Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Orignally I was scheduled to leave for a workamping job in Alaska on 4/15 but the man that ran the campground for Fish & Wildlife has had a stroke so they had to turn it over to F&W. So I had to start over and got a offer from a resort in the Florida panhandle. March 15 I leave CA and will take two weeks t...
The economic downturn must be over! We went to the Ft. Worth RV show today and the prices did not reflect an economic disaster at all. Going by the show prices, there's no problems in the RV industry at all. Isn't that good news? Funny thing was though, there wasn't very many sales people around to te...
We have been offered a camphosting job that we can't do so thought we would put it on here for someone else. If interested, let me know and I will get more details. My husband spoke with them and he isn't here right now
We're part-timers preparing to go full-time and we're on a mission, literally. If you have a moment, check out our web site and we invite you to follow along with us on our journey. The URL is http://www.RVoutreach.org and you should be able to click the picture in our sig. Jerry & Cynthia -- Edit...
Greetings, I'd like to purchase a Wilson Trucker magnetic cell phone antenna for our truck. What model number do most folks purchase? Is is 30113? Since we haven't gotten our rig yet and don't plan on fulltiming just yet, I am looking more at the portable rather than permanently mounted one for the RV....
My DW and I went looking at some TT's yesterday. We'd really like to get a 27t Hi-Lo so we can get 12-13 mpg towing it with a 1/2 ton as others have reported on the Hi-Lo board. This would allow us to be more mobile, as I expect gas prices to rise to over $5 /gallon range during my retirement years. If I coul...
When I flip the switch to turn on my water heater it will try three times and then a red light comes on. I turn the switch off and wait a few seconds, then try again. Usually it lights the next try or two. I would like to know if anyone can tell right away what it could be. My water heater doesn't have an ano...
While reading today's Excapees forum on"how the economy on full timing will affect your life", beware of the last Teton rigs in the making ,before going out of business. It seems as though the company made due with left over materials they had and shorted even some insulation in the wal...
I just did something that I always do but then had an "AHA" moment where I thought I should share a tip. I buy hamburger in bulk and divide it into 1# stacks, then stuff into 1 quart freezer ziplock bags. As you flatten it, all the air is pushed out the top of the bag and they take up a lot less spa...
We joined Recreation USA, a $10 per nite RV network. The home park of Recreation USA is Eagle's Landing in Holt, FL, just East of Pensacola. What a neat park. All sites are pull thrus, 100 ft long and 35 ft wide. It is a very neat and clean park and the $10 a nite fee makes it even more enjoyable.
Does anyone know anything about this 5th wheel or the manufacturer? According to the ad it is 40' long, and has 2 slides. I have no idea of the quality that Belair put(s?) out or how difficult it would be to get parts. I appreciate any information.
Hello everyone Hoping someone out there can help us with some info. We are wanting to head home earlier than anticipated. We are from Canada northwestern ontario and we know we can't travel with our 5th wheel all the way home. The weather is so unpredictable and we don't want to take the chance of tow...
Some of those 'good deals' may be repos. The question is -- what RV dealers get repos? Anyone know how to find them on the internet? Do you know of any RV dealers? At the recent Wash DC/Dulles Expo RV show I heard a guy talk about King RV in Fredericksburg VA. Sure enough! We called and ended up going dow...
We are Joe and Nikki in our early 60’s and started full timing in June 2008.We have been following RV-Dreams for a couple of years which has kept us vicariously involved in our own dream of full timing. In 1998 we purchased a 26’ trailer (which we called TrailsEnd) pulled by a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee and st...
We are Ken (the big ugly one), Vilma (the little cute one) and the Grandpups (the furry ones without thumbs). The Grandpups are 2 English Springer Spaniels. I was raised in the country close to small towns all over the South. We did a lot of moving around and tent camping. Vilma was raised in a Nipa hut in a...
I created my RVing blog some months ago and installed site meter in order to keep track of the number of visitors. I have had several questions and comments from readers asking if I kept journals while backpacking on the Appalachian Trail, and also during the time I lived in Ireland. I kept journals f...
Since we are in TTrails Park Orlando we were wondering if anyone else is here, we will be here for 2 wks starting today. We are in E-32 with the Elite Suites stop by. southwestjudy
We are planning to do some RVing next year. Full-time? Not sure yet. My question is, which is more cost-effective to repair: A truck or a camper? We are planning to purchase something very inexpensive (think $5,000 total). Should we go for an old pickup and a small trailer, or an all-in-one RV? I know it...
Howard can you help me, today for some reason when I try to read the journal my computer locks up on that page. Every other page works fine. The only way I can get out of the lock up is to hit ctrl alt deleat Though you might be able to shed some light on this problem for me. thanks
Does anyone have any input on these. Are they suitable for long/full timing? We are looking at a 2007 35RLT. It is not my first choice in brands but it appears to be at the higher end of Forest River products. I am looking at it because it might be a deal that cannot be passed up.
The RV lifestyle is appealing to me, and this might be an option when I retire in 6 years. There is a big RV show this weekend in my town. It's called the MARVAC Camper & RV Show and here is a link to it: http://www.marvac.org/rvshows.html I've never been to an RV show before, but I've been to car and b...
We posted our blog elsewhere in the forum, but now are getting it in the RIGHT spot! Check it out and let us know what you think! http://roamingfree2010.blogspot.com/ Thanks!
Our thermostat seems to have a mind of it's own. We will set it at a certain temp. and the thing changes to 72, faithfully, on it's own! Has anyone had a problem with theirs? If so, what did you do to fix the darn thing. I mean it is cold outside but 72 is a little warm for us!
Hello to all! My wife and I are looking at possibly becoming fulltimers in about 3 years when our youngest son goes off to college. We are both adventuresome types, non - mechanical, who love to travel, meet new people and enjoy life. We have looked at buying a sailboat and living aboard and want to ex...
http://bryantrv.com/index.html I ran across the above site while researching a problem with one of the appliances in our 5th wheel, can't remember which, but it was one of the big ones.... anyway this site had a service manual for the appliance so I was able to use it to determine the cause and repair s...
OK - We've had our fifth wheel for about 3 weeks, spent 2 weeks getting things packed aboard and are headed for Orlando - carefully and in 250 to 300 mile segments. We're near Austin now and will be passing through or around Houston tomorrow to stay in Beaumont. We're Texas residents and have been to Ho...
