Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello, I'm here to gather info on potentially becoming a full-timer for a while. My wife and I have been tossing the idea around for about a year now. She's retired AF and I'm a disabled vet. We have been living on a farm for the past 5 years and ready for something new.
Has anyone stayed there? It's in Lorton, VA. Seems nice from the website, but it's hard to tell what it would be like for a newbie to maneuver a 40' fifth wheel. Camp office said no problem, but it sounded like a very young girl who really didn't know otherwise.
Well it has been six months since we started FT and we are loving it. Left Pahrump, Nevada April 16th and headed to Sioux Falls for drivers license, then to Delaware for Doctors appointments. We arrived back in North Carolina on May 3rd. Our site here is only five minutes from the Spring reunion and we ho...
Hi Everyone! I just finished participating in my first RV Dreams Rally and it was AWESOME! The educational Rally in Sevierville, TN brought together so many wonderful folks and I learned more than my brain has had time to comprehend. I'm Desmond. I am solo and do not have an RV at this time, but am very mu...
As a corollary to these bad roads, let's assume you have to travel them. Now every rig is different but is there a "sweet spot" in terms of speed to minimize the earthquake. Anybody want to comment on the difference between traditional 5er suspensions and some of the upfits like Mor/Ryde I...
In all our planning, dreaming, and finally getting on the road, we never really considered the impact our FT life would have on holidays and our ability to enjoy all of them out of doors. Yes, we still work, yes I still have a M-F job that ties me to my desk, but it's a job I like, I'm a few years from retireme...
Any techies want to chime in on Elon Musk's new PowerWall. Here's some specs, obviously it won't fit into some existing battery compartments, but that is not an insurmountable obstacle. No word on the weight of the battery. I don't know how that would all convert to amp-hours for RV use. Energy: 7kW...
Hello from sunny San Diego!I am currently an active duty Marine stationed in the San Diego area. My wife and I are very interested in full time RV living after retirement. I don't know much about how this works, what kind of money is required, etc.. Hopefully, connecting with some experienced folks on...
I just went to look at the chances of getting on the waiting list for the Spring Rally. All 60 spaces "sold out" and 60 people on the waiting list. The waiting list is even closed 4 months before the Rally. WOW With that kind of interest will there ever be more than the current number of Ralli...
Over the past year I have blown about 5 fuses on our fridge. They are the small glass 5 amp fuses located behind the panel outside the rig. I replace the fuse and it will last anywhere from a day to a couple of weeks but in the end it blows. It works fine on LP so at least I have a working fridge. Any ideas of what...
Hello to All, We are in the process of working our way to full timing in 2016 and trying to travel a little now as we start are downsizing process. We are on the road now (April 14th) and working our way to the 2015 Rally in Sevierville. We have started a blog and are newbies at that too, but we are giving it a...
In the recent Escapees magazine there was an inset about Fresh Cab for repelling rodents. Since we'll be storing our Outback in my son's barn in Tucson for several months and because rats recently ate $3200 of wiring in his wife's Sierra we were looking for something to protect our auto. Has anyone eve...
Got the truck back last night, new engine totally covered by the Ford Warranty Drove it around a bit, up and down a few good grades and were relieved when everything worked as expected. Left our campground very, very early this morning and drove for a couple of hours before we stopped at a rest stop so I c...

Yesterday I went to put my jacks down so I turned my ignition on (without starting the engine) and turned on my toggle switch. The lights lit up so I went to lower my jacks but nothing happened. I noticed the LF (left forward) light was on so I tried to raise that jack but nothing happened. I was wondering if...
Hello to all fulltimers and those who dream about it! My name is Muriel and I am originally from Paris, France. Well I was born in the capital but was raised about 30 minutes south of it, in a small country village named Saint-Arnoult... I came to America in 1996 cause my husband was from Central Califor...
Hello everyone. It's been awhile since I have been on here. It's a busy busy time. We've got the house on the market. The rental property will be listed as soon as we can get over there to clean. We're working on the yard here as we have 7 acres. Winter and wind has left a mess that has to be cleaned up. I am for...
Has anyone heard anything about us not being able to register vehicles in Florida anymore? We use the St Brendens Islse mailing service and just heard today that they are getting audited because too many people are using that address to register vehicles to avoid paying taxes. Our friend was told the...
Really? Is there seriously any such thing? My husband and I looked at a couple of them, but by the time we did the calculations, we decided that they were NOT 1/2 ton towable. Maybe for a weekend trip - but not for full timing. Anyone else notice this? Opinions please :)
Does anyone have any input or have a membership to ultimatervcamping.com? It lists thousands of campsites at either 10.00/night or 1/2 off? I'm not familiar with it, and wondering if it's worth the price. Anyone have info please? Thanks a lot!!
Hi Everyone! I'm perusing forums and doing daily research. Full-time RVing has always been my retirement plan. For years I have attended RV shows. But, a few years back, my neighbors that homeschooled their kids bought an RV and took off for a year traveling the US. Those kids had the most amazing time...
Well, the winds in Arizona and Nevada have left us with a broken Flag Pole Buddy due to high winds and our Catherine's Wheel kite that loved the winds but it appears the Flag Pole Buddy is not strong enough for that combination. Any suggestions on a heavier duty flag pole?
just curious what everyone does with the covers that come new with RV's. I'm tempted to throw them away, but I thought I'd check and see what everyone else does. Thanks!
Wild Cherry Resort on Michigan's Leelanau Peninsula is looking for a work camping couple for this season, due to a cancellation. We are going to be there this summer along with another couple, and a third couple is needed to complete the team. If you are interested in spending your summer in an area t...
Well we finally made the deal on a 2015 Lifestyle 38RS, put the deposit down and go pick it up on May 5th. Our fulltime date isn't until Feb 2018 when I get my golden handshake but I wanted to buy earlier to get the bugs worked out before hitting the road fulltime. Super excited and can't wait to get out in it i...
Well, I was able to get into an awesome RV park last Wednesday! The staff is incredible! Very eager to help a newbee like myself! This being my first RVing experience, especially in a 23 year old Class C where issues are sure to arise I am sure glad to be in such a friendly place :) Some things I need to get rep...
