Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I started my first trip in my new home today, did 231 miles, and except for a 50-mile learning lesson, my first time driving a motorhome. No wrecks, I did my hookups by myself (with one phone call on why I had no water when it was all hooked up- I forgot to turn one valve). Definitely deserved my happy hour drink tonight! I'm a REAL newbie, but part of the class of 2014! Thanks, Westward Ho and Lucky Mike for all the help getting here!
Trace, would love to meet up this summer! Where in NH are you? We will be in Kennebunkport/Arundel ME which we thought would be best since it's halfway between Portsmouth and Portland. My husband will be working in hospitals, so need to be near metro areas :) Jo
We are in Keene, NH which is near the Vermont border. No worries...we can come to you...it doesn't take to long to drive from state to state up here.
As an update, received word our RV is here!!!! Calling today to schedule the walk through
HOPEFULLY add us to the class of 2014. We are putting the house up for sale in April. (was going to be in March but the never ending winter won't leave). As soon as it sells we are buying the RV and hitting the road full-time. I want it to be done by November and off to warmer places by winter.

I'm jealous that most of you will be meeting up at the Spring rally. I don't want to commit until at least the house is sold (besides, the Spring rally is sold out anyway). I'm hoping the Fall rally won't be sold out by the time I'm ready. I'd like to propose as many people as possible try to meet up either again at the Fall rally or sometime towards the end of the year. But we all know... plans made in jello.
For me, we just gave away our dining room set so one more room completely empty. It feels really, really weird but is a reminder that we're getting closer!
Hey Cheryl:
We already signed up for the fall rally, but have not sold our house yet. We will find a way to be there even if the house is not sold. We are like you in that we are not buying the RV until after the farm sells.
House was listed on March 1st. We have had one looker. It was on TV this past Sunday, some drive by's. I am blaming the blasted snow on the ground and now a storm is coming Wed. Sorry, I am discouraged Realtor: "it shows beautifully". I can NOT wait to get this part over with!

Jo Ann and I are in! We bought the Foretravel a year ago and have been moving into it since January. The auction is scheduled for 5 April, and closing should be about 30 days later. That matches up nicely with church commitments, so 12 May will officially see us as full-timers.
Congrats to everyone in the class of '14!! It's fun reading your updates and remembering those exciting (and sometimes stressful) days. It doesn't seem possible that we're in our second year. Time sure does fly when you're having fun!!
We have graduated and are on the road! Barb and I left Wisconsin a few days ago and are now in Salt Lake visiting our kids. It was an exciting and terrifying few days! Rather than go into detail here, you can read our adventure on our blog if you are interested.
Ed and I are exciting to start the next chapter in our lives! Our home is under contract and is scheduled to close prior to the completion of our Majestic. As soon as our new home is ready, we will begin our full-time travels/adventures.
We have already had the pleasure of meeting in-person fellow RV-Dreamers Neil & Connie, Jack & Danielle as well as virtually “spoke” with Bill & Linda numerous times. We look forward to meeting Howard & Linda in-person and many other RV-Dreams in 2014.
As Mike would say, HaPpY DaNcE time!

Quick update. The fiver is in and we got approval for the loan at a good interest rate. Lee is scheduling the walk through either this Saturday or next...so excited!!!! For those who are interested we are financing to start making payments until we sell the house then we pay off everything we can and can either stay a little while longer to have zero debt or go out with a very low fiver payment. We planned it this way to have options if the house sells for a little less than we need.
My hubby and I can't be in the 2014 class 😢 maybe 2016!! We'll get there!
my interests Red is how your Solitude holds up?! We are looking at that 5er closely!! Right now we reside in Richmond tx...hope to go to Livingston for some training this year!
Anyone interested in having a group on RVillage?? I saw the graduating class of 2015 did it...those young whipper snappers lol. I tried to get into the RVillage site on two different computers but getting some weird graphics ...maybe someone else will have better luck. I think 2015 called there's RVdreams Class 2015 or something close

I'd be interested in joining that. They were experiencing technical difficulties with the website this morning but were aware of it and working on it. Do you want to take the reins as the group leader there?

Bill and I brought our new Landmark home yesterday! We did our demo/PDI Saturday and spent the night in a local to the dealer campground Saturday night. It is now in a storage place 6 miles up the road from us! YAY!
Now - final countdown to listing the house! I was originally hoping for next weekend, but so much going on! Might have to put off one more week! Hope not!
Congratulations!!!! Wonderful news. You're lucky you were able to buy it first, although I'm sure it's very frustrating having it in storage instead of living and traveling in it NOW!

