Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I'm thinking when I hit the road full time, it might be good to get a dog, and as a single woman traveling alone, it might be good to get a "real" dog vs a "toy" dog. Most dogs up for adoption around here are either chihuahuas or pitbulls, and considering those options....
Anyone h...
Last August we bought a new RV that has a residential fridge. It's been great. Up until now. We've dry camped with it twice in the last couple of weeks. Once for two nights and again tonight. When it is plugged into electric no issues. However, these last couple of times when dry camping and it is...
I am sure this topic has been covered before but maybe some newbies can chime in. How many find full timing in an RV cheaper than living in a home? I realize there are a lot of variables so let's assume both RV and home are paid for and go with monthly expenses. This will not be the same for everyone as a lot w...
Hi All! We are selling our weather resistant (can be exposed to elements, but may not be submerged) portable surge protector with included locking bracket. This product features five (5) mode surge protection as well as previous error code storage that indicates when the unit needs replaced. The 5...
We currently park our RV beside our garage on a bed of gravel, when we are home. When cold weather comes, i.e. late October, we will plan to "park" the RV for the winter. We would like to leave it in the same location until April, but want to cover it safely. We know not to cover directly with a...
Instead of towing get-a-round vehicle, what about carrying it? I know there are smart car carriers for HDT's and gargages in toyhaulers and even a few examples of toyhauler MH's. I'm thinking something akin to the flatbed they use for towing cars with. You attach it onto the back of MH and it's fol...
Howdy all! As introductions go, here is me: Female, 43, widowed, one grown kid, one older pooch, newly acquired paid for older class C, zero debt, little bit of $ in bank, and about to take a week long trip a state over next week solo. Nice to meet you all!!
As I've mentioned in other thread I struggle a bit with claustrophobia but am finding it manageable so wanted to share some tips on how to make it easier plus see if others have the same issue. It can be a show stopper for some people and make others incredibly uncomfortable so worth a thread I think. Her...
Hi everyone! I would like to know what kind of covers you have used for your RV's to keep the weather off of them when they are not in use. I am especially interested in fifth wheel cover advice. Which types have you liked or not liked and why or why not? Thanks.
We are young, raising 2 tweens. And beyond sick of the "rat race" .. we are tired of working so hard all week long to have a two day weekend that is never long enough, we are tired of watching the kids grow up and miss out on so much of their lives, just because our whole lives up to this point we were...
Hi, I'm a full timer, and I have tried many vacuums and was discouraged by many and I had spent several dollars trying different ones out. Well I came across a wireless electrolux ergorapido cyclonic. This is great!!!!!! It takes a small amount of space, converts to a dust buster, comes with 2 tools, a...
Hello everyone! I have been getting a bunch of phone calls lately of people asking me where they can find these hard to find RV Tail Lamps and Head Lamps. I finally decided to create a website so RV owners can find these parts a little easier instead of having to call Hella to get directed over to me. The web...
i admit, we're extremely old school when it comes to payimg bills. we still send a check in the mail every month for every bill, and last month was the first month of direct deposit for social security. as we embark on our new life we're thinking of ways to make bill paying the easiest. one idea i have is to u...
Ginger, our terrific 2 year old black lab is always the one who greets people first. She is a terrific traveler. As her human parents, we (Sterling and I) are enjoying our new 2015 Forest River Sunseeker 3050s. It is our third RV in 3 years. To me the story sounds like Goldilock's trials. The 17' TT di...
So there we were at the Spring Rally, with an accepted offer on the house the day before we left for Sevierville, TN. Told the 2014 Graduates. A few hours ago our realtor told us the FHA appraisal came in at $15,000 LESS than the agreed sale price. I am in shock , DH is . Our realtor is going to fight it and let u...
Hello everyone, I am excited but cautious at the same time. I was told by my step-dad that when his settlement comes in and he has enough he will be giving me and my 3 sisters some of it to spend as we want. So, I will be getting my R.V. after all. It is just a matter of time for the settlement to get in. He also...
Hello All! DH is eligible to retire now but I have to wait 4 more years to get my benefits from work. So we've decided to both work these last few years, get the house ready to sell and gradually acquire the right truck and 5th wheel. I've been reading the forum daily and am slowly working my way through Howa...
We are the Sly's, Christian and Carla. We are empty nesters with several fur babies who will be traveling with us in our new motorhome. We are currently shopping, leaning towards Thor brand. Hi, We are thinking of purchasing a 5th wheel. We live in the Midwest and are considering taking a year or two on the road. Haven't a clue what one would be best and size. Years ago my parents had a Fleetwood and my sister a Jayco. That is the extinct of my knowledge. We want a comfortable home, laundry,...
Ok all you experts out there - My interior lights work, water pump works...everything seems to be in order EXCEPT....the residential refrig wont turn on and the microwave/convection oven's digital display is dead as well.... appears there is no "juice" coming in from either inverto...
We bought a 1988 twenty-five foot fifth wheel in January. It all looked good and didn't find any soft spots or ceiling leaks on initial inspection. After taking it home and hooking the shore water up, I found a small leak just where it came in under the couch. That's when I found that the floor under th...
I'd be interested in hearing the pros and cons of having a stackable washer/dryer vs a side by side? I like the side by side idea and not having a stackable taking up valuable closet space. I have seen a few floor plans that place the stackable in the kitchen area which seems like a good idea. I'd ap...

it feels very strange to even be in this place, but here goes. I am 53 and in January 2013 my rare cancer (surgical excision in 2006) metastasized. I am staged at 3b if that is significant for applying. since then I have had surgery again, plus chemo and radiation. my local doctors told me my cancer was b...
We are enjoying our new 2015 Forest River Sunseeker 3050s BUT we have learned that any warranty work must be done ONLY by an AUTHORIZED Forest River Service Dealer. The closest to us (near Hartford, CT) is Uxbridge, MA, 85 miles away. Ideas or suggestions? ________ Ann & Sterling Ginger, 2 yr old b...

Hello, What is the benefits of using a hauler bed, versus a standard long box? Is it bed rail clearance issue? Looked at 1 manufacture and it looked as if the rear is actually longer with the hauler bed? I plan on using my truck as a driver and worker, while on the road. Was ordering a "tommy lift gate&...
