Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

I would like to track the states we visit when we begin our FT adventure in January. I've read about a brass map that has a hole in each state outline to be filled with a "jewel". Does anyone know where I might find one? I've searched the internet and only found other folks looking for the s...
Monday night I ended up in an emergency room and had hernia surgery the next day. I was discharged today and am not much help in the motorhome. Inconvenient, expensive, disruptive and painful, but we will be OK, since Diane can do all of the setup, tear down and driving if needed. A few years ago Dian...
Well we just about done with all of our work to become Texans and so far the process has been rather smooth. Starting with setting up our mail service, that took all of 10 minutes at Escapees Rainbow Park in Livingston. Our next step was securing insurance in Texas for our 4 vehicles. That was a little mor...
I bought a 2008 coachman blast 170 (17 ft) and took the wheels off my 8 1/2 x 16 Homesteader Hercules enclosed trailer and put on it. Should these be okay for the toyhauler? Thanks for your help!!
Heritage Landing on the Deschutes River at the confluence with the Columbia River is looking for a host in April & May. Heritage Landing is on the west side of the river across from Deschutes State Park If you are interested please contact Deschutes State Park at 541-739-2322. If you would lik...
Had to share this park. Spring Creek Park (county park) in Tomball, TX just outside Houston is a hidden gem! Only 8 RV sites on concrete (large back in RV sites) with grass in between. FHU, 50amp, showers, bathrooms lots of lawn park like setting with trees about and some sites with a little shade. H...
I am a wanna be that is getting closer to my dream everyday. I am fixing to go to school online for medical coding and billing. My question for the group is... how hard is it to get internet conections while traveling. And what other job careers are there for a person that wants to travel. Any input would be...
It’s ironic, our decision to first down size in 2011 that led to a decision to full time RV in early 2012 was driven primarily by Dale’s art show business and our desire to have more time for life vs. work has led to a new decision, slowing down that art show business. Why?We’ve found that living FT in ou...
Hi everyone. Looking forward to learn a lot from the folks here about moving to a full time RV'er life style. Wife and I have made the decision it is what we want to do as soon as I am able to retire(3 years). Want to enjoy all this country has to offer while young and healthy enough to do it!
Hi all, Two years ago we purchased a pair of rotochoks to stop the movement of the trailer when parked. They worked like a charm and we were very happy with them. Until ... the distance between the tires has changed recently (due to some work on the frame and the suspension). The choks are too big now. They...
Hi There: Jay and Jazz here we are a couple pushing 40 and the summer of 2013 we decided to get off the ground and we went out and found our Lady T. She is a 28' 20 year old Tioga Class C. We have loved every inch of the 10,000+ miles that we have put on her in the last year and a half taking her across the country an...
We're getting ready to do roof maintenance on our 5th wheel, cleaning, checking seals, and UV protection. What are the best products to use, and what should we avoid? Any other tips are also appreciated. Thank you.
In 2013 we purchased full timer coverage with the Thum Agency as recommended here iirc. Folks there were super helpful and friendly on the phone and I asked a ton of questions in an attempt to get the very best coverage available. Last month my truck was stolen while grocery shopping and as it turns out...
I have been working from the rig since we went FT in November 2014 and thus far our trips have been 6 weeks in a spot then a little hop and 10 weeks in a spot. Now we are entering the phase where we will be moving every 10 days or so and I wanted to pass along some of the challenges I am facing. I know I've touched...
I started laughing when my Mom asked me this question. We were talking about some of our adventures, activities, etc. on the road, just a normal conversation bringing her up to date and she just had to ask if we were associating with any friends my age or if all my new friends were now retired?? OK, so so...
Over the past year or so I've changed my mind many times about which type of RV would best suit my purposes, and have decided to go as small as I can possibly go while maintaining most of the creature comforts that I know I wouldn't like to do without. Along those lines, I've pretty much settled on ordering...
Just an FYI to all our Forum members. Last month, Kidde Fire Extinguishers, in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, recalled 4. 6 million fire extinguishers. Apparently the fire extinguishers have a faulty plastic valve that can fail when the extinguisher is used in an emer...
So, can someone please explain to me and my feeble mind the physics behind a tire? My question really deals with the tire pressure. I've been reading the posts about proper pressure related to weight of the rig, but to me 100/110 lbs etc. = more explosive blowout. True/not true? Given that, what's...
Hi Howard and Linda, Just a quick note to thank you for doing all the leg work, regarding buying insurance for rig and truck. And, I didn't have to buy a case of Blue Moon to keep from going crazy! Regards, Lauren Oliver
Greetings All- We are new to this forum and will be leaving for a full time, homeschool, mission trip adventure! We are currently trying to sell our Winnebago class C for a 5th wheel. My wife and I are going to be purchasing a 5th wheel for extended trips and eventual full time. We have 4 kids all under 5 (...
Hello all. I'm starting this topic here, but it originated in the Campground Discount Programs & Memberships section. Here's part of the thread from that section. "Personally, our family is still looking for a good RV to full time in. We normally do our own repairs, So what I take from...
For those interested in such things I found this article by Stewart Sweet rather interesting and indicative of the work the boys and girls in the backroom do to keep stuff working as best as possible when the equipment is 22,500 miles away.Having been in the TV biz I appreciate how this planning paid o...
I'm an Amazon shopping junkie. How does everyone deal with ordering online or receiving packages from family? We buy everything online, dog food, clothes, etc....Will this have to stop?
John and I are shopping for a fifth wheel to full-time in. We intend to stay half the time in state parks and federal campgrounds. John is concerned that if we go above a 35' length we are going to greatly reduce our options as far as where we can stay. Need opinions from RVers who do a lot of this type of ca...
i know this is a delicate subject . But do you guys clean your commodes with sno Bol type cleaners and the usual toilet brushes? Sorting out what to take from the house to the fifth wheel and wondered, do I need my toilet brush, my snobol, or is that too harsh for plumbing, etc?