That's so sweet...coolest thing I checked my stats and had my best blog day ever with 202 hits when I posted that. So glad people find it useful and are seeing it because it was a ton if work lol
Yes, it is VERY hard to leave our new home at the storage place, but I have already been back once this week and I am bringing a good friend to see it tomorrow and also bring stuff that I bought for it. Will help declutter the house!
Linda, this is the link to the thread with the pics:
Well after 6 months on the market and big drop in price to sell, we are closing on the house 3/31/14. Moving into NUWA 34' 5er full time. So would like to throw my hat in the ring (Class of 2014). Trucks in the shop getting 10K work done. 5er coming out of storage as soon as truck returned. We will walk away with very little money, but all debt will be cleared and we will have to learn to live for the day, not yesterday nor tomorrow. No fantasies that all will be good, just looking forward to what will be a daily adventure.
Congratulations to you both! That's GREAT news! If you're not part of RVillage.com yet, sign up. We have a group page for Class of 2014 grads. It has a meet & greet get together listed there. Details will follow.
I joined that group and then "unjoined" it. It looks to me like it is for a sub-group of the class of 2014, those who are attending the Spring Rally. We won't be out on our own by then. Will that group continue?
I'm sure as long as there is interest in keeping it going, it will. It's just for fun, more focused I guess on those of us that will be heading out during the 2014 year as we feel a bit of camaraderie. Doesn't matter if you attend the rally or not. We can all share those few months before and after we head actually head out and what challenges we may happen upon as newbies Feel free to re-join if you like. There does appear to be many that are going to the April Rally which is what started it all.

This group is totally about folks getting ready to go out on the road then hopefully we can all experience year 1 and year 2 together etc :). I absolutely love having folks going through he same things at the same time ...makes me feel a lot less crazy lol
Glad you're back David! We won't be out FT by the rally either. We'll be in one of the cabins. Hopefully we'll cross paths at some other time.
I think there is a Cruise America in Knoxville. You could rent a 30' class C Instead of the cabin. We were going to do that if we didn't have our own in time for the Rally. We rented from Cruise America in Tampa, FL and enjoyed the experience. We joined KOA for I think $25 and saved 10% off the Cruise America cost.
Trace, you are blessed to have that thought pattern, very few people have that, there is a high chance you will live longer and happier than other people. Just look to heaven and smile, and say I'm blessed.

Thanks Lonney...I feel very blessed, I have my health, good kids, and a wonderful man by my side...truly what more could you ask for than that. I see so many people who seem perpetually discontented with what they have. I think the Buddhists have that right...just letting go of tings makes you very grateful for what you have.
My house is now OFFICIALLY listed! Open house on Sunday. Will keep you all posted! I hope the karma / kudos / whatever is in the universe that got some of you quick sales rubs off on me as well!

Great news, Cheryl! We are still right behind you! Just 3 things left on the "must do before listing" list, the weather has NOT been cooperating! It's supposed to rain (admittedly better than snow!) all weekend! UGH!
Add us to the class! We will be heading out for good on Sept 1, 2014 once our youngest son is settled into college. Hope to see many RV Dreamers out on the road!
Welcome, KuhlmanZA! I don't post much, but my husband, kb0zke, does. We are living in our motor home, parked in front of our house. It is listed and we've had some lookers, but nothing more yet. We use the house plumbing and have some stuff still in it, but most is gone. We are still tweaking the coach and purging what didn't sell or go away yet. We are so looking forward to heading out when the house sells.
UPDATE: Well as many of you know who are here at the Spring Rally; we were able to announce first to the 2014 Graduates, that we accepted an offer on our house the Saturday before we left for Sevierville! We are so thrilled and even more thrilled that an hour after we arrived we could tell the 2014 Grads face to face and at happy hour! ;) You are all such wonderful people, we are feeling so blessed!

We sold our house in 11 days after listing. Yikes! We didn't expect that. So we both retire on June 13th and the house closes on June 16th. We'er going to fly to Texas where our daughter lives and beging a serious search for a coach.

I flew to California Feb 26, started living in the 1998 Fleetwood Jamboree that night, tried it out for a week, closed the deal on it March 19, drove it back from California via Quartzite, on to Page, AZ, then Moab Utah, on to my apartment in Colorado, and with the help of a son and grandson, got moved out of the sticks and bricks and into the rv. Made a 2 day round trip to South Dakota to get licensed, registered and file change of address. Spent the last 3 weeks adjusting to the cyclone I feel like I just went through, rearranging(AGAIN), thinning out (AGAIN), acquiring a travel buddy - Conor. I'm about to head for Utah again, for about a month. I'm ready to stop and catch my breath, and get back to sewing. I'm projects behind! Then South Dakota, the last of June, and then I will decide by the time I get there. All of the above plans are subject to change without notice. Hurray for the class of 2014!!!!! Happy Dance!
