Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
On Thursday afternoon (2018-08-23) I pulled into the parking lot of the Pilot Travel Center just off IH-40 Exit 161 at 3300 Highway 391, North Little Rock, AR 72117. After going inside to purchase food for dinner I returned to my Fleetwood Tioga RV - a 24ft Class C motorhome and Ford E350 conversion - a...
Does anyone know what the weight capacity is on the shower seat pictured below? I'm not sure if it's designed to be sat upon, or if it's more for using to lean one's foot upon for shaving or stuff like that. Post-surgery, I need to sit in the shower and the commode seat I have doesn't fit. This shower sea...
Hello, folks. I am in the process of fixing up an old Class C. I put in a new house battery, in the engine compartment, and have not hooked it up yet because I am going to add two more batteries to the bank. (I don't think my 200W solar panels will fit on the roof, but I'll figure that out...) The new batteri...
My husband and I travel with our dog, Charlie Chihuahua. He is small, but fierce. Traveling with a chihuahua who thinks he's a pit bull makes life interesting!
Hello All,It has come time to replace our trucks rear dully tires and I’m unsure what to select. Last August I replaced the front tires with Goodrich Rugged Trail TA which were the OEM.My question is should I now put matching tires in the rears or can I use something else? If I use something else do you hav...
I am considering installing a large solar system on the roof of a TT for extended boondocking with full amenities - five or six, 4x8 ft (nominal) panels. However, as I look at almost all RV roofs I see a large number of things projecting from them, from tank and reefer vents to opening skylights and even t...
I ran across this today and I thought it was food for thought. I've heard the same things, from other sources, as I've heard here about tire age but this seems to refute that. I haven't gone to Bandag and looked at what they have to say but I do believe it's something to think about, especially for those w...
We have a new 5th wheel. We are getting ‘track marks’, (indentations) from the slide out on entertainment side. Is this normal. Is there something I can buy to put on the floor to protect it. (I only see the plastic runners for carpet and these will not work on laminate.) Should this be happening on a n...
I recently bought an '87 Jamboree with the intent of gutting it and installing a mobile sharpening service. But the more I dug into the coach the better the mechanical systems looked (aesthetics need some work, of course). Then, while planning the shop layout, I realized the actual volume of my equip...
Just wanted to post a update on our 2018 RAM 3500. We have had it almost had it a year now and have put 25,000 miles on it during our first year of ownership. I have always been a die hard GM fan for many years having owned many GM cars and trucks including a several GM Duramax trucks. Our GM Duramax trucks were...
Hello, this is our first year owning a Damon Breckenridge Park Model camper. It has two slide outs. I've been hearing different things about whether they should be brought in for the winter. Does anyone have any insight?
A few years ago, when we were planning I would visit RV dreams almost daily. I certainly learned a lot and got plenty of information. From the journal and the forum. But as with much in life, until you do it is when you learn a bit more. To those planning, perhaps some insight, to those who have been living t...
My DW and I am going FT the first of the year and have been considering TX as our state of Domicile. However I have been recently crunching the numbers and it looks like my current and long time state of residency of Louisiana makes more financial sense as my state of domicile during my retirement years. I...
OK, we know rig issues are all part of the lifestyle. The back story. Our motorhome ignition key was "spinning" as in 11o clock position is off, 3 o clock is start, 1 o clock is on. I had to turn it to 6 o clock to start 3 would be on and 1 would be off. Issue started just before need for an oil change, they tigh...
We have a 2017 F350 Super Duty Crew Cab Long Box truck. The top of the bed rails is about 60" when empty. We just purchased a 2008 Domani and the owner is delivering it to us as we do not have the 5er hitch mounted yet. He is throwing in his 22K Reese hitch. In measuring everything I could, I see that it might be a...
How many of you spend 3 or more months in one place during the winter? During most of the year we move every 1- 2 weeks with a few one month stays. in the winter over the last 2 years we will stay 1 month at each stop. We are looking at changing or travel style a little and maybe staying 5-6 months in one place for...
Hello everyone and thanks in advance. Ive been reading a lot of the other topics everyone has been talking about and they all have been helpful. Especially for an RV newbie like me. even those have been helpful, I still cant figure out mines. so I’ll try to list out as much details as I can. I just recent...
Does anyone know what medicare supplement is good when you are full timing and living all around the United States? Thanks for your input, Linda and Patrick
This is Jerry and Betty in Texas and have just signed on. We have both just retired after putting in over 105 collective years of working. Since 2004, we have traveled by car to most of our USA for fun, to meet friends or family and we've done it by taking 2-3 week trips and staying in the hotels. We now want...
Hello, How is everyone doing? My wife and I are starting the research and planning to become full timers. After raising several children successfully, we would like to get out and do something together with just us and the dogs. We enjoy traveling and seeing new places and just enjoy life all around....
Hello my name is Chris. My wife and I have been rving since 1989. We full timed for two years from 2013 to 2015 but health issues and family issues have taken us off the road. We currently do not have an rv. Our last was a 40 foot Winnebago Ultimate Advantage. That was the rig we full timed in. We are st...
Vinson-Olson. We are planning to purchase either a towable or a MH (C) and it was suggested yesterday (by a reply to my first post) that we think about renting one before we venture out. With a rental, I have the question of insurance for the unit. I would like to know approx. cost for the period of time we a...
My wife and iI just purchased our first fifth wheel. We have had several motor homes, but this fifth wheel has electric waste tank dump valves. Has anyone experienced any problems with them? Ours are hidden by the underbelly and I am just curious if we had an issue with them, how would we deal with it? Th...
In the process of researching a purchase. What information can you all give on the real skinny of offering a purchase price? I've got the new car purchase down pat. Research dealer invoice on specific model and options (it's out there), and then offer $200 over invoice. It's worked perfectly for...
We headed to see the Oregon Coast a couple weeks before Labor Day. These last weekends before school begins are popular along the coast and no reservations were to be had. We picked a few first come type places and headed to Tillamook. The Ashley Inn is a small modern hotel with about 10 level concrete...
Dear Fellow Full-timers, This is a "controlled substance", we take for anxiety disorder. Have done so for years, we wintered in FL and found an MD who would write an RX, well now we're travelling to Montana. Next state we will be in for a bit is Kansas, found out that a "walk-in" will not write an RX. Our p...
So today we made a 5 hour move from Illinois to Minnesota. When we arrived in MN it was raining cats and dogs. Got out, got good and wet, then came inside and took a hot shower. No doubt, this was the worst arrival we have had in our two years of full timing. But, now that I think about it ... if this is the wo...
