Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I would love to head up rt 11, as it parallels 81 for so long, but am afraid I will encounter some steep grades, which I'd rather avoid while hauling. Or to be safe is it wisest to head due east on 10 and head north after I pass the tail end of the Appalachians, and btw where is that exactly?!! tia, and happy tr...
We are working hard to find outside the box solutions to getting on the road sooner, and an interesting idea has come up in our discussions. So let me run it by our esteemed "RVeterans" (trademark)... We have decided that 2019 will almost certainly be our FTing kick off date, but an opportu...
Time to get my act together! Getting the hitch itch again! Doing some better. The angina seems to only bother when I am at rest or sometimes when I get a bit to active. I have seen some improvements in the past 35 months. Not ready for marathons, but seem to have more energy now. I will be getting an air condi...
I remember reading a post about this before we became f/t, but I can't seem to find it. Not only can't I remember where I've been last, but I don't know what day of the week it is, what season I'm in or what state I'm in (besides the state of confusion!) I haven't decided if this is a good or bad thing, but I gue...
Do not set your brakes while on the scale. This might seem like common sense to some but it deserves mentioning. We have a driver who never could get satisfactory weights on his truck even though he was hauling the same loads the rest of us were. During a conversation today it dawned on me that he was setti...
Getting closer to departure. Have decided on a 2005 or 2006 Vectra/Horizon 36RD or, second choice, Journey/Meridian 36G. Will be full timing. Starting out in AZ and heading to Tri-Cities, WA to take care of Wife's parents, then explore the NW (once it warms up a bit!). Still have much to do; sell home,...
Hi All, we are hoping to be on the road by June 1 full timing. Our plans were to be in Florida next January. I have tried to find state parks in the Keys, but they are already booked up. My question is when do you find you need to make reservations? Obviously, I now know that Florida Jan-Mar requires reservat...
I am looking for a new recliner for myself. I have narrowed it down to a Lazy Boy Pinnacle in leather or a Palliser (online from sofas§ionsals.com ). The Pallisers are made in Canada and the chairs measurements are the same as the Pinnale. I can get the Palliser wallhugger with power recl...
Well...it looks like I'll finally be getting my first RV next week. It's a 92 Fleetwood Tioga 24ft. (Photos) It's not new and not perfect but it will be a fun way to get into RVing while also providing a "project" for my son and I to work on together. Plus, I'm not spending a small fortune on it ei...
John and Joanne Clements from the land of taxes, New York State. We are not fulltimers and probably never will be. We are both retired and winter in Arizona and travel as much as we can in the summer. With three grandchildren ages 19, 21 and 23 we like to spend the summers near them. Found out about the site...
Was let go from a job in Oct... My benefits were covered to the end of that month. Got severance pay and only collected unemployment for a week. Started new job the middle of Nov. and thankfully only had to wait a full 30 days to start new benefits, That put me to the 1st of Jan. Have worked my whole life and on...
We are new here. We just registered for the Fall Educational Rally in Michigan. We hope to learn a lot before buying an RV. We are planning on leaving Chicago and full-timing before the end of 2016. Hello everyone!
Was looking for some input from some that have had good experiences at places to go in; Manitoba Saskatchewan Alberta British Columbia This summer we would like to scout around up here a bit on long weekends, etc. Seeing as to how our dollar is worth around .80 cents U.S. we could probably just see more a...
Hello, I recently purchased a '84 Cross Country and I am living in it full-time at family owned property. We are off-the-grid so just plugging in is not an option. I have a couple of questions and am hoping someone could help me out! 1) the cables to the RV battery are cut. So we need to wire them and than con...
We are about realize the full-time dream after two years of planning/prep. I have studied the excellent books and information provided in this forum and am grateful for your shared experiences. Based on the latest discussions, we will initially invest in hardware to pull in cell service based data...
One of my slides is very squeaky when closing it. I imagine this means it needs lubrication. Agreed? If so, what kind should be used -- will WD40 or Bull Shot be ok or is there something special needed?

Hello Forum, We are Ben and Rebecca, citizens of the world but our home base is in Alaska. In 2011, we bought a 1999 32' Allegro to save money on hotel rooms when we travel for business. RV'ing quickly became a passion! Working from home/RV allows us to spend most of the short Alaskan Summer RV'ing aro...
Greetings all. I know it isn't ideal, but I wanted to ask your thoughts regarding doubling DC power cables to increase the ampacity. This would only be used for my battery jumpers. I currently run 2/0 ga for all my battery runs but am upgrading from 2 x 6V to 4 x 6V. Seeing as how I already have some from anot...
We have a 2012 Evergreen TT. The outside is fiberglass. It has some scratches on the surfaces. Don't know how they got there, but was wondering can they be buffed out? I would not do it, I would have someone that is experienced with this. Also after buffing, what would you all suggest that the final coat...
Hi All, we will be attending the Spring rally in Sevierville, TN and on the Monday after will be heading south to visit friends in Beverly Hills, FL. I read on another post that some of the roads going to NC are twisting and narrow. Would any of you Eastern travelers have advice for this Midwest flatlan...
Another Redwood owner on the Redwood forum sent me a note that they thought a picture of our Redwood was posted on the Redwood Home Page. Sure enough, it is our Redwood in the picture take at Stone Mountain GA State Park http://www.redwood-rv.com/
We are selling our 1998 American Tradition. We purchased it from the dealer Go Play RV in Flint Texas on a recommendation from a friend that knew of the coach. We have taken back to them to sell on our behalf. The prior owner is an airline mechanic and the coach has an excellent maintenance history. All o...
We just attended our first Diesel RV Club Rally in Desert Hot Springs CA. I highly recommend the club and their rallies. As a woman when someone spoke "diesel" to me it was a foreign language. But after 3 days of technical sessions I no longer have the "deer in the headlight look"...
On the bsck of our RV where the fiberglass end cap attaches there is about a 1/2 gap where the roof is lower and the cap is, we have about 4 inches where they do not meet up on either side, so what is recommended for a large gap fill out in the elements?
Hey All: We have a 94 Tioga that we love, but the fridge seems to lose it's cool so to speak when we are driving or when the weather is warm. It's cools down nice overnight and gets real cold but it just seems to warm up too much during the day or when driving. Is there anything we can do to test this or get it work...
