Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Tennessee in September

Hi guys

been researching RV camp grounds in the TN area for a couple days, lots of great options there, was wondering if an of you well traveled members have any ideas on a good place to stay?

We have a 14 day window, we are travelling from Charleston, so not a long trip. We are looking to do the touristy' thing while there and don't really want to move between CG's. We are hoping for somewhere between Memphis and Nashville, prefer not to be in the center of a city. rates around $400 a week or less.

All suggestions welcome, thank you

This is only a report and not a recommendation, we just stayed a night at Thousand Trails Cherokee Landing (west of Memphis). Though we tent camped, we saw a few rigs nearing 40' but the majority of sites there better for shorter rigs and not very level.  It is older but fairly decently maintained. Campground roads could be better. We were warned of horse flies but did not encounter any.  WiFi in the clubhouse was good but not great. I don't know what the general public rates are there but I believe they would fit your budget(we stayed free due to Cindi's father's Platinum TT membership).  Can't rate any special "it" factor as we were just passing thru to TX and did not really get a chance to see or use any facilites there. Overall score of 6 out of 10 based solely on what we did see.

You may want to check out the one I am staying at in my Signature line. I am 30 miles east of Nashville. The fair sized city of lebanon has a Wally World about 2 miles north and about 1/2 mile from I-40. Plenty of food; Cracker Barrel; Logans, Demos italian; Shoneys; O'Charley's and most others including a couple Mexican Restaurants.
This is a privately owned older KOA Campground which is not part of the franchise. We have an office some store essentials; Laundry/Day room and Restrooms with showers! There are 7 pull-thrus with 50/30 amp FHU's for overnighters and a couple should accomodate your rig. Call a day ahead for availability. Located about 1&1/2 miles South of I-40 on HWY 231 toward Murfreesboro. Rates are less than $25.00 a night!

Thank you for your time from this old Army Veteran!

have you considered the Chattanooga area??  Its quite lovely here.

We are at KOA in Trenton, GA.  15 minutes from Chattanooga.  Centrally located and tons to do in area, plus the mountains are just fabulous.

I would be honored to meet up with ya'all as they say in the South!!! We could chew some Fat and go to the Home of the Cracker Barrel for some pie and cups-o'-Joe. Yeah; there is nothing like the 'charm of Southern Hospitality' and this Yankee loves it here...it is worth putting up with the triple H Summer!! LOL!

Thank you scrappy, I will have a look at that area, we are looking forward to seeing the mountains, not very common down here in the Low Country. I looked at a KOA in the Manchester area, bit pricey at over 1K for our dates!

 Thank you Pierre,

you can't beat the charm huh? We are hoping that the temps will be a little lower in September there, are we right? What is the humidity like in TN? it can be brutal here in the Summer.

I don't think I can make it there in September but might be going to the Smoky mountains the end of July. Can anyone suggest a mountain area near Pigeon Forge that be a bit cooler as I realize it will probably be very hot and humid in July.

Thanks
Mark

JayKim; I don't know what to say on the Temperature here then; the best way is to search Wunderground.com and go to their weather hisory. The past two years I lived here have been in the mid-70's-low-80's. It is not as bad as inlkand Florida; Georgia; Alabama in the summer. I usually am inside by 1-2 PM as the humidity and heat in the low-90's can make it feel like 105; then after sunset it cools some but the bugs come out. If you get up early from around 6AM then are in your AC by at least 2 PM all is well.

Mark; The Smokies are a bit cooler; especially at night in July; but don't expect it to feel like the Adirondacks of NY. If you go near the Touristy areas expect to pay a lot more for everything. I would try to find an area within a 30-45 minute drive of those areas. There is a nice RV Park over by Townsend, TN. Don't have the prices but I believe it is Misty River. Also if you go over near Cherokee N.C. on the TN. border area there is a Casino that use to have RV's with overnite parking.

JAYKIM: You could also try Grand Ole RV Resort in Goodlettesville, TN. 165.00 per week with full hook ups. Its a decent park and only 15 min from Nashville and close to Rivergate Mall and Walmart

The coolest spot in the smokies to camp is the Mile High CG near Cherokee, NC. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g49023-d630021-Reviews-Mile_High_Campground-Cherokee_North_Carolina.html

The Tanbark CG in Dickson (a little east of Nashville) is only $230/mo. I don't know what their weekly rate is but their daily is $25 ($12.50 with Passport USA.)

The Shady Acres RV Park in Lebanon, TN, (a little west of Nashville) is $265/mo. They offer weekly rates too. I don't know how much they are, but daily rates are $20.

Appreciate all your help and suggestions for "Tennessee in September' guys. Looks like another case of best laid plans etc for us. Some friends of ours in Canada have asked us if we would like to meet them in Florida around the same time frame.

We are looking at Citrus Valley (Elite resorts) in Cleremont for the stay, if anyone has stayed here before please let us know of any reason we should look into other places. Thanks.

We are in Nickajack Lake TVA park, reasonable rate $175 for the week and close to Chattanooga.

We have been here a week. Some shady spots and rt on the Lake.
Got a lot COOLER today, 8-25

Rock City, Ruby Falls near as well as Chattanooga, while there try the Indian restaurant down town near the aquarium.

The Towing and Recovery Museum is very good! Neat trucks.

Recall that this is the home of HOLMES wreckers.
