Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Good morning everyone, We have finally made the decision to take off this winter and begin the next part of of our lives. We are looking at RVs in earnest, and have decided on a couple of units we like. We will buy used. We have seen the unit we want in a different part of the country, but can take a quick fli...
I have a 2007 Dutch Star with what seems to be an age old problem. My largest slide-out collects water and sags everytime it rains. The smaller covers do fine. I have tried the Airwedge, which is an inflatible air bag that goes between the slide-out roof and cover. But it is too fat to push between the...
We may be traveling from Colorado Springs, CO to Eugene, OR. Does anyone have knowledge of the condition of US Route 20 in Oregon. Is this a good road? Google maps shows some very curvy sections of the highway. We will be pulling a travel trailer out and a 5th wheel back. Would like to know if this is a good r...
I am dreaming of fulltiming at retirement time in 4-6 yrs. I will be going Solo, and it scares my son and family! I will be spending the next few years, purging, simplifying, and educating myself by reading a bunch of sites like this! I am so glad to have found you! Are there any chapters of your group...
Hello everyone, My wife (Karen) and I have been looking at retiring in 3 years. We've been looking at the possibility of full time RV'ing for the last 3 months and have enjoyed what we've been reading. Have a lot of questions about RV'ing and are a little fearful of the though of selling everything an...

When we arrived in N. CA as we unloaded our bikes, anticipating a couple of good rides along the American River Trail we discovered Dale's tire was needing to be replaced. A little over 2 years on the road and the original tires that came with our bicycles were showing bad signs of wear. So, after a littl...

On return in the spring, we will take a southern route to the east coast and up to Ma again. 1 - My gross combined weight for my truck and 5er my be slightly above 26K pounds ? Should I be worried as I have only a clas...
How many of you carry an extra 50 amp extension cord and, if so, how often have you needed it? We have a 30' 50 amp extension that I want to leave in storage (won't be back through for six months) but the wife thinks we need to have along. The thing weighs 25# (feels like twice that) and I'm all about keeping th...
We are planning to try the full time RV life style next year. We have decided that we are going to buy now and have found a strong candidate rv that we want to purchase. Its a 2002 Fleetwood Pace Arrow 36A Gasser with $36k miles Our plan is to go with a gas RV for our first year and see how it goes. If we love it we...
Like Howard & Linda teaches at all their rallies, there is no 'right' way to RV full time. It is all up to the individual. We just completed our 2nd year on the road, and while I was updating our web page and blog with our yearly stats, I was wondering how our numbers compared with you all. Our Year Two nu...
I normally enjoy dramatic weather, but I suppose that's easy to do from the comfort of a stick and brick compared to an rv. on the farm we had the generator, 500 gallon diesel tank, a fresh water stream behind the house and a big woodlot, so power outages or high winds or deep snow didn't really bother us b...
I am living alone in my good old 1978 Holiday Ramblette travel trailer here in Interior Alaska [Fairbanks]... I am going to start soon to winterize the best I can to face our long dark Arctic winter and I would love to get any advices from those of you living the same way here in Alaska or elsewhere... If on...
I have not been able to find info on towing a 2006 Automatic Diesel Jetta, I'm assuming I will need a dolly but would prefer to tow wheels down if possible. Thanks for any responses.
We currently have a 2011 f250 super duty 6.7 diesel powerstroke 4x4 crew cab srws. thinking of buying a 5th wheel sometime next year. Lets just say im gonna tow a 16k 5th wheel with it. Main purpose is to park it at a campsite maybe do a trip a short 5 hr trip twice a year. So not much road traveling at all. iSo...
Hi Rich and I both lived the RV life as singles for a while. Now we're together with a Class A. We're planning on leaving our place in Louisville and spending Nov-March RVing in Florida. Neither of us like the cold weather anymore. Yep.....a little scary! We've had this RV about 4 months and we're still l...
My wife and I have been contemplating selling the house and buying our RV prior to my wife quitting her job and spending the last year living in the RV. We will be buying a 4 seasons unit according to the manufacturer. (Grand Design 366DEN) It gets pretty cold up in our area. It can get down to -10 F but not c...
We are a retired AF family of four getting ready to hit the road full time. We have been purging all summer and now we are just waiting for the house to sell. I have been reading, researching and purging diligently while the Chief has been getting the house/yard/cars in shape to sell. We have gleaned s...
When we downsized to move from a 2250 square foot home on 3/4 of an acre, there was so much that we either sold or gave away. One of the hardest things for me to give up were the 60-some original oil paintings that my mother had painted. (We did keep a few smaller ones, and those hang on our RV walls.) Howev...
Hi to all! We are the Stich's, Teri and Paul. We are several years out yet from living the dream but are starting to take the steps to make it happen. I have followed the RV-Dreams Blog off and on for several years and what an inspiration it has been. Right now our biggest holdbacks are of a financial nature...
Hello everyone. We are Casey and Julie from Austin, Texas, and we are pleased to announce that we have begun the transition to full-time RV’ing. I (Julie) have followed Howard and Linda since they went on the road and have been begging, pleading talking to Casey about the idea of full-time RV’ing. We’...
We are looking into buying a 5th wheel. Looking at floor plans we found the one that we are looking for. The solitude375RE by Grand Design. The livingroom is the main attraction. 2 fold out couches and theater seats. Being in the back the ceiling and slides are taller which is another feature we prefer....
J and Bean here. We have decided to join the glamping club. We thought it would be a good idea to join a forum and meet fellow glampers. We have our sights on a 5th wheel that feels just right for us. Looks like this is a great place to get all the ins and outs.
Does anyone have a PM Maintenance checklist for a class A gas RV that they can share. I want to set up routine preventative schedule to do maintenance on all areas of the rv.
Hey guys Hubby just got a job offer at Randolph in TX, it's not a definite just yet, we should hear in the next couple weeks. We will need a long term site for a big rig, hopefully with shade for the Summer. Has anyone stayed in a CG in this area that they can recommend? We can't stay at the base Fam-camp as t...
Dang, we have now gone through 3 Rhino sewer hoses in 3 years. And they are supposed to be the best r at least one of the best on the market. Maybe moving every weeks just gives them to much of a workout.
I know there are several of you that are TT members. We stayed at Tall Chief last summer and it appears next spring / summer / fall we're likely to be in and out of that park multiple times due to my work situation. The park is an Encore park but had a TT sign and several of you have mentioned it being a TT par...
This has been a fun (but agonizing!) process and we've narrowed our first RV purchase choices down to two: a 2016 Thor Hurricane 31S or a 36' diesel 2005 Winnebago Journey. As much as I like the Hurricane, some forums I've found claim Thor to be very poor quality, many saying their new MH spent way too mu...
