Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Ok, I have no idea how it happened, but somehow Mitch managed to get locked in the bedroom while the slide was in (I don't know why he was in the RV or the bedroom to begin with). We must not have locked it in position before we took off, and since the RV wasn't level, the door slid shut. He did manage to open i...
This is a favorite chicken recipe of mine, which I make in my Breville (without convection on). We use chicken thighs, but I'm sure breasts would work as well. Place chicken in a baking dish sprayed with cooking spray, sprinkle with salt and pepper, garlic powder, oregano and or basil, and drizzle wit...
You would think it would be easy to not contaminate yourself when draining or working with any of the accessories having to do with the black water tank but I have watched people and it just seems their minds must be somewhere else. The most common scenario that I saw was that the person puts on gloves, t...
We picked up our new to us 2009 Select Suites 36RESB3 and headed north. First day out we had a blow out and forty miles later spare went flat. Called the dealer and seems there was a mix up as to which two tires they were to replace. The general Manager assures me he would put four new tires on and reimburse us...
Craig and I are holed up here in Elkhart, IN in a hotel room. We found out today that our 5er will probably not be ready for several more days. We have been in this hotel room too long and need to get to the woods. Can someone recommend a cabin somewhere in the area or just over the Michigan border on a lake?...
I split this off from the Verizon jetpack post. we were talking about drop-down to dial-up speeds. Junkman wrote: I have the note 3 .. just bought the wife the LG g3.. ...snip... ( yes, above, you both have android, NOT apple.) ... Salesman wasn't saying it was dropping to dialup.. users over on escape...
Hi, We are brand new to all of this, so bear with me if I ask some dumb questions. First, what should we buy? We are leaning towards a Leisure Travel Vans Unity. We like it because of the smaller size, gas mileage and drivability. But, a travel trailer or a 5th wheel would give us the flexibility of having a v...
Had a wonderful time this weekend in the Poconos meeting with other forum and rally friendS. Bill and Kelly, Jo and Ben, Cori and Greg, and Eileen and Gene were all there and we had a wonderful time. We celebrated Kelly selling her house and moving FT inro their RV and my birthday. It was really speci...
Getting confused.. I've been on Verizon for like 20 years.. Wife needs a new phone, and I need to upgrade our data to 10gb as a back up to the mellincom 20gb we will order from them..Or should I wait on the verizon front, and add more data later, if needed..We are strong smart phone users , and use them for o...
I am being released from the rehab hospital tomorrow (Fri, 8/8). I am unable to climb the steep stairs into the RV and don't have enough balance to walk without a walker yet -- which I don't believe will be easy to navigate with inside the CoW. The plan is to live again with my brother in law in the house. ...
*Not sure if posted in the proper section. Mod's please move if required* http://www.americanrvcompany.com/ I have just ordered Kwikee power step parts from these guys and so far seems to be a great source. They were very cheap compared to everywhere else I could find. I've been following the track...
We were experiencing very slow connections with our Millenicom hotspot. Since we have a Verizon cell phone which we also use as a hot spot when necessary we were comparing response times between the 2, Millenicom was definitely slower. I contacted Millenicom to report the issue and they were able t...
I was recently thinking about adding carrying capacity to a travel trailer by replacing the factory axles with higher rated ones, but I got to thinking (a dangerous thing I know) how about simply adding a third axle of equal size and capacity in front of the other two (as most of my added weight such as...
Since I do not have a sticks and bricks place to hook up a hose, I have been trying to figure out where I can hook up a hose to flush out my HW tank with one of those hot water tank rinsers. Any ideas?? Thank -- Edited by rgrrmg on Friday 15th of August 2014 11:01:20 PM
We have a mouse which seems to want to hang out at in our RV and eat our feathered kids leftovers. We got some Fresh Cab and the instructions say it is for RVs, but it also says not to put it in living areas. So where do you put it? i did some research and it says it is safe for pets? Thought we would put it in th...
My husband and I are planning on full time rv travel starting in January when we sell the house and hit the road. We are researching 5th wheels and can't decide if it is worth going without a king bed and 12 cuft frig in order to get a shorter 5th wheel, 31' OR go for the 18' 5th wheel with the floorplan that has...
Yes, we are ready to leave here. We are Janet and Stephen, (Tina is my cat) early middle agers just married 2 years this month. We were steady for over 10 years before doing so and are pretty much used to each other. My husband is being generous and letting me choose a class a by floor plan because if it do...

This question is for full timers.... If you could impart some words of wisdom to a husband and wife considering the full time RV lifestyle, what would you say? What are some lessons learned? What would you have done differently in your preparations to full time knowing what you know now? What are so...

It has been a busy week getting repairs, installations and challenges taken care of. First was the TV in our front lounge area of our Redwood 5th Wheel. We traveled about 380 miles last Sunday with our Redwood, when we got setup at the CG we sat down and turned on our TV in the living area. It started turni...

Why am I having such a hard time finding a floor plan that faces the recliners toward the TV? They all seem to situate the couch in front of the TV - but my husband and I like to watch TV from a recliner!
I looking for estimates for the average cost to boondock per nite excluding costs to run a generator. I know I could find free sites on BLM land but I imagine, beyond free sites one might have to incur some expense so I'm trying to ball park that type of expense. On a related thought, how much less expens...
Hello all, after dreamin for a couple of years now I'm getting ready to make my first RV purchase. Not a neophyte when it comes to vehicles, their care and proper use, so I am open to trying a 34-38' Class "A" to begin with. More likely a used unit to live in (as of now single/solo) and do some work...
