Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We thought maybe it was the washer, but after trial and testing we decided it's storing them under the bathroom sink. Then once we dry off with them and they get damp they stink worse. If I leave them in the dryer and don't fold them they don't smell. Anyone else experienced this? Any suggestion for contr...

Any Canadian travelers out there that can shed some light on this would be great. What do you do for healthcare when traveling throughout Canada and US?
We took delivery on our RV yesterday! It's a 2012 Prime Time Crusader 325RES. LOVE IT!!! Of course we had to sleep in it! Now we're getting really excited about taking off! Can't wait!!
Hi everyone! My husband and I made a committment early this year to go FT in 2-3 years (sooner if my job continues to get worse!) After much discussion on our retirement years fast approaching, we found Linda and Howards website here. We gave serious consideration for over 3 months before deciding j...
Hello All Just thought I would throw this out there. If anyone is heading through north central Kentucky in the next few months and need a place to park for a few days. Rick and I will happily let people mooch-dock at our farm. We are off I-71 at exit 28 between Louisville, KY. and Cincinnati, OH. We a...
I just read Howard's journal for today about the new web site "RVillage". I just went through the few minutes to sign-up and fill out my profile. It was easy and very logical, a quick sign-up. I signed up with a few user group including the RV-Dreams Group. I clicked on the group (I was the 4...
I have been reading a lot of posts and have a couple of basic questions regarding hitches. I have picked up on the fact that a cautious owner would prefer an eight foot bed on the pickup and a fifth wheel hitch over a gooseneck (I have no idea what a gooseneck hitch is intended to do but I gather it is not i...
Have been looking at getting a newer used 5th Wheel and as I look through the classifieds a couple of the tempting ones have been converted to goose neck hitches, but I've got the standard 5th Wheel Hitch in my truck. How hard is it to convert back to the standard hitch if I decide I like one of these after I...
We are about 10 years until retirement but planning for the day. Currently we have a small class C that we love and take good care of so although it will be old when we retire, I expect it to be still in good shape and reliable. We do weekend trips as much as possible and a 2 week trip every summer and just love t...
We're still at Jojoba Hills SKP RV Resort in Southern California but are leaving Wednesday. Last week we attended two different ice cream socials (Jesse NEVER passes up ice cream!). On Monday we met a couple who were visitors to the campground who had just finished workamping at Branson Landing in MO...
Hello! I'm getting a 2014 Coachmen Catalina 33ft. tow behind. I want to add solar (stand alone panels not roof mounted) and I am looking at a 450 watt system. It says you need at least a bank of 4 12v batteries. The company I'm getting the RV from says you can only put two 6V batteries in the compartment. I as...
We have had our own photography business for years, so we have been "together" all the time, but not really together. We live on 35 acres and my DH loves to work out in the yard and I work in the house on the computer. So, we only see each other at meal times and in the evenings. Even in the house,...
Its the first day of spring, it starts in New England @ 12:57 pm EST.......Its snowing!!!!!! -- Edited by Lucky Mike on Thursday 20th of March 2014 07:01:56 AM
As some of you may know, I've got my eyes on a used 2006 Excel Limited. Still awaiting a few possible deal breaker questions such as whether it has generator prep and 50 amp service. Also, will obviously have it professionally inspected first. I vaguely recall a thread discussing the various types o...
We are leaving Springfield Oregon Friday and headed for the coast near Coos Bay. Any recommendations on where we should stay? We would love to test out our new solar system but don't see any free camping options over there.
Hello all. My wife and I have had different campers off and on through out the years and decided to try an RV. We found a used one in our price range but need some guidance to be sure we are not buying something with a bad history. We found a 1991 Ford Cobra MTRH with a diesel motor . The odd thing is it has 3 whe...
I know there has been some discussion about the seniors only campgrounds (or essentially no kids). I really didn't think it mattered to me, one way or the other until .... Spring break. We have been at the same park since September with a few kids, maybe 7 and all very well behaved. Yesterday, a neig...
I saw somewhere...and for the life of me can't remember...a breakdown of full time RV'ers by generation by percentages Greatest Generation Baby Boomers Gen X Millenials Anyone seen those statistics or have them handy??
One issue I never thought I would have when we started this adventure was having enough time to read and reply to the various forums I'm on. Between RV Dreams, Escapee's, Carriage Lifestyle, Dodge Owners, IRV2, My Old RV, and the latest RVillage, and then the stupid FB and children sending texts, I'...
Ok, I've seen a few posts alluding to cutting a hole somewhere (in the steps to the bedroom, in the closet, etc) so that the cat can climb down into the basement area below, where the litter box would be. I'm trying hard to envision this and having some trouble. How does the cat get down there and back up?...
Don't get me wrong, we love our 3 kids, d-i-l and grandbaby to be, but we bought this trailer because it doesn't have a bunk house. This one has room for the dog and several of our cats. We may not be able to retire yet, but we have our weekend retirement home. I love our new trailer. It is big and comforta...
I got a few scratches along the side of our rig while trying to get out of a tight spot. They are from tree branches, most of them are fairly light with one that looks to be deeper. It does not look like there is any paint damage, just on the coating. Any advice on how to get these out and treat the area after re...
Lee and I started a plan back in September to reach our full-timing goal of December 2014 and I wanted pass along a piece of advice. We setup our major milestones along the way knowing that it was important to cross things off the list to feel a sense of accomplishment and stay on the austerity program fo...
It seems my wife (MrsG) has been planning for a few months now, writing it all down; the hows, where's, when's, why's and why not's, etc. So last weekend she says's let's go for a ride and don't be negative, just be open-minded. 'SURE, okay' I reply. She drives us to a RV Lot. We looked over this comple...
Well, I guess I did not have much planned for the weekend so I installed the Reico Titan Leveling System on our Pinnacle 5th Wheel. Installation went great, took a little longer than I expected but the results are well worth the effort and I saved a few $ doing it myself. Total cost of the system with shipp...
Hi everyone, So this is it! I've decided to join this RV-er family and here is my first-ever post to any RV forums! First about myself: I'm almost 40 young (forever young!) woman living in southern MD with my hubby, two kids and an adorable Wheaten Terrier. My hubby is a highly educated scientist whose w...
