Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We plan to travel to Quebec in mid-August 2011 - driving up from NH, then along the eastern part of the St. Lawrence Seaway, then down the western side to Quebec City, on to Mont Tremblant and back down through NY State. If any of you have a blog that talks about that part of the world, we'd love to read it. ...
So how does one know whether a particular road is okay to drive down before driving down it and seeing the low clearance or max bridge weight signs? Obviously one will know your rig is 12 ft 7 in or whatever and that your gross pickup and 5ver weight is 25,300 or whatever so that isn't a real issue. Is ther...
I'm sure most of the members here have noticed that Cradlepoint has released a lot of new routers recently under a new NetBSD platform. We just put together a written review highlighting the new NetBSD features as well as a video walkthrough showing off some of the differences. Full video demo here - C...
Ok, I will be the first to admit that I'm not a real techie-type so I apologize upfront if I'm asking a stupid question! At our house, we have 2 satellite dishes - 1 for Dish Network TV & the other for Earthlink satellite internet. When we go on the road, is there a rooftop sat dish system that will re...
Walking through the CG tonight being invited into just about every campfire, my wife looked at me as she has so many times and said "Everyone Is So Nice". I began to think about it, she is right, most everyone we meet while on the road has such a nice open warm way about them. Maybe it's because t...
Ok, I feel dumb as rocks asking this. Please forgive me if this has been asked a million times - all this information is wonderful but overwhelming! We are new to RVing and it's like learning a new language ;)We are looking to go full-time in just a few months. We need internet and possibly TV. TV is a w...
Perhaps a dumb question, but I'm a newbie and this is how I learn. I notice in photos of RV's I'm researching online that some of the toilets are FLAT on the floor and others are raised up on a platform like structure ----- WHY????
Hello, Glad to be able to join your forum. It's good to be able to discuss with others who are wanting or are living the RV dream. Hubby & I have talked about doing this on and off for the pass couple of years. We have decided with the state of economy and his loss of the job. We would start tomorrow bu...
Back in March we announced that we'd be getting a 4G Omni Antenna to test in April that offered increased reception on the standard (800/1900Mhz) 3G frequencies as well as the 700Mhz 4G LTE band. Since we've received the antenna we've conducted several tests to see how well this antenna works with Ver...
We have the chance to buy a 2007 Shadow Cruiser Land Roamer 315QB from a guy at my work at an awesome price. He used it to full time for two years before they came to AZ and bought a house. They have used it once in about a year that they have been out here. He has had it in storage since he bought the house about...
We are looking at getting our first rig (class a - diesel)...several we have found have solar charging systems listed as upgrades included...what is this? Sounds great - just don't have a clue as to how to what this does. We were hoping this might help us have the ability to boondock longer but wasn't s...
My husband and I want to downsize from a 1300 sq ft house into a fifth wheel with 5 dogs. Two Great Danes and 3 Golden Retrievers. We have looked at toy haulers and we are leaning toward doing this. My husband is a truck driver and is gone 5 days a week. I am not allowed to travel with him so I am at home in this big...
These pictures appeared on one of the forums related to the DRV Suites coaches. There are 18 pictures, the last few of which are images of e-mail messages between the owner and DRV people. Apparently, this Mobile Suites is a 2005 model and got through the storm in pretty good shape. Well, except for...
We filled up two 8 kg propane tanks less than two months ago which are now dry. Is this typical? No one has been living in it! We used it when we were in it for a couple of days, but even our fridge was not working due to a blown fuse, and we never turned on the stove except to test it. We did use the furnace for a few...
My husband and I are thinking about a simpler life and to get out of so many responsibilities and get down to traveling. Our major problem is we have 2 Great Danes, and 3 Golden Retrievers and I show dogs. So having an RV has been an idea we have thought about for awhile. However we have had a life change, Dav...
Our misfortune is someone's great opportunity. For the past 5 years we've attended the July 4th weekend NASCAR races in Daytona Beach, FL. Unfortunately, Johnny had an accident last week and we can't use our tickets this year. We have an infield parking spot in the Lake Lloyd section spot 98. It ba...
Hi y'all: I recently purchased a 1999 Hitchhiker II but as of yet have not been able to get the fridge to turn on. The fuses are all intact, but the pilot light is out. Advisement is most welcome! Laurie
We have sold our home in Indiana and currently using my SIL's Indiana address for mail and legal address. We are living in our coach fulltime. We are considering making our residency in South Dakota. Our situation is that my wife will continue to work for an Indiana company as we travel. I'm retir...
I was all set on getting a 30-ft 5th wheel for full-timing, but with my limited budget, I may not be able to find something with slide-outs, and it might not be that well-insulated for extreme temps since most trailers in my price range are 15-20 years old. So now I am weighing the option of getting a used,...
I have noticed that some of us, myself included have been a wee bit lax on the idea of following Howard's "rules" that he outlined at this thread:http://rv-dreams.activeboard.com/t8067456/guidelines-and-suggestions/The reason I bring it up is because some posts are placed in this...
We're working out lots of transitions right now... Transitioning to fulltime rv living, transitioning from 5th wheel toy hauler to diesel pusher and maybe from a motorcycle to a trike. We're trying to figure out how to make all the moving pieces fit. If we were going to stick with the motorcycle ou...
I'm wondering what I should expect to pay to have the oil changed in my motorhome. It's a Class A gasoline engine, so for oil + filter + work = $$ ? Thanks, just want to be prepared. Vee
Until Friday we assumed that when we retire in four years we would be in either a FW or DP. Friday we attended a dealer's show that included several manufacturer's reps in attendance. The Airstream rep told us that we could easily FT in one of their rigs, and that since they are lighter we wouldn't need a b...
I'm sure this is an old question but I'm new to this forum and I wanted to get some information as well as opinions regarding the pros and cons of both! Thanks!
Want to find a nice (not too expensive) rv park or campground. We have a 38 ft 5er. In Flagstaff preferably, but Sedona would be ok too. At least elec and water. I've been on RV park reviews and not really finding anything...... Any recommendations? Doris and Dave -- Edited by DorisandDave on Saturd...
