Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I don't have that particular brand, but on mine in the house and in our TT there is a button for "convection" you must choose to cook in convection mode.
We have a year old Frigidaire Convection Microwave in our 5th wheel. We also had problems at first understanding how to make it work. On the upper left side of the control panel there is a button for convection called "Bake/Brown" that you push first. Then you need to set the temperature with the buttons below and then press the start button. Note that most of the number buttons have a temperature listed below the number. Now the oven will work to get itself up to the temp you selected. As it is working to get to temp, a bar graph will show progress under the temperature selection at the top where the clock is. When the oven has reached the temp you selected, it will beep and the fan will start. You now have a minute or so to put the food in and select a cook time. This is the part we initially had trouble understanding. When the oven reaches the desired temp and beeps, you must open the door of the oven, put the food in and then push the number buttons to select the cook time you want and then push start.
Anyway, that is how our model works. Hope this helps!
Mark

Microwave was defective. Forest River provided a new oven. Can't say enough wonderful things about FR!
But, one more question about this microwave / convection oven ...
It seems very strange to use metal racks when microwaving, but that is what my instruction book states. The oblong rack that sets on clips mounted to the interior walls of oven when microwaving and a round rack (with the plastic on the bottom prongs) for convection oven.
Anyone know if I can use the round convection oven rack WITHOUT the turntable?
you can .." But"........the turntable assists in even distribution of heat in the food , not using the turntable in the microwave mode can overcook the section of food in the wave path or burn it from the inside out
not using the turntable during Convection only causes the reverse effect because you do not have an even airflow
during convection use you cut your recipe time (conventional oven) by 1/4 and lower your temperature by 25 degrees
Sample: 1hour = 45 min
350* = 325*
if you are using both micro/conv. at the same time you need to look at the book for timing and temp for the oven you have due to wattage.
hope this helps

Just an update...after using the convection oven for 2 months, I LOVE it! I've only used the rotating wire rack but plan to bake cookies next week and use the rectangular rack. So far everything has baked as expected. I have made cobbler, French fries, meat loaf, and pork chops.
Baked cookies on oblong rack. Needed to rotate pan but baked just fine. Back left corner baked hotter.
Baked canned crescent rolls last night on round rack on turn table. Not a good turn out. Didn't brown on bottom. I used a glass pan, well try metal next time.
Curious, what brands/models does everybody have? We have a Frigidaire model CFKMV152CLBA. We like it much more than our propane oven, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. Are there better ones? Ours takes longer than gas for everything. We believe we have a lower end unit but who knows. The microwave is only 900w also. If there is a great model out there we maybe interested in replacement.
Thanks!

We have a GE Advantium in our Mobile Suites. While it is a good unit, Jo saw one of the newer models that allows racks to be put inside. Now, she's hoping that the one we have will give out one of these days so she can get a newer one.
