Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Has any one been to any Arizona camp grounds with pets? We are new to this full timers thing and very exited to begin our journy. We have a large fur baby (german sheppard) Maggie, and most all of the camp grounds are saying that they have a size restriction. We want to be in Arizona for the winter months th...
We are looking to buy our first RV very shortly. We would really like to buy it within the next month or two but I was wondering if it would be best to wait for the RV show that is in town in Sept to get one there. We are looking at Travel Trailers and need a pretty specific floor plan where there are 2 bedrooms (...
The website indicates that the distance to electricity varies from site to site, with most listed at 10-20 yards. is that correct? I thought most places had either one pedestal per site, or one (with four circuits) located in the middle of four sites.
YEP, we are now Wal Martians, made our first ever overnight at Wal Mart in Greeley, Colorado. Pat went in, made a purchase and holding the bags asked the mgr. for permission to spend the nt. It was readily granted, noting that Pat specified ONE nt.We noticed two class C units in the lot when we arrived in t...
I had a hard time understanding why the mfg says to repack the wheel bearings every year even though I usually put on less than a thousand miles a year on our 30' Cardinal 5th wheel. But after talking to many people who know wheel bearings I decided it needed to be done every year. The last time I used Mobil...
Hi everyone. I've been on this forum since last winter - soaking up all the great information I can about full timing. We bought a new 17' molded fiberglass Casita travel trailer in 2008 & have wanted to go full time for the past 2 yrs. Well, we "launch" in a couple of weeks. Although we hav...
I started a workkamping assignment here at Millwood Landing RV and Golf Resort where we've been staying in Ashdown, Arkansas. We really like the park and they've been charging us $600 a month (includes full hook ups,) Since Johnny's going to be working here in the area for a while and I prefer to be her...

While I am gun-shy after losing one contract on our house, enough has been done to warrant me feeling a bit more confident with the latest one. If you REALLY want all the agonizing details, you can always check out my May 14 blog posting. But, after 3 years of being on the market, we now have a contract on ou...
I love reading through the posts on this forum and I finally decided to join in! My husband and I are in our early forties and our children are 17, 21, and 23. We have been dreaming of fulltiming for over two years now. Acatually it is more like obsessing than dreaming! We cant wait to get on the road!...
I'm probably just blind, but can't seem to find out where to add getting emailed when something happens in a thread or particular forum topic that you are subscribed to? I have checked the "email me" box for new post to a topic as well, and am subscribed to a topic, but haven't seen any emails a...
My next question is on health insurance. I am currently insured with an individual PPO policy with Blue Cross. It has slowly become exhorbitant, as they usually do. I'd like to see what else is out there and hopefully switch. However, I noticed when I gave the Escapees city address to Aetna, the pl...
I understand that slides give more room and are a great addition to full timers. Lately I've been reading a lot about slides failing - leaking being the most common as well as sagging. I'm starting to wonder if the extra room is worth the possible added maintenance issues. It stands to reason that so...
I am ready, he is not. Husband retired last August. We have spent the last year figuring out that financially we are ready for me to retire also. I would LOVE to sell the house, move into the 5th wheel & go see the country but I am having a hard time convincing him. He likes the idea somewhat BUT says...
Just got an email from the co-ordinator at the place we're supposed to start work-camping at, beginning May 12th. She said that because of the bad winter, and recent heavy rains, the owner of the campground that we'd be staying at, can not accomodate us as of that date. Supposedly, the grounds are to...
My husband and I are getting ready to start our lives on the road.. In the process of downgrading on furniture and things we wont need. Searching now for a used RV to start with, I am very excited about being on the road and meeting those around us that also live on the road.. We have alot to learn, I am lookin...
Mike and I are hoping to go to British Columbia for the months of August and September. We have a son there as well as several friends. But, being on a tight budget, we're having problems finding reasonably priced campgrounds. $30 to $40 a night in Canadian dollars is a lot more than we want to spend. D...
With all of the wet weather we have been having in the Midwest and owner Great Lakes area, was wandering what ideas you Any have come up with to keep the jacks on you rig from sinking into the ground. I have seen some rigs use blocks of wood but would like to find something less bulky to use. Have read revie...
We are staying at the ocean in WA state. It is very windy today and we can't get the water heater to stay lit. Do strong winds affect whether the water heater will light or could we have a bigger problem? We are parked directly square against the wind. Beautiful view but feeling the full force of the wi...
Meeting with an estate liquidator on Monday to negotiate a price for all the things I'll be leaving behind. I'm feeling very raw, sad and vulnerable about handing over most of my things and my house to others' care forever. I've also had to contend with at least one meddlesome and unbalanced acquainta...
We had our Jayco witerized last winter. Sunday I deceided to sanatize the water system getting ready to head to South Dakota for a work-camping gig for the summer. While I thought I was filling the system water started comming out of the belly-pan. I took trailer back too the repair shop and they fo...
My husband and I are in are early 40s and have a 5 yo son and 3 yo daughter. I have dreamed of travelling the continent in an RV. When I moved cross-country, I loved the feeling of being on the road with everything I owned. My dream is to sell everything and hit the road when the kids move out. I have a while...
I would normally not put a generic web link on a forum, but this one sort of fits in with RV Dreams and confirms a reason for traveling this great country in our rolling homes. I've been to most of the places featured, but wished I had been as good at picture taking. http://mybeautifulamerica.com/Bea...
I have a Pantech UML290 Aircard, Cradlepoint 1000 router, an amplifier and a wilson antenna. I am in a Verizon 4g area with great data service. I've checked the service map and the antenna map. Would someone please tell me why I sometimes lose internet service. My "currently connected to:&q...
So, today was RV prep day. We spent the day loading it up for the summer and cleaning it. In the process, our daughter decided to test out the 12v dash socket as a coin deposit. She started stuffing nickels and pennies in it. I figured out what she was doing and stopped her at 8 cents. I was able to remove the p...
