Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Walking through the CG tonight being invited into just about every campfire, my wife looked at me as she has so many times and said "Everyone Is So Nice". I began to think about it, she is right, most everyone we meet while on the road has such a nice open warm way about them. Maybe it's because they are not weighted down by all the material things that traditional living puts on us. Maybe it's because they don't have a big lawn to cut or gutters to clean. Or maybe it's because sitting by the campfire every night brings on a meditative state that calms the soul. I am not really sure why, but I am reminded everyday that the pursuit of this lifestyle is the right thing for me, Here is a Toast to all of you nice people that make this lifestyle so fulfilling and meaningful.....G

It is great, isn't it? However, where the heck are you that anyone is sitting around a campfire this time of year!?!? It was 100 here in St. Louis yesterday (and going to be today). Never saw a single fire! Oh yeah, and then there are the burn bans!
We did run into some very nice people who run the campground we are staying at. It's so hot and there are no 50 amp sites available. Our coach just cannot get cool with only one air and we can run 2 on 30 amp. We asked if we could pay extra and plug into 2 30 amp posts (older campground so had to use the post from 2 separate sites). It took us moving and locking up 2 sites but they got it done for us and we are nice an comfy! 2-30's is not a good as having 50 amp service but we can get by just fine. We just didn't make our plans until too late so we were very pleased that the folks running the campground were so accommodating. Nice folks. Bill, head north, it's been 65deg at night here in CT...we are tucked deep in the woods, sattelitte won't work, but it's a small price to pay for the cool shade....Happy 4th.........

I've been told that most RVers are the kinda folks you would want as neighbors and friends. In my limited travel, I would agree.

Here in Cooperstown, NY where we are camping it has been mid-70s during the day and low 50s at night...haven't used the a/c yet...been here 2 weeks. Lovely.

One of the reasons folks are so friendly while camping may be because they are in "vacation mode" and have checked-out of their real lives for a while. Whatever the reason, you are right--it is nice.

It is an entirely different mindset.  Almost like moving to an entirely different country.  A couple of years ago, Jo and I went to Pagosa Springs for our first ever 2 week vacation WITH FULL HOOKUPS.  I was standing outside gazing at the fifth wheel we had at the time, trying to remember how they showed us the operation of extending the awning.

A gentleman was walking by, and I swear there must have been a neon sign over my head saying, "NUBE", because he stopped, came over and helped us get it out.  It was a wonderful two weeks in the Pines of Colorado, among a lot of friendly folks.  Shoot, while we were checking in we were invited to a pot luck supper that was planned for a couple of days later.

While we are "static" full-timers finally, we can't wait for the traveling and the opportunity to meet a lot of similar folks.
