Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Anyone have any good information on RV parks around the Dallas area? We are heading there late September for an RV show. -- Edited by Doncat at 14:16, 2006-08-29
During our recent 3400 mile trip we encountered problems with the brakes on our 2000 Monaco Knight DP. This motorhome is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes with ABS.
On the 2nd day of our trip I smelled burning brake lining as we drove near Dothan, AL and discovered that the rear wheel...

Do you have anything in particular, a "Theme" if you will, when you travel?
Although we are High Intensity Part Timers, we often seek out old fashioned train rides in our travels. We've done the Grand Canyon train ride in AZ, the 1880s train ride near Mt. Rushmore in SD, the Conch "train...
While we were in Junction City, Ks. we toured the "New Horizons" place. They do not make units for dealers and the customer designs what he wants in an RV and they make it to your specs. My husband and I were really inpressed with these units from the steel structure to the finished product....
We are George & Sandy. We are counting down the 36 months to our planned escape on our Great RV Adventure in early autumn of 2009. We made our decision to jump in with both feel about six weeks ago. Surprisingly, we have already started to sell "stuff"on eBay and are quite...
I am less than three years from retirement and don't necessarily want to work when full timing but may have to to keep from getting bored or may have to depending on the price of fuel. AND I know you have to have a plan in retirement. What is your plan?Lets here from the full time folks out there that...
Hello everyone. First off we would like to thank Linda & Howard for the time they give up to educate us. We began camping in a popup camper in 1981. We stopped for several years but began looking at RV's when we retired in 2002. We park our RV at a campground on a seasonal site for 6mo and take it out usual...
Well, I've been doing a bunch of research on protecting your RV from storms. I've read several forums on this subject and looked back over RVing magazines.
I did find out that if you fill up your fresh water tanks and your holding tanks with water, It adds a lot of weight that helps hold your RV "down".

We (my DW and I) have been researching the fulltime lifestyle and have come across a lot of advice to have an exit plan. Plan on what to do when you get too old to travel..
How many of you have exit plans? Do you mind sharing them with us?
Hi Linda,

Here's a question that I thought of the other day while I was at my home town library. To get a library card and check out books, you have to have an address in our town. So...I was wondering what full-timers did about checking books out at the library where the were staying?
I love to go to the libr...
This past weekend Terri and i had an opportunity to look at Grand Junction ffith wheels made by Thor. They "appear" to be quality and we loved some of the standard features including the mor ryde, and loved their floorplans.

Workhorse just announced their new rear engine gas pusher RV chassis. Would you consider buying one? Their target market is high end gas motorhomes. I wonder how much cheaper it is going to be over a DP?
Workhorse will be showing one at the Hersh...
We have reservations in December for 2 weeks. Has any one been to this RV Park at the very tip of the South Padre Island? I hear it will be windy and no shade. Any suggestions for restaurants or must see or do in the area? Plan to check out the area for the winter months when we are F...
Hi Linda, (hi Howard)
I found RV Dreams about two weeks ago and finally finished reading all the journal entries yesterday. (Whew!) I'm not an RVer, although I did live full-time on a houseboat for about 5 years. I've been looking at Class B RVs to possibly do some extensive traveling throughout the...
Took a weekend trip to the local favorite campground with our grandson, Andrew (2 1/2). Had a great time, he enjoyed riding in the front passenger seat (in his car seat). He normally rides in back and can't see much.
He loved it, enjoyed playing with all the buttons and switches. ...

Wanted to say hello and relate how great it is to find a site that is so member friendly without the constant challenging and disagreement with posts.

When you venture out in the campground, go on the trail, or on the lake, do you carry your driver's licenses, health insurance cards, etc.? I always feel I should have them handy but I also worry about losing them or worse, having them stolen.
So I think I'd recommend (and would love thoughts fr...
At the ripe old age of 50 something, I am trying to decide wether to convert my traditional IRA into a Roth IRA. Is it better to pay the taxes now or later. Mine and my wife's IRA are in mutual funds if that makes a difference.
Also I hope to be fulltiming when I withdraw my funds. Does it m...
