Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Once again, I apologize for this lengthy post, but it could potentially save a life (or lives) one day. Please read and make note of the link included herein. Actually, it wouldn't hurt to store this information in your phone! Last week we were not far from home on our way to visit friends at their lake...
We have a Class A now that we used for weekends and vacations. Being retired now for 6 months, sold house etc. moved to rv park in south Texas, finding out that a little more room would help with all the "extras" we brought along. Found a 5th we like but found a lot of different tow specs for our 2...
We have to decide whether or not to buy the extended warranty tomorrow and I am on the fence. It's a new custom order unit so there should be some level of factory warranty...I am just not sure whether to spend the $1675 on the extended warranty. Pros The deductible is only $100 They supposedly have a n...
My wife and I have pretty much determined that we will retire in June of 2017, sell the house and go full time with our daughter who has Down Syndrome. We have had two little hybrids over the last seven years and are looking to take the huge step of moving from a Forest River Solara that can be easily towed w...
We have started our 2014 Spring Adventure across the USA. I am doing field product training on Fridays in all our markets / regions. We started last week in Sarasota Florida, we stayed at the KOA in Davenport FL (Near Orlando) since we had some other customers to see in the area during the week. Did not ta...
I know I'm kind of jumping the gun here a little... I tend to overthink things and plan out too far in advance. Then again, if we're blessed with a quick sale (house listed today), it won't be that far out... I have my eye on what seems to be a great 5'er + truck combo but it's located about 3000 miles away (I...
A number of people have taken a look at our RV questions and our introduction thread. As we are turning our wax tablet plan of retiring in 2017 to hit the road full time with our daughter with Down Syndrome, it has occurred to us that house sitting for some periods could allow us more flexibility in our c...
Anyone have any experience with portable screen rooms that hang under your awning? Looking at purchasing one to use as an outdoor office. How heavy? Does it pull down on the awning?Panels against the RV wall? How does it keep the bugs out?Any floors with these things? We will likely use it under t...
Hello, my wife and I recently bought a class C 30' - 1991 Ford Cobra. It is in very good condition, low mileage and well taken care of. When we took it for a test drive the guy we bought it from climbed up on the roof and took the AC cover off so it did not blow off going down the road. When we came back from the t...
Because we already have an established Forum here, we did not create a separate one on RVillage. So, since our RVillage RV-Dreams Community group forum button links back here, I thought it might be wise to create a special section for those that are both RV-Dreams Community Forum members and RVilla...
O.K., oh wise ones, we are ramping up to hit the road (albeit slowly!) and are curious about which hard copy map(s) you would recommend. I did a search herein, but the information was all fairly old. My husband is looking for an Atlas-type book that shows most, if not all (?), of the roads across the U....
Hello Everyone, Ok, I will be 62 in May and am jumping ship. I just bought a 30ft HYLINE TT that I will park in my sister's backyard for the summer months in Ohio. My questions are: Is it ok to park the TT on the grass or should I put something under the tires? There are no jacks with this TT, will any sort of j...
As my daughter told me today, "it never rains, it pours, and I think you live in a rainforest!" House is officially listed now, with the open house on Sunday (in 3 days). Still lots of last minute things to do to prepare for it. One was replacing almost all the outlets (not outlet covers) in t...
We are busy with our travel trailer. Kids are grown but we are still full timing it behind the work desks. Long weekends are what we do best...even short weekends as long as I don't have to see the mess in the house. We live in the Panhandle of Florida and we are looking for ideas for those long weekends....
Jo and I are researching job and living possibilities for the area of Colorado Springs and Denver. While we've checked out Colorado Springs really well, we've not been to Denver yet to check things out there. We are wanting a nice RV park that would be open to allow folks to live year-round. One job th...
I have a Brother laser printer, b&w, that weighs 15#. Is there a better model for use in an RV, size-wise/weight? The Brother measures abt 14 x 13-1/2 x 7. It has been great for printing out b&w pages really fast, but was cheap enough new that I would buy another that is low priced, more compac...
This morning as I was clothes shopping in Corpus Christi the ladies in there asked me if we were part of the group of rv folks who got hired to work on some oil ships. I had never heard of that so questioned them closely, they said last week two women came in to shop for their new jobs as admin assistants on a sh...
Looking to full time for a couple of years and was originally looking at a 30 ft fifth wheel. Was thinking 30 ft. For maneuverability and less weight and easier to tow. Would a 35 ft fifth wheel be that much more cumbersome and difficult to handle than a 30 ft? We are just starting in the rv world . Any he...
I was hoping someone could help me out with some insight.I was hoping you could point me in the right direction or point me to someone that you think can. I have a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT Spyder Convertible that I am looking at towing behind my Class A RV.The way it looks there is no way to flat tow it no o...
I'm a researcher . . .. especially before selling everything and taking the plunge. Our tentative plan is to sell our house and stuff, pay outright for a rig and live off a $50K pension. Our ball park financial situation will be debt free (except for all the normal expenses) and coming out of selling ou...
First, I apologize ahead of time if it seems I am just whining. LOL I'm just stressing over this part. My biggest concern/issue with heading out to FT is my job. I need to work full time to pay my bills at least for another 4-5 years before I can be debt free and move around. However, I am in no mood to sit thro...
As many of you know, we replace this unit every 2 years (about). Since this coach was built in April 2012 it is time to start the next build. BUT, this one has to be sold FIRST. I probably should have made this my first post but I jumper right in to buying an RV. After mulling about retirement prospects for several years, my wife (Maribeth) and I have decided that I will retire at the beginning of June, 2017 when I will be 59 and a half. We are lifelong campers who have spent rea...
As part of the FT plan, I have been getting some medical tests that I have been putting off for you while I still have the good insurance. One of those tests led to a minor surgery...it only took one hour but the bill came back at $6K. I am mentioning this because the insurance company negotiated the cost...
