Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Were putting all our plans on hold for the time being due to a daughter that will hopefully will lose her child. Seems our daughter thinks the universe is about her and not her son, likes to use drugs and has ruined all relationships with every family member or any one she has lived with. Our prime priority is now in getting guardianship of our 6 yr old grandson and working with child protention agencys in two countys to acchev that. When she stated to them we use drugs and other false accuasuations to CPS it is game on with her, also is that he failed kindergarden and she had him go in a cup to pass a drug test, is what reallly got our dander up.

Anyhow we do not want this cute little guy to get caught up in that lifestyle and culture, and to have a better or bright future is paramount to us. We have had him for three days now and what is so fantastic is he asked if he could say grace before dinner, I cant do that at home (his words), he said grace perfect, and that to me was priceless.

So perhaps Im venting a bit but little Tony will be worth every second of our efforts.

Have a great day....John

John,

Sorry to her about your daughter. I absolutely think you are doing the right thing with your grandson. Right now it's all about the little one and for me full timing would be a distant second.

John, we can sympathize with you and your situation. Tony is blessed to have you. And, since we are also very involved in helping to raise our 2-1/2 year old granddaughter, we can safely say that YOU are blessed to have him as well. God bless.

Come back to visit and keep us updated.

Along with Joe and Sherry, we've run into lots of other folks who are traveling and raising kids... their own or grandkids. In fact we're working at Amazon.com right now with a couple who are raising their granddaughter on the road. Grandma is working the night shift with us and Granddad has days. That way someone is always home with their little girl.

Take things one at a time... custody first and then go from there.

Merry Christmas to all of you!

God bless you and I hope you are successful in rescuing this precious child. Every child deserves the right to be raised by loving adults and have a normal childhood. You may have a higher calling now.

Wow, that's so tough. Bless your hearts for taking care of that child! Drugs are an awful addiction and a very tough row to hoe to use a very old expression. I'm sad for your daughter too.

I like the suggestions above and hope one or two work out for you.

Wishing you the very best whatever your future holds.

Sherry & Jesse

PS, this is a good place to vent!

John, Go ahead and vent. Our lives can change in a split second can't they? Whatever you decide to do it will be good because you made this decision. He sounds like an amazing young man. You can be proud.
Drugs are a tough subject and I never thought I would live to see the day that "recreational" drugs became legal :( Just about everything is a go these days I guess......

Thanks so much to each and everyone of you for your support...

We was contacted this week by his father of which we lost contact with. We visited him and his extended family and will do all we can to get them togather being that our daughter failed to follow up with full custody. Little Tony is so Jazzed to see and be with his dad. His father is parilized from the waist down and lives with his family. Being that there is no custody issue he is seeking leagal help to secure his son from the lousy inviorment he was previously in.

being my wife has a medical issue to tke care of and when this is done...its back to getting ready to FT...if the Lord is willing and the creek dont rise LOL

A big hug from both of us and a big wish for your Merry Christmas...God Bless.......john

Wow!  That would be good for the little guy.  Everyone should have the opportunity to really know their dad.  While it is sad that her use of drugs may "taint" his memory of his mother, here is hoping that her future could be better as well.

It is wise to keep planning, as one never knows what will happen.

Good luck.

Terry

Jwar: Nice to hear your life is now going in the right direction and your grandson will enjoy being with his dad, I'm sure. I also hope your daughter gets the help she needs to conquer the addiction. It is so sad when some one loses their loved one to drugs, as their is not much one can do to help them until they admit they have a problem and want to ask for help. Pieere

Life is definitely a roller coaster ride, isn't it?  Just wanted to wrap my arms around you and say . . . you're not alone in this.  I have a 25 year old daughter in prison. She is a heroin addict.  When I speak or write those words, they still seem so foreign to me . . . unreal, unbelievable. It's like watching a horror movie.  She has been in and out of jail and recovery for 7 years, nearly died of a nasty infection from using dirty needles, has seemed to reach what we thought was the "bottom" so many times . . . but has always returned to the addiction.

She gets out in March after a year long recovery program while incarcerated.  I hold on to the highest hope that THIS TIME, is THE TIME.  All indications are that she is taking this seriously now - in order to get back to being a mom to her four year old son.  Time will tell.

If you need a shoulder or a hand to pull you along through this - I'd be honored to do that.

Jwar and Bruce & Trish: Remember Don't hate the person......Hate the drugs!! Almost lost my youngest daughter to the Crack Cocaine. She has 5 and 1/2 yrs. clean now.

I kept telling her that God doesn't make junk; she thought she was bad and no one loved her!!! Tell her that with every conversation we have. I have four wonderful grand-children and a wonderful son-in-law who sttod by her.
