Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi guy's and gal's. I have started a blog and am looking for advice on how to keep it interesting. The address is http://rodger-ourgrandadventure.blogspot.com Hope to see you on the road.
It looks like we are getting a 5th wheel just as soon as we sell the house. My DH wanted me to ask which is better for tires. We are going to be living in the RV for awhile before we take it out on the road due to jobs. What is the best way to save on the tires? Jacking the RV off the ground and block it up, ok for it to s...
Here's two weird occurances in one day.... Number One-I bought 4 new tires for the 5th wheel in June of 2004. Two of them went bad on a recent return trip. I finally had a chance to go back to Sears over the weekend to get replacements. The warranty doesn't show a time limit, only 50,000 miles with a pro-...
I have been told that tires should not stay on cement products for extended periods of time because it will leach out the tires and make them dry rot faster.I was told to put black plastic between the tires and cement blocks when storing for the winter.I was then told they should not come into contact...

Hey guys, I'm happy to announce that we're now carrying the WiFi Ranger after extensive testing. I know that there's been a lot of talk about this device and we've been testing it for a while. I must say that I've been pretty impressed with the performance of the ranger! You can read our full review here -...
Hello fellow Campers, I am new here but not to camping. I started in RI as a kid in the woods, then boy scouts. Moved to the west coast and got back into camping on my sailboat for a while now I have moved to land camping. I had a Rockwood 1809 but it sustained some frame damage in a freeway situation. I now h...
We recently retired and are anxious to e-mail with others who like the freedom of hitting the open road in their RV's. We love to travel and see this graet country of ours. We hope to become fulltimers some day soon. We love to look at how things were in the past . The time before the whiteman when this lan...
Is it hard to find as place to run when you're camping? Don't get me wrong, I'm not currently a runner, but I am considering staring to run again and I would want to continue when I go FT.
I have our RV connected to our S/B electrical service. Is there a way I can monitor the RV's electrical consumption? Just curious how much my RV is costing me sitting on the pad. We are in it almost daily doing a few odds and ends. We could unplug for a few weeks but would need to plug back in to work in it. I...
I've been researching becoming a South Dakota resident. When I called my health insurance company (husband & I are self-insured & in our 50's), they quoted me a monthly rate that is TRIPLE what I pay here in Colorado. We can't afford that type of increase! So any of you folks who are domicil...
Hi all!My husband and I are just beginning to research the idea of full-timing and I must say, it has a lot of appeal. We have a million questions and this forum is a wonderful resource. We’re thinking of purchasing a used 5th wheel but have realized in searching on line that we may want to purchase som...
I know a lot of the members have been looking at the WiFi Ranger as a dedicated router that offers WiFi as WAN, but if you've already got a Cradlepoint router that doesn't offer WiFi as WAN the Pepwave is a great option to add in that capability. I think the big concern is setup and how hard is it to actually c...
Hi, I was wondering if many people use surge protectors when hooking up to electric at campgrounds. I know that surge protection is a good idea but has anyone experienced a surge that caused damage? Thanks for your assistance! Bruce

When it is sunny out we usually put the awning out, if we leave camp, we put it in just in case the weather changes suddenly and the wind sensor decides not to work... We would also like enjoy the awning on rainy days, I usually will not put the awning out on rain days because I don't want to retra...
I wanted to give anybody using the Verizon UML290 a heads up and let them know to be wary of a new firmware update (L0290VWB522F.242) being rolled out through VZAccess Manager and DO NOT UPDATE IT. If you're using this in conjunction with a Cradlepoint or Nexaira product you may experience serious con...
I'm from the east coast and spent this winter in Tucson, AZ. I have never had allergies before and I rarely get sick. During the first week of March I began to experience allergy symptoms (swollen glands in throat, watery eyes, runny nose, tickle in my throat). I was gone for almost two weeks (in Hawa...

We are, after 5 years of planning, taking the plunge! I gave notice at work and leaving for Colorado (from Michigan) on June 4, 2011! It was a difficult decision. My wife and I are just beginning to give consideration to the whole workamping thing. We have spoken to many folks that are or who have previously done workamping and everyone seems to really like doing it, some because they have to a...
I have a couple of questions about the electric brake controllers. First, which controller do you all consider to be the better ones to use. Second, I have one in my truck now, if I get a new one do they generally hook up the same way or do they come with different connectors that need new wiring? Thanks for...
My husband, 2 yr & I are planning to full time RV for a couple years. We are currently looking to buy a 5th wheel - having trouble deciding on just the right layout, though. I will be working full time from the road & need desk space but don't want to give up living/bedroom space. Has anyone ever bui...
We have recently purchased a Weber 220 gas grill for the motorcoach. I kind'a like the idea of utilizing the 100 gal LP tank of the motorhome to supply the grill. There is an extended stay/refill pipe (threaded) off of the main LP line near the tank. I can tell it's been used before because there is thread...
