Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I sort of have a "watch" on a Class C with a diesel engine and I'm wondering if it is ever hard to find diesel fuel especially if you get off the beaten track. Also, my husband has never had any dealings with a diesel so would there be a lot for him to learn as far as care and maintenance? All advic...
Ok, kind of a dumb question from someone who has only had tent camping experience some 30 odd years ago.... Being the social creature that I am, is it appropriate to strike up a conversation with anyone I see sitting outside their RVs? Or is the polite thing to do just to wave, or say hello with a nod of the...
The end of November we will be heading to Harris Beach, OR (Brookings) for a work camping job. Any advice on the best road to take hauling a 36' 5th wheel. We will be heading out from the Eugene area. Looking at the maps, we are thinking that HWY 195 from Grants Pass over to Crescent City, then back up 1...
I'm so excited! I've read every single page on the rv-dreams website, researched several manufacturers (mostly 5ers) signed up for the rally in Goshen, IN & even went to look at a dealer's 5er. After reading some of the forum topics, I figured it was time to introduce myself, Brian and my high sc...
I got back, TN. Sunday the 20th. Left on the :1st to visit family in NY And MIchigan. This past Monday had an MRI scan on my neck and right shoulder. X-rays in June shown degenerative discs in C-3 to C-7 and a fracture in my right shoulder; don't remember hurting it.
The old heart seems to be ok; not getting...

Hi guys been researching RV camp grounds in the TN area for a couple days, lots of great options there, was wondering if an of you well traveled members have any ideas on a good place to stay? We have a 14 day window, we are travelling from Charleston, so not a long trip. We are looking to do the touristy...
I'm sitting here in my Fiver like I've been doing since Tuesday most of the time! It is 102 degrees with a 127 real feel humitemperature. Have until this Thursday before it comes back to the 80's. I have to store some of this heat until December and January as the Old Farmers' Almanac is predicting anothe...
Just hearing now about the 6.0 magnitude earthquake which struck in Napa Valley down to the SF area. I believe some of you might be out there or have family that is. Please report in and let us know you're ok!
Hello all. In February, I attended a local RV show and decided to get a 14-16 foot travel trailer. Sounded neat. I thought a "fifth wheel" was the spare tire! Research and an awakening followed and in late May, I bought an entire rig (1 ton truck and 37' fifth wheel) from a fellow, turned th...
Not sure if this is the correct place to bring up this question. In reading the comments by the 2014 class, it seems that quite a few are making South Dakota their state of residency. In doing so, do you need to change your POA-HC, Will, and other documents that are state specific? Do you also need to chang...
Hey. :). Has anyone had experience with an awning slide clip coming off when you retracted the awning? I am talking A&E elite 9000 awning if that makes a difference. It came off in three pieces, two plastic and one spring. Even after looking at the other one which is still intact, I am not sure h...
Couldn't stand it being away from my friends on this forum any longer!!! I'm hooked up; just after much careful consideration I purchased an AT&T mobile hotspot. It has coverage on the 4GLTE service and defaults to 4g; 3g when your out of range. The map looks great from the Mississippi to the east...
Hello, We have been reading all the information available on this site and others and have made our decision to be full timers! We are planning on attending the September rally in Indiana. We have set our retirement date of September 2017. Looking forward to meeting you and hearing the many experi...
Hi all.Just wanted some input cause I know there are so many knowledgeable folks out there.I want to install a Rotary Tank rinser in my black tank, someone told me I should reconsider and not drill into my tank because of its age (on a 1998 Fleetwood). Any thoughts? BTW, they have no knowledge of RVing. T...
Hard to believe we joined RV-Dreams 18 months ago. Thank you all for your advice. We have had our doubts along the way and prayed in earnest for guidance. Things are speeding up now. We have been purging stuff and moving items to long term storage from our home in Maryland to Alabama. Our youngest s...
We have a single step Kwikee Electric Step. It started to act up by not retracting so I ordered a brand new complete kit with motro, gear box, controller. I changed it and boy was it giving greif. It was working backwards from the way it should. Open door and it would retract......Close door and it would c...
For those of you who live in the north and are planning for next year or this year start watching for the sales. Last year we stocked up on things like fire starters, citronella candles, and other "seasonal" items and it saved us a ton of money this summer.
Just wanted to share a story for those who are buying. We got our unit in April and had a couple of issues. The door was not closing properly, the after market washer dryer we ordered didn't work, and the gray valve tank got stuck in the open position. We discovered these issues less than 30 days after p...
In late August we'll be leaving Boise ID headed to the Lake Tahoe area. I've been looking at Hwy 95 going through OR and NV before we get to I-80 in NV, RVParksreview.com, etc. Seems to be a very unpopulated portion of the country without many places to visit or places to stay. Has anyone traveled thi...
This was contained in a post for a workamp position in California. Any idea what possessory means? Is that taxes for the exchange of labor for FHU (i.e. possessing a pad)? Is this an ordinary practice in some/most States? Are there deductions allowed there as it says, "may be responsible...&qu...
Is the cost of membership to Sams Club or Costco justified for FTing? I was just wondering since at our S&B we have tons of storage space available when taking advantage of bulk purchases. But won't be able to do this in our RV. Is there more to using these memberships? Thanks, Cindi
Hi All, I've been wanting to RV full time for years.....my 5 year plan has begun. Bought an Open Range 288FLR last year and the new truck to pull it last week. GMC Sierra 2500 Z71 SLE. It was time to upgrade my old Verizon Hotspot for better and faster internet on the road. I've used an old Verizon Hotspot during the last year of travels and I have been amazed at Verizon's coverage as we circled the USA. There was only a couple dozen days we did not have coverage, which was OK for us, b...
