Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Airconditioner cover

Hello, my wife and I recently bought a class C  30' - 1991 Ford Cobra.  It is in very good condition, low mileage and well taken care of.  When we took it for a test drive the guy we bought it from climbed up on the roof and took the AC cover off so it did not blow off going down the road. When we came back from the test drive we covered it again. Then of course when we purchased it and drove it home we had to go through the same process. I assumed it was to cover it for storeage but the owner said everytime it rains you need to put the cover on it or a blowing rain will cause it to leak water in.  Something doesn't seem right about that. So if we are vacationing, and it rains on a hot summer day it sounds like we need to cover the AC and not run it? Is this acurate information or is there a problem with the AC unit. Thanks!  Steve and Gail

I'm a bit confused?  Is it the actual AC cover that came with the RV or is it some kind of homemade thing?  If it is the actual AC cover, then you should not have to remove it when you travel or any other time unless you have to do maintenance on the AC.

Is it a vinyl cover your talking about or the hard plastic one? If its a soft vinyl one, the previous owner had it to keep the sun from deteriorating the plastic shroud on th AC. No real reason to have it the soft cover if your moving alot.

When we became snowbirds last summer we bought AC covers and put them on to keep wasps and dirt daubers from building nests inside them.
Also put screens on the water heater and furnace. We took them off when we headed south in November.
