Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Whoo Hoo, Dale is leaving today to drive to Boise to stay with friends of ours, will trade in the Toyota Tundra for the Ford F450 tomorrow and be on his way to Elk City OK on Friday.Pre-sales inspection of our house was completed yesterday with NO major issues, everything that absolutely has to be fixe...
We have ATT and iphones while in the US, and the cost to use them during a visit to Canada is outrageous. Does anyone have suggestions about a phone service to use for one month while travelling in Canada?
Got the call that our 5th Wheel has arrived! We are scheduled for our trial run in the next week or so. Kansas is unpredictable this time of year and this week we have severe weather predicted. If all clears up next week we will get checked out. Our contractor in Utah says snow melt is underway and he ca...
Hi all! Well, after planning for about 2 years, I'm ready to hit the road. As a complete new full-timer, I have a couple of questions. I will be traveling from Northern Virginia to Milwaukee, WI (yes, I'd rather go south but family matters dictate me going north). I have a 2002 Newmar Dutch Star. My c...
I have been thinking, are RVer's expressing the "hunter-gatherer" instincts of our caveman ancestors? I mean, like people walking across the Bering Strait, Celtic mummies found in China, Polynesians rowing boats all over? Cities, taxes, sitting at desks all day, it's just not natur...
I am having 'fuzzy' build up around the base of my house batteries. I cleaned this mess up about a month ago (in storage - not being used) I plugged it in about 2 weeks ago and checked batteries again and fuzz has returned. I checked fluid a month ago when I cleaned them up.....have not checked batterie...
I see occasional discussion about trailer tires but I have never seen anyone mention using the heavy duty trailer tires designed for commercial drop deck or lowboy trailers. They come in the correct sizes to fit our RVs. Seems to me, considering the weights we run, that a tire rated for heavy use might...
I saw this story on Yahoo news, and it was just so weird, I'd thought I'd share.... An Argentine man who thought he bought a pair of poodles at an outdoor market in Buenos Aires brought them home to the vet only to be told they were actually ferrets on steroids..... The veterinarian informed him the ferre...
with my arthritis in my hands sewer hoses are getting harder to connect so I bought the BlueLine sewer hose that pushes together no twisting. I'm hoping this doesn't have problems with it blowing . does anyone use that type on of sewer hose? have you had any problems with it blowing apart?

hello everyone, this is Chey - OH from chat. I just wanted to stop in and introduce ourselves. We are Dan and Kris Jackson from Ohio. We are getting ready to become full timers in 24 months. We are looking forward to meeting some of you in Oct at the fall rvdreams rally in NC. In the meantime we will be...
We’re looking for a place for February 2014.In 02/13, we spent a month at the Carrabelle Beach RV Park on Florida’s panhandle. The RV Park was perfection, but the weather was awful (cold, windy and often rainy), and although we really aren’t “shoppers”, it would have been nice to have a decent groce...
Hi Folks, I did try doing a search on this forum to answer my question but couldn't find anything. Can someone explain to me what the Encore RV parks are? I usually see the logo in conjunction with the Thousand Trails logo. I somewhat understand about TT and buying a membership, but can anyone camp at...
Hi! Newbie here so bear with me. Hubby will be ready to retire soon, the kids are gone, grandkids live out of state. So we ditched our long time dream of owning a home on the lake and decided to travel instead. We both love to travel and we can follow the nice weather and destinations as we desire inste...
Have been looking at the few RV parks in this area and leaning towards Heritage in Carthage NC but was hoping someone here might know of some other options such as some other park I have yet discovered or maybe someone knows someone who rents a site out on their property. Any ideas - anyone?
OKay I already know what I want and of course I want a diesel. That being said, don't know if its in the cards. So my question to you'allllllllll is; if you are driving a gas burner what kind of mileage are you getting? There aren't to many used diesels for sale right now and I am a Dodge fan at heart and wi...
Hello, As the subject line says we have been reading RV Dreams for about 3 years now - but never participated. We are Keith and Jeanne Kozlovsky from Wauwatosa, Wi. It has been a cold winter up here. We participated in RV Dreams Spring Rally just a few weeks ago - in Elephant Butte, New Mexico. We en...
We will be going through Iowa next week. We have an Itasca Suncruiser that needs some hydraulic line work done for the slide and jacks. Has anyone had any experience having work done directly at Winnebago vs a repair shop? I'm concerned cost wise. I'm sure their work would be great since they built...
Our ongoing saga with the truck might have just come to a happy ending with only a few days delay from when we originally thought we would take possession of the truck. Just found a used F450 at a dealer about 10 hours from here, right on the route Dale was going to take to pick up our DRV in Elk City OK!!! So,...
Hi, I'm totally new at this. I'm learning fast. A lot of it is just looking at how it works. Some other things are less obvious. I haven't done anything with the water system yet, but I'm finding some things not working. I got an '09 Jayco hyperlite 19' bumper tow. It was used once, and spent the re...
So I tried to do a search, but didn ot see anything that was newer than a year old: What is the best GPS Software? This is actually two-fold, I have a laptop that I built a mount for in the center of my current truck. I use Microsoft Streets and Trips to initially plan my route, then use Delorme's Street Atla...
About two weeks ago I went through a sobriety check point here in Elephant Butte, New Mexico. When asked to provide proof of insurance I handed them my Ipod with the insurance information on it. I was told that electronic proof of insurance was not an acceptable form of proof of insurance by the...
Just curious, does anyone here use Fuelly.com to keep track of their mileage? I've been using it since early 2009, before that I tracked mileage in a program on my computer, but with Fuelly you can browse other users and see what kind of real-life mileage different vehicles get instead of the wildly op...
Northern California to Nevada would be an easier jump than a long haul to South Dakota or Florida, so, info anyone? Advice and tips on the ins and outs of making Nevada a home base would be appreciated! Jane
Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum and have been doing reading about homeschooling & RVing. My husband and I will be moving into our RV at the end of May and beginning our adventure with our 16 year old son. We currently home school in NY and are used to their stringent laws. Now we hope to base ourse...
