Was wondering if you would mind saying what Agent/Broker you went through to get your new Health Insurance in Florida? Since I retired two years ago, Health Insurance coverage is my biggest monthly expense, as we are not 65 yet. I thought I may give them a try and see if they could do better than my current coverage.
We went through Guidewell Insurance Agency. They got the job done and the young lady I worked with responded to my calls and emails timely. But I wouldn't exactly give them a glowing recommendation.
We've been recommending ehealthinsurance.com for years as an easy way to get quotes in multiple states/zip codes on multiple plans without having to provide a lot of upfront personal information. However, since the start of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), they are not as helpful if you are getting insurance in the middle of a year (outside open enrollment) and have to prove a Qualifying Event.
Had we not needed insurance in the middle of the year due to a domicile change, we probably wouldn't have used an agency. With that said, health insurance pricing is the same whether you use an agent or not and a good agency can help you muddle through the administrative red tape now required to get coverage, especially if you want or need a subsidy through the ACA.
