Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hopefully we will start our FT journey this October. I cant decide where to hang out this winter. I think we will claim Texas as our domicile, but I'm not sure we want to spend the winter there, maybe too cold. After living in the Midwest all my life, I'm looking forward to some warmth now Anyone want...
My wife and I are looking to purchase a 5th wheel/have one built. Does anyone have any knowledge about a company called North American RVs and Cargo Trailers or the quality of their product? Their website is: rvsandcargotrailers.com Thanks, Joe and Lindy
I know this has been addressed before, but the search didn't really help for this situation. Symptoms - The smell is coming from the area above where the tanks are located -- not only from the bathroom - It seems to be the most pronounced when we open the windows, or put the fantastic fan on - The smell is re...
As we plan for our FT life, I've been thinking about the idea of breaking camp every few days. With all the checklists, setting up, tearing down, do's and don'ts, work, etc., etc. etc., it seems that it can get very tiring and almost exhausting after a while. I supect the anwser is simple - just sta...
Wifey and I are driving ourselves a little nuts, trying to nail down one TT for our planned one year journey around the US. We have decided a 30-32' rear living trailer suits our needs, and are stuck between a Jayco 318RETS, and Arctic Fox 32A. The Jayco has the potentially regrettable Lippert frame, bu...
I've been trying to contact him for a few weeks and he has not been answering his emails or private messages -- very much unlike him. I don't see any recent posts from him either. Has anyone here heard from him? I'm very worried.
Any recommendations for BLM or boondocking areas on the AZ / NM border or in the Las Cruces area as we head back into Texas? Only looking for a day or two.
Let me apologize right now for such a newbie question. Hahaha So, what items are normally a chassis (Freightliner) issue or engine (Cummins) issues? I think the engine issues should be pretty obvious. Are there any issues that are pretty common that we should be aware of?
Ok I'm sure this subject has been talked about many time over, but just what type of T.P. do you us, and mainly are there any non rv types that work just as good. Thanks
I'm thinking of installing a tire monitor system, anyone have any experience with the screw on cap type of sensors . They are much cheaper than the internally mounted sensors. Don't know if they would perform well. thanks for your replies. -- Edited by Cowdog353 on Wednesday 28th of January 2015 12:2...
We're looking to go fulltime in a couple of years and get a 5th wheel suitable for fulltiming such as a DRV or New Horizons. Looking to buy a Ram 5500 Chassis Cab and have a Hauler Body installed. Is it better/easier to buy the truck 1st and then look for an upfitter or just have the upfitter take care of the w...
I had always heard that 6" of clearance was enough for a fifthwheel but I proved that wrong. We have pulled our camper to places were I use 4-wheel drive and crawl over rocks at idle speeds and never hit. I was backing into a site in a national forest campground. The site was lower than the roadway. My...
It's been awhile (last summer!) since I introduced myself and posted a couple times. Since then, the house sold (quickly) and, after taking care of family matters, we've been short-term-renting. RV research was temporarily suspended, but now, we're back at it with gusto! I've continued to lur...
I'm storing my fifth wheel right now and will be for the next few months. I forgot to turn off the main 12V switch so my 2 Trojan T-105 batteries are now totally dead. Is it bad for the batteries to remain dead for a few months in warm weather or should I charge them up and turn off the 12V switch leaving them ch...
My wife and I are about 2 years from retirement(we plan to fulltime) and have been going to RV shows and dealers for the last year or so. All of the rigs we have looked at look great however we are trying to understand what some must haves would be in purchasing a 5th wheel for full time living. I would like t...
Trade 2006 32' Newmar Scottsdale model 3201 with 2 slides and 24,700 miles, Ford V-10, 5spd Auto, New tires w/less than 5,000 miles.-- Looking for a 40' + unit, bus type entry, DP of approx. same value. NADA is a little over $80,000. PM me if you have something that might work. Thank-You -- Edite...
Unbelievable, right?! At 131pm on a sunny day from the parking lot at the HEB grocery in Boerne Texas. Security camera shows a gold sedan circling the lot when it pulled up to my 2001 F350 crew 4x4 dually--with the 7.3 engine with 69,750 original miles on her---he used a screw driver to break in, and bent...
So, we're here at one of the HUGE RV parks in the Phoenix area for a month. It was actually a well thought out plan, or so we reasoned before we got here. We're flying out for a cruise vacation, made sense to find a location where we could park for a month, have our pet sitter come in and take care of the cat, h...
Everyone make sure your fire extinguishers are readily available and be careful using portable heaters. A fifth wheel burned to the ground in a matter of minutes in our park Sunday. Thankfully nobody was inside. We still don't know the cause. Dave
Hi Has any one know about the, Bock Home In Indiana Rally in the month of July for NEXUS Campers?I have a 2012 Phantom 31p class c and wood like to make the camp out . Jrush31p
We have a 2008 5th wheel. About 3 weeks ago, the hot water heater showed a red reset light. I went outside, fiddled with everything I could fine, and all looked good. I don't have an electronic meter to measure current. After fiddling with it, nothing worked. 2 days later, I decided to turn the switch ins...
AI currently have a 38' fifth wheel. I am interested in hearing from those of you who have had both fifth wheels and Class A's as to which you prefer and why? Whatever I get next I want to have auto leveling. I am also having to attend a rally soon in the boondocking area due to lack of FHUs. It just seems l...
We seem to be at a stalemate. We just can't make up our minds on an estate sale or garage sales. We have an 1800 sq/ft home with just your usual assortment of "things" accumulated over the years. I'm sure DH has a LOT more tools than the average guy, but other than that, nothing special, i.e....
Hello. Does anyone have any good thoughts and insight on a 2003 Teton Laramie Experience vs. a 2002 Excel Limited? Let's assume for now they are about equal in condition and care? I know that Teton no longer has an existing business behind it. That is a plus for the Excel but not a deal breaker for us....
I know a lot of banks offer the ability to take a picture of checks to deposit them, but what if you are on the road and want to deposit cash into your bank and there isn't a branch nearby? How do you go about doing that? Money Order? Western Union? Wire Transfer? Anyone have experience with that? Thank...
Just bought this 1996 Fifth wheel in May. The Dometic 15K ducted ceiling unit gave up it started by a buzzing sound when first turned on in the Low fan mode; would come on Ok in High fan mode. Then it would do it in both modes. Cleaned the condenser and the evaporator of debris. Then it seemed to work good unt...
