Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Someone mentioned this in the welcome folder and then another lady solo from another forum emailed me on this topic so figured I'd get a thread started. For me the first big fear will be driving in general....I like small vehicles and love my motorcycle for its ability to get out of the way. <g> I p...
We are having a hard time finding a place to do workcamping. We have been looking at AZ and CA. We have looked on all the sites I have seen other dreamers post. The camps are all excepting and offering us jobs but when they find out we have a family they say the position has been filled. We do have other source...
Any of my NJ pals going to be at the RV show in Edison this weekend? Nowhere as large as Tampa or even Atlantic City, but there are some good things to see.
My almost-son-in-law in NC has had a couple really bad rental experiences and so he is looking at buying a 5th wheel to live in, parking it at a campground that has year-round residents, it's on a lake and very close to his work. I don't know what propane costs are there, or if the park he is thinking about a...
Obviously this is an individual decision and depends on your personal viewpoint but I'm just looking for any ideas from those who may have gone on one to see if there's a consensus opinion on how long is long enough. Connie and I are looking at maybe going on a South Africa trip this summer…the one we're l...
Our Samsung 42 incher died last night…from the symptoms when it went it looks like the power supply failed. I frankly haven't tried to get a TV repaired in probably 20 years…and given the more than likely single circuit board construction construction that electronics use these days was wondering w...
for your encouraging words and good advice about earning money on the road, and that if there is a will, there is a way! I'm getting closer to doing the happy dance all the time!
So, we are getting our 2006 Winnebago Outlook 326A ready for an extended journey, and are encountering the sulfur smell coming out of the water heater (apparently caused by bacteria proliferating in water left in the heater while it was stored...yay!). We have already done a bleach flush of the hea...

Yes that's right, that's where we're at. Bernie & Angie Paul, we have a 1999 Fleetwood American Dream 40' diesel pusher. 330hp Cummins and an HD3060 Allison. We got this unit in May of 2012 from out of Kissimmee, Florida. We haven't done any long distance excursions with it yet other than the huge t...
We read the posts about the short bed vs long bed, but how about towing with a megacab short box vs a quad cab? Since the megacab is a long chassis, that should offer a stable ride like a longbed even though it has a 6 ft bed, correct? Any other issues to consider with the shorter bed megacab? This would be...
My wife and I visited an RV dealer yesterday and looked at some fifth wheels, then decided to look at some motorhomes for comparison. We were impressed with one that had a lot of ammenities we like (Winnebago Voyage). We sat in the coach for half an hour and really liked it. We thought of a lot of que...
We have narrowed our search to a used (2006+) Tiffin Allegro Bus or a Phaeton. I am leaning toward the bus for the side radiator (easier maintenance and less cleaning) and independent front suspension. For our budget, we could buy a couple year newer Phaeton vs the Bus. Since most DPs have rear radiat...
The 5th wheel is ordered so we are preparing for the upcoming walk through when it is delivered. from everything I have read the walk through is absolutely critical to avoiding hassles in the first year. Suggestions on what to make sure they cover in the walk through? -- Edited by Trace on Saturday 1...
We just started full timing while waiting for my retirement date at the end of March. We are living in our 1990 36' Airex in a friend's pasture. Everything was going well until a few days ago when the furnace stopped working. I started the generator and plugged in a small electric heater to get throug...
Hi all, just bought my new-to-me 1998 Fleetwood Flair, it is in the shop being serviced and checked out. The adviser looked at the battery for starting the engine ( Chevy 454) it is a Wal-Mart special with 650 CCA. He suggested that I replace soon with an AC-Delco 800 or 850CCA. Any advice would be apprec...

I was diagnosed about 1.5 yrs ago with systemic sarcoidosis. I had never heard of it, most have not. We had already been planning our FT RV dream for over 2 years when this occured, and we have decided not to let the illness change our dream. We actually bought our 5th wheel last Friday!!! Now to buy...
Okay, steady now....we met and talked to a realtor today. I am excited, anxious, nervous and excited! Another step towards freedom. We have to do some minor fixes to the S&B. I guess I dread the house selling process, but at least we have our new house in the driveway I don't know, I guess I just wan...
Do U have the urge to buy an older camper and turn it into your own creation? I found an article about a couple who bought a 1965 camper and gutted the inside. Excellent photos of the interior modifications. The link to the article: http://www.viralnova.com/camper-project/ Edit by moderator:...
Why does every MH I look at have 2 couches across from each other and then another dinette set on top of the two driver seats. There is NOBODY out there that is crazy enough to carry around 10 people in a MH. Well maybe 1 or 2, but the majority of people who can afford a diesel pusher MH is only going to have a...

We are looking for advice on which truck to purchase and what it must have to be able to pul our new 5th wheel that we are also looking for. After many hours of research and the creation of a complicated matrix! we've selected South Dakota as our home state. No shock there I know but I needed to do the research myself before making the final decision. :). Next step select a mailing service which will give us a final zip code, very helpful...
Don't be this stupid. Or if you are, make sure no one takes photos or video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZFCHk1XCDY Mac McClellan (Gambler) posted this on the Escapees forum. Dash cams are everywhere and one GPS shown at CES had one built-in. Also check some of the other videos shown once...
Well since my other half and I will be younger than retirement age for medical, I have been wondering what healthcare coverage will cost. Kentucky where we are from is number 5 on the unhealthiest state in the union. Although my husband and i have not had an serious health issues or premiums will be a l...
Does any one have a way to stabilize the little table that goes between the 2 front seats in a class A? We love using this little table to eat at and leave the other one for laptops but it's a little lose in the hole and if you bump it any thing you have in a glass spills. Any one have any great ideas to make it t...
I hope I can express this as well as I'd like to. We read with interest the various lifestyle and activities and locations that you all share on here and we're learning that what we THOUGHT we'd prefer evolves as we go into our 8th month full-timing. We've found that we really enjoyed staying a few nights...
Two "idea" books for workamping that I own and think are worthwhile for brainstorming ideas are 1. Support Your RV Lifestyle by Jaime Hall Bruzenak and 2. RoadWork II by Arline Chandler. There is a lot of "food for thought" in them. You can always check your local library or...
