Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We just finished our first week workamping at the Winthrop National Fish Hatchery. The staff at the hatchery are so welcoming and very appreciative all we do, never knew there was so much to raising fish. We will be here until the end of September, lots to see and do in this area and a great place to spe...
We have the Rand McNally RVND 7710 with lifetime maps. We are thinking about adding the GPS Real time receiver unit to it. It is not very expensive and just wantEd to know if anyone had any experience with it. Any input would be helpful.
We are on our first real shake down cruise since buying our motorhome and couldn't have done it without the advice and support found on RV Dreams. Sooooo much to learn when starting this lifestyle. Even though we have owned a few TT for vacationing in the past, this is a whole new level. We have been rese...
We are planning to start full-timing early next Spring (2016). It will be me, my husband (we are in our late 20's) and our 2 dogs (one 20 lbs, one 75 lbs). Our dogs are older and very will behaved. We are set on a used fifth-wheel to haul with our Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel Dually. We have researched tons and read m...
We have a fiberglass Air Dam/Wing for sale. It mounts in the front stake pockets of a pickup truck. Adjustable for all makes and models. Currently painted Dodge Patriot Blue, but can be sanded and painted other colors by any paint. We are currently at the RV-Dreams rally in site 200 at River Plantat...
2 weeks after our truck broke down 10 miles west of Laughlin NV, the new engine is on order, everything should be covered by warranty for which we are extremely thankful. However, we're also facing the realization that we're likely to be here another 1-2 weeks and it's getting uncomfortably warm. We...
I've been a member here for almost two years, and in that time my intrepid dh and I sold our little farm and moved into our first camper full time. We were lucky enough to find an 03 carriage cameo in fine condition, and after some interior remodeling it's extremely comfortable for full time living. We...
I just spent the night here and I can highly recommend it to everyone except the hermits. Just 4 miles off the Trace on a good road. No actual screening between the sites but they are very well spaced and most of them are right near the water. Many will take almost any size rig combo and the one pull thru site...
My husband and I are new to RVing and are on the hunt for a fifth wheel for snow-birding next winter. We've been doing some research and have looked at many fifth wheels. This process is really overwhelming and we don't know what we don't know. My question is how do we narrow down our choices? We've see...
We are buying a used DRV Mobile Suites and the previous owners did travel with a dog. I was reading a book on FT RVing last night and it mentioned completing a full flea treatment in an RV before moving the pets into the RV. The author indicated the need to use a product that kills the fleas, larve and eggs....
When we were out of the country for a month back in October 2011, Terry and Gene graciously volunteered to keep an eye on the Forum and moderate it while we were gone. It was supposed to be a temporary thing, but they were still doing it three and a half years later. Moderating a forum is a pretty thankle...
Just wanted to introduce myself - my husband and I will be hitting the road in October to go full timing. We've spent the past year preparing and getting ready for our new adventure - and we are soooo excited. We have our Fiver picked out - will probably purchase it by June or July - first stop - Colorado -...
I am staying a month east of Minneapolis for my daughters wedding (very excited about that) and am looking for a campground or campgrounds east of the city that are far enough out for some nature but close enough that traveling back and forth for wedding stuff is not a chore. Anyone have any experience...
i posted on here about six months ago, about our new blog. We have almost completed our round trip from Ontario, Canada to Southern California, and we are presently in Florida on our way home. There are many posts, with pictures, about our travels, and some RV-related technical stuff too. Please take...
Anyone have contacts on good deal/prices on 6 volt deep cycle batteries up in Canada? Thinking of AGM or Gell Cell of some brand. With our dollar at around .80 cents U.S. I'd like to find a good supplier up here.
Today reminded me of why we normally don't visit our daughter in Dallas this time of year. We're sitting in the RV having just ridden out a squall line with ½ in hail and 40+ mph wind with water flowing up to the bottom step on the motorhome. Came down fast and furious. And we are 'boon docking' as the pow...
DH and I have had a blog for 4 years describing start up and our adventures throughout the USA. What a ball! Now we are Connecticut bound until we get another smaller rig. Anyone know of a used class B? And our class A 2009 Monoco Monarch SFS is up for sale. Look in the classified section if interest...
Just wondering how you keep critters from building nests inside the open slides. We have noticed in the last week they have started building nests. We are going to be in one place for the next six weeks so we want to discourage this.
We have been hunting for our new home. It started out being fun, now it's quite a drama. We are limited to RV dealers in our area. They carry a handful of manufacturers and models. Every time we find one from researching online we're finding that the dealerships carry that manufacturer but not that...
First of all, the youngest son has healed up, so Jo is back at home with me in Colorado. She sure is enjoying getting back to sleeping on the Select Comfort mattress, and I'm sure enjoying not having to fend for myself with regards to meals. As many of you know, I can't cook. I started my workkamping job...
We just started our first work camping job at Monck Provincial Park in BC. We raked 21 sites yesterday full of Ponderosa Pine needles with another couple. Boy are we sore after not working for almost 5 years. If you're in the area stop by, it's a beautiful park on Nicola Lake just outside of Merritt, BC. h...
My name is Dianne and I will be traveling with my 13 year old Yorkie named Gypsy. My fondest desire was to have a motorhome and see this great country. That dream just came true! I purchased a 2015 Thor Axis 24.1 and I LOVE it!!! On October 6th 2013 my world stopped when my husband of 48 years, Jerry passe...

We heard a strange noise - kind of like a cross between someone dry-heaving and coughing. Upon closer investigation, we discovered the sound was coming from our generator -- an Onan 5500 and the sound was more like it was trying to start but not succeeding. We are on electric and not using the genny at...

We normally go to Minnesota for Walleye fishing, but we were looking for something not so far north. Can anyone recommend a RV Park on a nice lake with good fishing and boat rentals?
