Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello. Newbie here. Been doing lots of research on MH and fivers as we plan on going full time asap (well, when the house sells).
Weve found a 2011 and a 2012 DRV mobile suite that we think are strong contenders. My question is regarding known issues wi these model years. I've read there were issues w the slides in some model years. Is there anything I should be concerned with Or watch for?
You might want to check the DRV Suites forum for this question. I haven't heard of many slide issues. We have a 2010 DRV suites and have had repeated problems with the RV fridge and have recently had a problem with a failed sealed bearing.
I'd say to try to avoid the 2012. I think that is the first year for the Shwintek electric bedroom slides. I also think the 2013 models also had the Shwintek slides. If you are looking at used DRV fifth wheels, you might check out Rolling Retreats in Elk City, Oklahoma. They are a mom and pop dealership that really understand customer service. Check out their pre-owned units. Alicia and Slade are good people and have a good reputation. I think they even still will deliver almost anywhere in the U.S.
Ruth's comment about the RV fridge is also something to consider. We had issues with our 2010 as well and modified our Mobile Suites for a residential refrigerator. Our RV fridge only lasted 2 years of us full-timing.
