Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hey Everyone....We are looking at buying a new camper to live in while we are building our house plus using it to vacation in. In the past we have only owned a toy hauler and really didnt check it out very carefully before we bought it. Although, we enjoyed it and had no problems with it. Now that we will be living in this one for a short time plus hoping that it will last for many years. With that being said we are just trying to educate ourselves outside of the "salesmen" and their spills. We have been looking for a little while and as far as layout and price we "think" these meet both. We are not wanting to spend alot on the camper, we are wanting to stay in the $20's. Our main goal is throwing all our money into the new house and not a camper. We are doing it all debt free preparing for retirement. We really like the layouts of the Trail Runners we have looked at. We are researching and considering the 31RE - 34' 2 slides, 32RLDS - 35' 2 slides, and 31RE -34' - 2 slides. All of these are the 2014. They have full walk on roof construction, It has steel z bar, steel beam, and steel tank supports with full length slide support and loomed wires. It is constructed with hurricane strap, unibody construction and R7 wall system. The camper is completely Formaldehyde free insulation. The floor has R7 and constructed with 5/8 exterior grade decking which is glued and screwed. They all have 15,000 BTU AC (we are in Texas) and is is ducted through the roof. They also come with painted radius metal skirt, power awning, 55 amp converter, gimp free cabinets made of solid hardwood, ball bearing drawer guides, porcelain toilet, glass shower enclosure, the slides are not cable driven. Are these features pretty standard on campers now? Is it a durable camper built well?

Welcome, Gina. Our "learner" was a Heartland mpg. Heartland is usually pretty good about standing behind their products, but remember that only the Landmark, Bighorn, and Big Country (all 5'ers) are full-time rated. We bought our mpg new and sold it two years later. We didn't lose as much as we thought we would, but it still was a chunk. You might want to consider putting the same money into a used Airstream. No slides, but higher quality and there will be less loss when you sell.
