Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
There are lots of types of filters out there, oil, fuel, air, water, etc made by many differant manufacturers. Is there any specific brand that you've had great success with and other brands that you'd stay away from? I prefer NAPA/Wix filters, and try to stay away from Fram. I can't sa...
Hi,
We just arrived in San Diego the other day and needed a fillup badly. We had a difficult time finding anyone who even sold diesel and then ended up paying $3.259 I don't even think we paid that much during the summer in New England when fuel was at it's highest.
AAAAA...
Is there a person writing about full-timing that uses a MDT for towing? I love reading about peoples' full-time experiences and am interested in MDT'S but have never found a writer driving a MDT.
Hi, I'm still trying to find a way to soften the non towing ride of our F350 diesel dually. I'm looking at the Mor-Ryde RL system for the drive axle and am wondering if anyone in the group has it, or knows anyone who has experience with it. Here's the link. http://tinyurl.com/2qf83m Any comments, or al...
It seems like there is a huge push by RV manufacturers to sell the Ultra Leather (UL) furniture from the drivers seats to the couches and other furniture throughout the RV. How well does the UL hold up over time for full time use? My current MH has Fabric seats and furniture and at four years of part ti...
We have been full-timers since Sept, 2006. The journal is a record of our journey as we converted from a stick and brick home to an RV and from a career as a jet pilot/instructor at Flight Safety International, Inc to Retired. We hope you enjoy reading about it. Welcome, we are glad to have you on board. Th...
As we hunt for our perfect MH, I keep finding manufacturers are putting in these Euro Chairs instead of regular recliners. They are very uncomfortable and you have to constantly find a place for the detached foot stool when you drive it. A recliner self contains the foot rest so no stowin...
We have been on the "fulltime - not fulltime" rollercoaster. We are back to yes we are fulltiming. However, we will not be traveling much for the next few years. We will pretty much be stationary, with the exception of regular weekend and vacation get aways. Richard will be doing a 2 year s...
In times of utter non-sensical darkness, the strength and comfort of the Hokie spirit and community beams a ray of light and hope. I am proud to be a Hokie. Virginia Tech Industrial Engineering & Operations Research B.S. 1982 Research Faculty 1982 - 1993 "We Are Virginia Tech" by Nikk...
I have read a lot lately about awnings coming unhooked and damaged while traveling. I had never heard of this before. Is this a common problem and what do we need to do to make sure this never happens to us. Thanks.
Ok, I sure that like a lot of you, I think I'm starting to lose my mind...My wife and I are researhing and trying to get as much info as possible to be full time RVers in a couple of years. Although we have only been in this info gathering mode for about 6-7 months now, it seems like the more we learn, the more...
Just an FYI... I ran across the American Hospital Directory web site (www.ahd.com) which has a freebie hospital locator tool. Try a search by just selecting only a state. What is very handy is they added a "map" view to their "list" view of search results making your travel plan...
The house is sold and we close next Monday 4/16/07. We are having an auction to get rid of the STUFF. Problem!!!!! It is scheduled for Sat in KC, MO area. Suppose to be 39 and possible snow showers. :( Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We really could use a little sunshine. Thanks Gene &a...
Hi Howard, I am using SmugMug for storing my photos online (used your referral code when I signed up). I was just uploading photos and notices it is a slow process. Which method do you use to upload your photos? Do you go bulk uploading? I am looking for a faster method........................... D...
We are living in our fifth wheel in a State Park renting out boats right now. We own the business. We sold our home last week and as soon as the boat season is over we are on the road full time. We have Dish Network and I wrote them an email telling them that we will be full time rving in Nov of this year. The Stat...
Just wondering what other fulltimers use for banking. Is there a nationwide bank, or do you use local banks and use the internet?? We use our local credit union and use our ATM/debit card. Just wondering.....not being nosey, just wondering if there are other, easier options. Thanks, Postal Pair...
Hi all. I'm Mitch from Hanover Pa. My wife and I are very interested in Rving. We've never did it before but we would like to try it on vacation. It may be a couple of years down the road before we can get an Rv, but with this great forum, we'll be a head of the game.
Just wondering as newbee getting started in fulltiming, which credit card is preferred by those of you that have done this awhile. A card such as "Discover" that offers cash back, or one that has lower interest rate and well known name? Maybe it doesn't make any differen...
Glad to have found this forum, I am always looking for friendly RV sites to network and find good company on. My boyfriend Keith is Canadian and a helicopter pilot. I am American and a Virtual Assistant. He whisked me off my feet 7 years ago and we have been full-time traveling ever since. We finally got o...
Like others in this topic - I wish I'd known about blogging when we first started traveling. I was keeping in touch with friends and family by sending mass emails on a regular basis, and while they appreciated the stories, the format was not so friendly. It wasn't until this last August that I got my fe...
We are getting our new 5ver this next week and I have a question for you. What do you think about the dark cherry wood cabinets vs the Oak? I feel that I might get tired of the dark wood over time. Are there any other reasons I should not have dark cabinets?

We are planning a trip to Puerto Penasco during March. What do we need to know? Where is the best place to stay in a 5th wheel? What do we need to know about taking our rig into Mexico? We always appreciate your feedback.

We are full timers, but not full time on the road. I have 3 more years and then we will be on the go. Hope to see you out there. -- Edited by Speedhitch at 22:49, 2007-03-31
We are still in the process of gathering information and data on the many manufacturers of Fifth Wheels out there....what things come standard with different units and what options are offered, etc... For those who don't know, my wife and I are researching for a fifth wheel for living in full tim...
We have verbally agreed to purchase a 2003 Damon Challenger model 329, brought to Canada fr. Florida by dealer. Excellent condition. Except: noticed an "old" water stain on the rear (driver's side) of bedroom. Pointed it out to dealer ( it was very faint) He seemed like he had...
Moved this post from Weaverworks to its own Topic. I have the following books for sale. I have read them and would like to pass them onto someone else who might enjoy them. The price is the price I payed on Amazon for the books. Some of them seem high, but those RV writers must be in "high demand"...
