas season. When it was time to leave, it was 16 degrees outside after having been below freezing for several nights. Kevin pushed the button to entend the landing gear and there was a clunking sound and...
Just ordered new tires, upgraded to the ones suggested on the forum. We were going with Goodyear G114, 215/75R17.5 H instead of the G614. Now we need to figure out what wheels we need to go with the "New" axles we will need to get. The axles will be Dexter 8000 lb. The local dealer that is...
Located a CrockPot just the right size for me and my RV. The only bad thing it does not have a temperature control or on and off switch; needs to be unplugged. I took a can of Progesso chicken and rice soup added some small whole potatoes and a half diced yellow onion with a dash of Mrs Dash garlic and tomato...
Anyone in Florida and going to the RV show in Tampa, we're having a get together at the hospitality tent January 17 at 11:30. http://www.frvta.org/rv-shows/florida-rv-supershow/We hope to see you!
Ok a touchy subject to be sure, I know they have special dissolving toilet paper , but what I would like to know could use use baby wipes instead , my late wife Niki started me using that at home, dont want to clog up the toilet feature on my future RV?????
In case we have to boondock overnight on our way to Indiana, any tips on keeping us and the rig warm when the furnace is out of order? If we are boondocking, we probably won't have the slides open, or at least all of them. Perhaps just one, depending on the situation. We will try to stay in campgrounds wher...
Longtime lurker, first time poster here. Long story short we are planning to be on the road FT sometime next year. We were in a position where we were going to have to wait until we sold the house until I happened across a local listing for this bus at a reasonable price. We saw her in person today and rea...
