Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Where did you go first?

This question is for all of the full timers.  I'm wondering where you went on your first full time RV trip?  Right now I'm thinking I'll head for Florida because it will be Fall when I start.  It won't be the first place I stop since it's over 1,000 miles away but it might be my first destination.  How about you?

We got our rig in February and did exactly the same thing, headed for Florida. Just did overnights till we hit Savannah and then we set for a week to figure out how everything worked. Seems like forever ago.

Good luck, it's an exciting time.

Since we lived in N.M. when we first went full timing we left in Oct. and spent the winter in Tucson.
We later spend 2 winters there and the last in Florida. Liked Florida better for the winters.

We hit the road full-time the day after Thanksgiving (in 2000) so we, too, headed to Florida from Ohio.  We stopped at the Escapees park in Racoon Valley for several days along with a few overnight stops before getting to Central FL.  We were there till after New Year's, then headed west, getting to Las Vegas around April 15 and went to Alaska from there.

We were on the West Coast and it was late summer so we headed for New England to see the fall colors (foliage). Then we worked our way down to Florida visiting Washington D.C., Myrtle Beach, Charleston, SC and Savannah on the way.

While we are not fulltimers...still wannabe planners.  First we have to put our house on the market.  That will be our biggest step.  Then when it finally sells, we think dh will continue to work for 6 months to a year.  That will have my vehicle paid off and a bigger savings.

The plan would be to live in 2 different campgrounds/RV parks what ever you want to call them.  One is a long term park ont he same base dh works at, would be convenient for him to get to work.  The other would be a 30 minute to an hour drive, but it would be nice for the summer months.  As it has a pool and lake.  The one on base has the ocean..lol.  These are just hit and miss plans.

Since I watch our granddaughter, our daughter asked if we could at least wait until she is in kindergarten.  I could still care for her from both campgrounds.  Just be alot of driving for them to drop her off and me to meet them or pick her up.  That is minor too.

Until we list the house...it is fun to dream.

We're still wannabees too, but I imagine when the time comes, we will head to Florida or Texas for the winter. Getting really tired of cold winters. If our house sells in the summer, we would probably stay around the midwest until late fall.

We will leave to go full time in June or July of next year. Our plan is to head up the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive with a final destination of Lancaster County Amish Country. By the time we get to Amish Country, it should be about September, then we'll head back south to somewhere warm for the winter.

Sherri and I went to south Louisiana to see the coast and areas we had never been to before. We stayed in that area for two weeks and really enjoyed ourselves. Since that time the fun has just got better. We have not taken our west coast adventure yet but it will come soon enough and I know we will enjoy it too.

Mike and I began full-timing August 18th and we stayed at Pine Mountain RV Resort until we could get our Dr. appt. completed etc. then we headed to Texas in Sept. for a month volunteering job at a wildlife refuge. We were to attend the RV Dreams rally but got a call from Mike's mom that she needed a minor surgery procedure done so we flew to Nashville and then returned to the refuge to complete our time there. We are now slowly heading back to Georgia for the holidays.

Walt Disney World! dh had not had a vacation in two years, so we took our saved vacation dollars and splurged on staying at Ft. Wilderness CG. We then toured Florida for the remainder of February and most of March before heading back west across the Gulf states.
