Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Working my way to Fulltiming

Hi my name is Nancy and I am presently living in Pleasant Prairie Wi (between Milwaukee & Chicago).  I purchased a Carriage Fifth Wheel in Oct 2013 and it is currently in storage.  I am downsizing/purging and have my mobile home on the market but it will be a tough sell.  Once the MH sells I can pay off my RV and start saving towards my truck.  Then I'll move to St Louis to join up with an army friend who is going to purchase her rig along with another army friend from Indy.  Sounds complicated but we will be convoying around the states in our new lifestyle.  We all are paying off debt and learning to live a simple & less expensive life while still in sticks & brick houses.  I have to learn to enjoy the entire journey including this learning and training and exploring phase.  Will be at the spring rally along with my 2 cohorts.  My military time was special as the military community often bonded together.  From my readings it looks like the RV community bonds in a similar way.  I pray my Heavenly Father gives me patience and wisdom as we prepare for our next journey in life.

Welcome, Nancy. There are lots of members here with prior military service, ourselves included. Although we did not do 20+ years as some did. We do have two active military sons, one Army and one AF and of course we are very proud of them. Enjoy your RVing experiences, they will be here before you know it. Pat K

Welcome Nancy. We are in the same boat. We have a manufactured home in a mobile home park and it's going to be tough to sell. We have a Cal Vet loan and will undoubtedly have to do a short sale in order to get rid of the house. We already have our RV and truck and both will be paid for in a couple of years but we can't afford to keep the house and travel too. My husband is a 20 year Navy veteran. Good luck making your RV dreams come true.

My village reassessed property and reduced the value of my MH by $10k.  Ouch.  Just put it on Zillow to see if that will give me any prospects.  Once the MH sells I can finish paying the RV.  Then onto the truck.  Will be relocating to St Louis to share a house and expenses with my cohort so she can get her rig.  Hopefully will get my RV out of storage in late summer so can do a couple trips this year to get to know my rig.  Tentatively planning to workkamp at Amazon in  2015.  Have my rummage sales in June and hopefully will be done downsizing.  RV Rally in TN was great and educational.  Hoping to do the Boondocking rally in 2015.  I just want to get on the adventure now but I actually am already on it.  It just isn't in the RV yet.  The planning and slow process is a good thing and we are working the plan.  I just focus on how sweet it will be when we finally hit the road.  2-3 years of planning and preparation is not a long time.
