Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Custom Desk in a front living room model

We ordered our Open Range 386 FLR (front living room model) without one of the couches so Lee could put in a work desk for me.  It generated a lot of interest at the rally so I asked him to type up the specifics of how he did it.  Cheryl was interested so I thought I would throw it out there for others who want a large desk/ workspace.  The description of how he did it and pictures are on my latest blog entry...skip down until you see the  italics writing ...that's the desk section. He will be adding custom cabinet fronts to make it look a little prettier but it was cost effective and works great for me...so thought I would share it

I know it isn't done, but it already looks great! Can't wait to see it finished!

I have the same kind of desk in my home office...a laminate countertop on top of two wood file cabinets. Since you have a lip on your slideout, what are you going to use for a chair? Will you be close enough to the desk putting a chair on the flat floor? I'm sure you thought of that but in the pictures it looks like it will be a stretch to reach the desk top from that far out.

Trace,

I took the liberty to "activate" your blog link, but for this particular thread, I linked it to that specific day.  That way, if anyone looks at this at a later date, they won't have to "leaf back" through all the "pages" to find that particular post.

Terry

We are currently using one of the four dining room chairs (we only keep two at the table with a couple of cushions BUT our ultimate plan is to get a chair  that has screws between the seat and the back and then I will remove screws and fold in half when we travel. (They exist Lee found a couple models at staples)  I want to store it in the hole in the desk for travel.

The desk is deep so you have to put the chair legs right up against the lip and then I stretch my legs out underneath.  Lee doesn't like much so he sits back a little farther.  With the laptop works fine for me ...We will see when we get the desktop in there
