Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Our full-time date is rapidly approaching and after shopping around for a year, we are strongly leaning toward Nexus RV (most likely their Class A DP). We are very impressed with just about every aspect of their operation and have looked for feedback, reviews and/or owners groups. Although there...
We are actively looking to purchase a learner 5-er within the next few days and we have narrowed it to 4 choices. We would be learning all about rv-ing by vacationing and taking a couple short term trips across the country before trading it for a new, DRV or Luxe in 3-5 years. I'm hoping to get some expert...
The shade for our large window in the 5th wheel is stuck halfway up/down. The strings are all ok, but the shade itself seems to have slipped and is bunched up on the left hand side. I've searched the forum and internet and have not found anyone with this problem. Any suggestions? We head out west in a m...
Hey guys! We have landed on site for our winter home! We're managing the park until April. If you're looking for an inexpensive option for the season or even a month or two come see us! We have quite a few 30 Amp sites left and even a couple of 50 Amp at the moment! Nice, quiet, little park about 5 miles from t...
Bill did a lot of work on this post with me, explaining in detail how he did the maintenance on our running gear and replaced our stretched out shackes - I'm posting it in hopes it will help some others who own 5th wheels [url=http://bkamericanodyssey.com/2016/09/10/getting-ready-to-go-the-rep...
Hello, our cat was stolen while at a KOA. She was stolen before hurricane Matthew (we live in Jacksonville Florida) and if the people that stole her didn’t cross state lines before the storm they will soon. So we are pleading with the RV community for help. Please pass this story along in every way poss...
I just finished writing my book titled Buying & Thriving In Your First Motorhome, it has over 25 years of my experience with the tips, tricks & knowledge of owning, renting, living & traveling in an RV that I learn along the road.I am looking to give this book away during my free promo that i...
hello, i plan to start FT RVing next Autumn in a luxury toy hauler. Love the floor plans they are coming out with, but there are a few things i want to have done locally so I can design for 2nd bedroom, bathroom in the garage. I have drawn up my custom plan and it basically entails having the manufacturer NOT...
A bachelor here, seeking ideas from the ladies for putting a curtain on my front door. There is about a finger width (1/2" to 5/8") space between the door & the screen. I am tired of handing a towel over the door. Thanks in advance
Hi everyone, My wife and I are about to start fulltiming next month. We will be needing to change banks. Has anyone noticed an HSBC bank anywhere in TX?
Has anyone taken the Class A Exempt (Non-Commercial) driving test in the Dallas area? If so, where did you take it and how did you schedule your appointment? I am trying to find out which TX DPS offices in our area offer this test. DPS doesn't indicate it on their website. Someone told me that only the Dal...
This retired stuff ain't all it's cracked up to be! Today is moving day and I've already decided I'll have to get a job to to rest up! put the fiver in the park this morning and will spend our first full time night tonight. Actually the stress is already gone. Now if someone will buy the house quick I'll be a h...
Helo to all from Naples, Fl. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your forum. Where to start?? My name is Dan and I live with an incredible family of four. Wife is a teacher. Children are 9 and 7. One boy and one girl. We are an outdoors family for sure. Boating, camping and hiking are what we love...
I recently bought a 2003 NuWa 32 foot Hitchiker II. It has the original 5th wheel pin box. I would like to upgrade to a newer or better one. Which would y9ou suggest? I am new to RVing and want to make sure it is safe.
Hi everyone - it's been a long time! I signed up last fall, and since then we have listed our home, sold our existing trailer, listed our halfton, and are preparing for full-time life by the fall of 2017. And we absolutely CANNOT wait!!! Of course, we also have been obsessively shopping for our new home....
Does anyone want to suggest a mfgr who makes a toy-hauler trailer that's put together and insulated well enough to stand up to full-timing? I already know about Space Craft and may have to go that route; but are there any out there off-the-shelf. I don't think New Horizon's doing MotoMovers anymore...
Any information on RV living in Oregon late fall/early winter? Will be full time for a work contract. Will any part of the state be non freezing temps!!
We got word yesterday that Coach-Net is raising rates dramatically for their roadside assistance product "Roadside Protect". The Premium Towable plan is going from $139 to $179 per year and the Motorized Plan is going from $159 up to $249. And they are no longer allowing us to offer discounts for f...
Been anxiously checking for the finance updates on the journal from Linda and Howard that look forward to each month but nothing and we're almost at the end of September. Just curious have they stopped reporting them? Also when I search on the finances section just shows up to May in there. Realize e...
I was looking at the Truma AquaGo tankless water heaters. On the Truma website, I checked my area for a location where I can purchase but they only seemed to list RV repair or RV renovation companies. Can you purchase these online or from an RV dealer & install yourself?
I have two 12V socket plugs (or if you prefer cigarette lighter type sockets) in my RV - One is in front of the passenger seat and the other is under a desk in the bedroom. I currently have purchased 2 Bestek inverters that I use for charging phones and using a laptop. I also plugs my TV and Sat. Box into the i...
So I am a tad confused on the tire pressure for my 2014 F 450. According to the "tires" the cold psi should be 80#. On the door jamb of the truck it estates front tires cold psi should be 75# and the dually rear tires cold psi should be 60#. Now the 5# difference in the front tires seems prettyminor but the 20# o...
Hello. I am new to this forum. After trying to find a good resource online I decided I would join here and get some honest opinions. We are in search of our 3rd and hopefully final 5th wheel. We plan to fulltime (hopefully soon) and are upgrading accordingly. I have researched the Heartland Cyclone...
Started prepping our 5th wheel to head out for a month. It has been in storage for a year. I checked the tire pressure and the Michelin XPS RIBS I bought a few years ago had only lost 4 PSI each since our last trip. Previous tire sets would show a loss of up to 20 pounds when sitting for less than 6 months. Mak...
Note: this post is copied from my posting in an old thread. a user suggested i start a new one so here goes: hi folks, i am researching luxury toy haulers to go full time next year. i will be getting one that has a full bathroom in garage (or add what i need) so i have 2 full suites with common area in between. i...
First of all, thank you very much for the feedback on dual pane windows. The consensus is very strong in favor. I found it interesting that the only person who didn't think I would value them was a dealer (probably because they didn't normally order them with that feature). So, here is my new area of inq...
