Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We have the chance to buy a 2007 Shadow Cruiser Land Roamer 315QB from a guy at my work at an awesome price. He used it to full time for two years before they came to AZ and bought a house. They have used it once in about a year that they have been out here. He has had it in storage since he bought the house about a year ago. He paid $48,000 new for it off the lot and he just wants to get rid of it so he can buy a Jeep for commuting(he commutes 65 miles one way to work). They found they just have not been using it as much as they used to and have stopped full-timing. He customized it to a full timing lifestyle, and made it better. He said it just needs a new window and a few vents on top (due to some kids trying to break in at the storage lot he had it at)He is also willing to sell his 2003 Dodge 2500 5.9L Turbo Diesel Short Bed 4X4 with the hitch included and everything we need to get started using it. The truck has 270,000 miles on it and he has done all maintenance to it that it needs. We can pick up the combo truck and trailer for $20,000. Trailer is $12,000 and truck would be $8,000. Is this a good deal? What do you all think? Should we jump on this deal? We are going to look at it this week sometime. Is there anything we should look for? Is this a good model trailer? My husband and I would like to start full-timing with our 2 medium sized dogs (a Weimaraner and Chesapeake Bay Retriever). Thank you for all of your help! We look forward to going to see it!
Have a great and safe week!
Sincerely, Snow and Anton
Update:
OK, so today we went to go look at this setup and were impressed by what we saw. It is actually a 315QB Land Roamer Cruiser Rv that was made by Double Tree RV. It is a late model 2007, made in December 2007. It needs just a few minor repairs and it is basically turn-key and comes with everything we need to get stated rving and the remainder of a 7 year warranty for anything major. The truck is a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Crew cab 5.9L 4x4 Diesel with 270,000 miles on it. It has a heavy duty suspension and everything 4wd has been replaced. It is in really good shape and comes with the hitch as well. He is asking $20K for the package and we are looking at buying it. Any concerns with this setup? Any info would be great! Thank you and we look forward to any and all comments. Have a great and safe week!

I would be careful of this one for one reason. I don't know where you heard that Doubletree RV built this model in 2007. I have a pdf file which is the 2007 brochure for Doubletree RV (now known as DRV Suites) and there no mention in that brochure of a Shadow Cruiser Land Roamer.
I would do some more searching to find out for sure who built that brand and model. All I can find is that it was made by Cruiser RV. If the seller is telling you it was made by Doubletree, I would verify that from another source. Perhaps you might even get online to DRV Suites and get a phone number and call them to see if they ever made the Land Roamer.
We have a DRV Suites model called a Mobile Suites and the 2007 brochure shows that in 2007 Doubletree RV was only making Mobile Suites and Elite Suites.
Now, it may still be a good deal if you can verify the manufacturer, but I'd also have someone knowledgeable in RV's to inspect it for you. A few hundred dollars for an inspection up front can save you a lot of money later, if there are issues with the coach you are looking at.

(I posted the following in the thread you started in the "Welcome..." category, but I'll repeat it here as well.)

EDIT: Snow and Anton: I've sent an e-mail to a DRV Suites factory representative with the link to this thread. In the past, DRV has built some units for other companies, so I've asked her whether Doubletree in 2007 might have built some units for Cruiser RV. If she doesn't answer directly on the forum here, I'll provide whatever answer she gives me to you.

I hate to gripe, but a link to a password protected site is pretty useless without an access code. I don't use apple, nor their site, so I am out of luck.
I stand corrected on the builder....sort of. This is what I received back from the DRV factory representative:
"Cruiser RV is owned by DRV.....David Fought owns both and Jeff Fought (son) runs Cruiser RV. They build Shadow Cruiser, Fun Finder, Fun Finder Xtra, and the Viewfinder. They did build the Land Roamer for a year or so in the Cruiser RV factory."
So, while the owners are the same, the factory doesn't appear to be the same. Thus, there may be different specifications between the Cruiser RV units and the DRV Suites units. Also, being in a different factory, the construction could very well be different. Cruiser RV has their own website, although I think they mostly build travel trailers now.
If Cruiser RV only manufactured the fifth wheels for a couple of years, why did they quit and go to only travel trailers? Again, I recommend the use of an RV tech to really look the unit over before buying.
As for the truck, 2003 is getting pretty old. While diesel engines will last longer than gas engines, I would ask the owner for any and all maintenance records, especially considering the number of miles on the truck. Have the truck checked by technicians as well. Even if the engine is holding up well, the rest of the drive train, and the rest of the body and frame components need to be checked.
