Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi there. I hope everyone is doing fine and looking forward to the warmth and blooms of Spring! My husband is a flooring contractor and due to his demanding work schedule, we're weekend warriors in the mild seasons. However in the summer, we take a couple weeks to go somewhere and just get away. We have a...
I have some food for thought for everyone today. A while back we had an issue with our Whirlpool WFC7500VW compact washing machine when it got to where it didn't want to spin fast enough to expel all the water. We called for service and they came out and replaced one of the electronic control panels. S...
I tried to find a way to do a search for a topic easily but haven't figured it out yet so please forgive me if there has already been a discussion on these issues, and if so, feel free to just link the discussion in a reply instead of having to reiterate everything. I did find the discussion on a tankless wat...
Hello, We will be buying a 5th Wheel next March or April but would like to rent something next January in Texas. We would have our dog with us. She is an American Water Spaniel - 8 yrs old. Totally housetrained. We are searching some sites but wonder if anyone knows of a RV park/campground in Texas...
Just for fun. What is the dumbest thing you simply HAD to put in your RV (or take with you) that you knew you couldn't live without ?And in the long run......you laughed and asked yourself (as you were disposing of it)' "What in the world was I thinking ?"
I think I've now read everything here about this topic, including the gun thread. Obviously, RV security is really not that different from home security. Common sense, awareness and instincts are our best defenses. What I want to ask about is what types of non-lethal defenses you carry with you? I'm...
Love reading the forum and decided to stop stalking and start contributing. DH and I will retire in 2014 and start full-timing. We bought our 5th wheel and will pick it up and get trained this June. Looking forward to learning how to post on forums as well as begin full-timing.
This post is to all you Blogers out there. Thanks for taking the time to do so.I have been reading several RV blogs and enjoying them better than most books I have read.I especially like reading about what went in to getting on the road, how you have handled hiccups with your rigs along the way and you o...
My wife and I are considering this lifestyle, when we retire. I have worked full-time at a Campground in MI and now for a state park in Iowa. My wife got to reading the expense break downs for the RV lifestyle and said,"We could never afford the nightly camping fees", Way more than taxes onour...
howard, just wanted to ask you about the fall rally. do you have a limit? we love the great smokies, ashville, gatlinburg, the old mill et.al., but i still work, for myself, but still october is a long way off and we might want to fit it into our schedule but not able to tell right now. ran into a fellow rv-dr...
Doing a lot of research on full time RVing. My husband is on disability. Was wondering if most campgrounds if any give discounts for people on full disablity and if so what kind of paperwork is needed?
We've been rv'ing a bit now and this is the year we head to Alaska. The trip is underway and I'm posting from Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. DH suggested I start a blog, so I did. I'm not quite sure what I am doing, but some folks seem to like it. We've seen a bit of wildlife, met some nice folks, and have enc...
Newbie here on the forum, veteran camper... buying a used camper, parked permanetly and was hoping to get some tips on what I can do as far as telling about the condition of the black tank. My thoughts so far tell me to first just take a look down the toliet with a flaslight and make sure no cones are do...
I have a problem im sure you full timers may have run into. I am at a permenant site with sewer, the problem I have is my drain is to close to the ground to get a nice down hill slope to the main septic line. I have a clear elbow (45) on my end pipe, for I like to see whats coming out, but I can only position it a co...
OK, so we are getting rid of the onboard Splendide washer/dryer combo. It is in a cupboard about 2ft off the ground, we took out the drawers underneath it to close off the water pipes etc, then we tried to remove the unit. It seems like the unit is wedged in there pretty tight, there is no room around it to mo...
When we were setting up the 5er yesterday I noticed a problem that has been getting gradually worse. Whenever we disconnect we always close all the tank valves, both black and grey, and make sure the hose is empty. Put the over on the outlet and head down the road. The last couple of times we've set up I...
Has any one camp at any of the corps of engineers parks and what do you think of them. I want to try they out when we start full timing. I have my America the beautiful senior pass. jt
So I'm new to this forum, and I've viewed all of the comments re: washer & dryer. Not very recent comments. We just bought a preowned 38ft Cardinal. It has a closet in the bathroom for a stackable. I've researched & researched. came across reviews of a whirlpool, that several said they use...
My DH just retired March 30. We have a 2013 Fleetwood 5th wheel ordered. We are going fulltime RVing! We camped for years when the kids were younger. They are all grown now, so we're hitting the road come June 1st. Right now we are looking for a Toad. We've been perusing this sight and have gotten a lot of gr...
I am 40 with developmental disabilities and i get about 2 thousand a month but im a little affraid of traveling with not ever being thought to budget and i want to travel but my 1996 36ft winnebago cost about 300.00 dollars to fill up the gas and i can go about 800.00 miles before i have to fill it up but id rea...
We just joined the Dreamer's thing for Workamper News and were listening to something online and learned that some employers have become discouraged about hiring workampers because people are accepting multiple offers and then choosing the best one and not even bothering to call and let the emplo...
NO - I am not a sales rep ... just a believer (and user) of their products. I see so many posts about different RV brands, and we often get asked by others too, WHAT BRAND is BEST? There isn't 1 BEST, but there are so many that shouldn't be manufactured, and quite a few that are well-rated. Each brand has it'...
Hello, I was given this forum information from a helpful full-timer in another forum. I enjoyed reading almost all the articles on the site and thought I would come over here and introduce myself. I have been dreaming of full-time RV-ing with my family for awhile now. Several people that I have men...
OK, we've broken ties with the local dealer, now trying for a dealer closer to our trailer location. Lots of frustration, a few tears on my part, a few choice words on Dale's part and we're hoping for better results the 2nd time around. We are withing 2-3 weeks of being ready to put our house on the marke...
In a nutshell here is my story. My husband and I are in our late 40's. Our children are grown and living on their own. My husband is on disablity. I have been working as a Master Gardener for the city parks where we live (this a seasonal job in the summer) In the winter I work as a Med Aid in an Alzheimer's Unit i...
Ok, here's a funny one (not really, in my mind). We're getting ready to FT once the house is sold (God willing before the end of the year). Not really sure exactly where our travels will take us; it will depend on our mood (do we want to be near the beach, mountains, desert - the best part of this lifestyl...
I noticed there was not a thread gave all around tips for boondocking so I thought this would be a good start....... ****turning the brightness down on the TV and turning up the contrast will cut the power draw substantially ****Save a large detergent bottle with the spigot on it ....it works great for...
We are new to owning a motor home so questions seem to always rise up on every trip. Again we are out on a 5 day trip up the northern coast of Oregon and we had a problem arise that I couldn't figure out. So I searched the forum and again your combined wisdom came through and solved the problem in a matter of sec...
