Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
LOML did what she does best a few months ago and changed her mind about a Class A. Not the end of the world, but first I had to find a better truck than my old 119k miles 8.1L gasser to tow a 5er. Stumbled over an '06 F350 Lariat turbo dually that had only 26k miles and was kept in a (believe it or not) barn. Loa...
hello! My husband Richard and I are hoping to be fulltiming by late 2014. We'd planned to do this a few years ago, but decided that we just weren't ready at that point in time. We want to sell the house and just head out on the road. We've done a lot of research and even attended an RV Dreams Rally in Myrtl...
I quess this is a question for the fulltimers. What do you wish you would have bought for fulltiming while you still had a job? It will be easier for us to buy before we leave our jobs. Howard and Linda bought a second car after being on the road. We have started buying things now a little at a time. I know I w...
My husband just got a consulting job in Sunset Beach NC for a few months and we are looking for a place to stay with our 5th wheel. Anyone out there know anything about Sunset Beach and/or have stayed in an Rv park or campground in that area?
Once our mpg sold we started looking in earnest for our full-time coach. We had narrowed it down to a 'Bird, a Foretravel, or a Newell. Last weekend we visited a couple that is selling their 1993 Foretravel U300 40' coach. We liked the coach, and spent a lot of time discussing it and praying about it. Yest...
I've been looking at RV refrigerators today, trying to get an idea of what I want to replace the residential electric-only fridge in the Caboose. There are several propane fridges that are not marketed as RV refrigerators. No electric required at all, manual light. Some are a nice size (both interio...
Hello everyone, My husband Corky and I (Lucy-which is his nickname for me), have been camping for about 5 years. We bought our first Class A about 5 years ago and upgraded to another just a year ago. My husband loves the Class A. I would prefer a Fifth Wheel and so our agree to disagree continues. We ar...
After two years of research, we have settled on a DP for our full-time coach. Our budget is $30-40,000, with approximately $10,000 of that for repairs and upgrades that may be needed. Since tires and batteries can be expensive, if the coach has new ones we could use some of the $10,000 to go higher. We do...
I was a full-timer between 2006-2008. I traveled in an Arctic Fox 31W pulled by a GMC 2500 truck. It was the best time of my life! If you are on the fence about full-timing don’t waste another minute.... just go for it! I had to sell the AF-31W and my truck in 2009, but I want to hit the road again in 2014 with...
We had just about decided on buying a Dodge Ram 2500 Cummings Turbodiesel when I received the April 2013 Consumers Report Auto issue in the mail yesterday. Planning on towing approx. 36' 5th wheel. (haven't bought either yet) They are saying the Dodge Cummings historically has the worse rating p...
I'm doing this backward, I guess, because I've already posted in a couple of other places, but I'll introduce myself now: Hello everyone, my name is Mel and as my screen name indicates, I live in West Virginia. My husband, Richard and I have been thinking about full-timing for a number of years now. ...
I posted this on another forum, but got zero responses so I thought I'd cut and paste it to RV Dreams since everybody seems so much friendlier here! hello! My name is Mel and my husband and I have an 18 year old son who will graduate from high school in 2014. At that point we'd like to sell the house and pursu...
With limited space for time outs. We were having a hard time with my 4 year old. A friend of my suggested a rewards system. So we have small water jug. We started out with 5 marbles. When she does what we ask like put her dishes in the sink, pick up her toys, or leave the playground without throwing a tantrum s...
Hello, Where to begin........Watched rving commercials on tv. Looked on kijiji Canada and made a deal with someone to buy an RV. So I bought a small 21' 1981 heritage c class motorhome. Our shower is draining slow. what do you all use to keep it flowing properly? We have a liquid holding tank treatment called RV Digest-It but it doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions?
I was brainstorming some on the road money making ideas, and thought, what if I put a nice, professional looking sign on the truck or trailer that said, "Pet Sitting, I will watch your pet for the day while you go sight seeing" (or something to that effect). So, while I am parked in a campgrou...
We are considering the purchase of a used 5th wheel that's for sale in the Austin, TX area. Can anyone recommend someone that we could hire to do an inspection? It's been full timed in for about 5 years and it's being sold by a private party. We are currently in Florida until the end of March and then we...
I floated a balloon on Craigslist about selling or leasing our home. For tax reasons, we got the $8,000 tax credit when we bought our home so can not close before June 1 which I stated. Need to ck the papers to see if we must occupy.
Had a legitimate sounding reply from a couple who lost their ho...

Any fulltiming active or retired clergy out there who treat their RV as their sole residence? My accountant tells us we can claim an RV (fifth wheel in our case) as our residence and exclude all expenses just as we could if we owned a house. The catch is we need to have a "fair rental value" of th...
I kept an account with a webhosting site for a number of years, but never got my photos online. All due to the fact that I know NOTHING about HTML and other coding. So, rather than keep paying for a site that I wasn't using, I canceled that account and now I'm looking for a site to store and share my photos. ...
Hello all - Does anyone have a recommendation for a RV park in Texas? We are looking for a park that has large, shaded, secluded sites with full hook up and Wifi. Are there any out there?
